Scelt's Highland Games

The Highland games are held each year in the northern most Province of Scelt, Kilvary. This is an ancient tradition that where each Clan sends a representative to participate in the Games.

  • Caber Toss; tossing a large wooden pole (usually a tree trunk) for the furthest distance.
  • Stone put; throwing a large stone for the furthest distance.
  • Hammer Throw; throwing a hammer shaped with a solid metal ball on chain affixed to a staff.
  • Obstacle Course; completing a tough course designed to put the competitors through their paces.
  • Wrestling; competitors fight to place the other on the ground - the wrestlers grip each other around the waist, at the back, with the right hand beneath the opponent's left arm, and the chin against the right shoulder, and whoever touches the ground first with any part of their body other than their feet is the loser.
  • Dancing; dancing is common at nights following the events of the day.
  • Feasts; feasts are common following the games.
  • Armory displays; throughout the events famous armories from around the Territory display and sell their wares.

Participants can be either male or female. Participants relinquish their Jewels before participating in the events as craft is strictly forbidden during participation; this often means that sometimes the bravest of the Landens will opt to compete.

The prizes are given at the end of the event to the top three victors. The prizes include a medal of recognition and a purse of winnings.

Queens often use these events to scout for new members for their Courts.
