* Plot Informaton for Scelt

Scelt is a Territory in turmoil and peace is tenuously held together by the Sceltic Queens. Rivalry between the Clans errupted into horror for the Territory that resulted in many dead, on both sides, and culimated in Clan Sheane being outlawed in the Territory. Further troubles plague the Territory in a variety of manners - Landen villages are raided, Courts are attacked, and no one seems to be safe.

Distinguishing Features:

Personality

Personality:
Honora is the very picture perfect form of elegance and grace. She always has perfect posture, a gentle smile and every hair on her head is in place. She is slight in form being very petite and slim but is not easily mistaken for delicate since he possesses an unnaturally strong backbone. While Honora is outwardly seen to be the exact opposite of her siblings there are many qualities that she shares with them. Since Honora is one of the adopted siblings she should not share much with them in terms of appearance but the similarities she shares with those siblings are soul deep; their shared passions, their shared loylaties, their shared love, and their shared heartaches.

Honora prides herself on her ability or organize and present herself in a professional and orderly manner. She has worked her whole life to be the balance to her family’s crazy antics and to be seen as orderly and Queenly. She even goes so far as to make sure that her red hair is always worn in a perfect form and fashion. She is the voice of mannerisms in a house of hedonism. Her soft golden eyes seem to see everything and pass judgment at the same time. Nothing gets past Honora’s attention and frequently her siblings accuse her of having eyes in the back of her head.

Honora is known as the "Dainty Dictator" amongst her family or those close to the Devlin clan. She's the least rambunctious of the entire group and has had to take up a different calling than making trouble - she's completely refined and follows etiquette and protocol perfectly and tries to get her siblings to do the same. She’s the bane of her sibling’s existence but also their favorite sister despite her strictness. And yet she has always remained something of an outsider among this family. Honora would never confide this feeling in any of her siblings, but it has always been difficult for the Queen to watch as her adopted siblings bond to, or serve, another Queen. As much as she loves Loreniel there is a sense of loss that knaws away at Honora knowing that she'll always have her family's love but perhaps never their unfettered loyalty.[/size]

There's a passion within her that's not yet seen but it lurks. Many view Honora as a cold fish or someone unable of sharing her emotions. Instead the problem is that she has a tight control of those emotions and rarely let’s that control slip. It’s sometimes a lonely existence for Honora even though she loves her family dearly they rarely understand why she lurks behind a wall she’s erected against them. Since the death of her husband she has shown even less emotions and seems to have withdrawn from even her family. Honora performs her duties to the Court of Scelt but she seems trapped outside of her family by a shield of her own creation looking in on their mirth and merriment with a jealousy she would deny feeling.

Duty is a calling for Honora and despite her own perceived inadequacies towards ruling, following the death of her husband, she agreed to rule the Kilvary Province in support of her family and ultimately her close friend, Loreniel Killan. Duty will always come first for Honora. Even if it is a duty that has removed her from her support of friends and family. Even if it means ruling a Province before she was necessarily ready to do so. And even if it means forsaking her heart.

Likes:
  • Order; Order is something that is very precious and dear to Honora and it is her way of solving life’s little problems. There is no room for chaos in her life and when faced with it she seeks to create order from it.
  • Etiquette & Manners; Honora believes in Protocol and etiquette and has tried again and again to teach it to her siblings. Her belief in etiquette is that it helps to civilize the Blood and it is especially needed in Scelt where the Territory has been riddled with strife and war. Manners are another form of civilization to Honora. It is important to her that her family and Court exhibit good manners, especially to each other and visiting dignitaries.
  • Family; Above all else Family is key to Honora who treasures each sibling. She has extended her family definition beyond simply the Devlin clan to include the Killan and Doyles as well.
Dislikes:
  • Pressure to Re-establish her Court; There are many who do not understand why Honora disbanded her Court upon the death of her husband and who have continued to pressure her to re-establish a Court and rule one of the Provinces in Scelt. Honora is grateful that her family and Loreniel understand her desire to serve rather than lead.
  • Sheanes; Honora fears the fanaticism that seems rampant amongst the Sheane clan in their attempt to reclaim Scelt. Though she was treated well once in their care she fears what they are capable of. Their escalation to the murder of Daveil Killan's Court was shocking and very concerning to the gentle Queen. She fears that with the recent outlawing of the Clan that they could become more trouble than ever before.
  • Death; Death is something that Honora would avoid whether it be for herself or for her family or friends. Losing her husband at such a young age has left her in fear that it could happen again to someone she loves and it is a fear that she struggles to cope with.
Fears:
  • Falling in love; Honora was in love once before and he was stolen from her prematurely. She fears the emotion since she knows how fleeting it can be once attained. The consuming love that comes with romantic entanglements that she fears, and the pain that comes when that love is lost or broken. Her husband's death left her traumatically scarred within her heart and she is mindful and protective of it ever since. She fears opening up to another person only to be unintentionally hurt once again. Having already been lucky once in marriage Honora fears that another marriage could end up disasterous, like that of her biological parents.
  • Loneliness; Honora is aware that with her fear of Love and loss that she has constructed walls around herself that, at times, can be nearly impenetrable. Loneliness is a constant companion for the Queen who has embraced it as a coping and survival mechamism. And yet she fears a future of Loneliness almost as equally as she fears falling in love and all that it entails. Honora admits that she is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.
  • Growing Discontent in Scelt; Scelt has always been a unique Territory with the in fighting and Clan wars. It is the nature of the highly passionate race of people who cohabitate a relatively small island. The tension within the Territory is something that incites fear within the gentle Queen. And she feels all the struggles of the Territory deeply in her soul.
Craft Strengths:
  • Queen’s Gift; Honora’s ability to gift the land seems almost disproportionate with the Jewels she wears but it is a gift she gives willingly and frequently whenever given the opportunity.
  • Emapthy; Honora seems to have a way of managing emotions and helping to calm situational anxiety, stress or discord.
Craft Weaknesses:
  • Traveling; Being a Queen comes with the perk of always having an escort with whom Honora can travel. This is something she is grateful for because she particularly struggles with riding the winds solo.
  • Psychic Sense; Honora has limited ability, perhaps due to her Rose, to sense the proximity of any other Blood in her vicinity.

History:
Honora’s parents, Hope and Henry Mckinnon, were members of the former Court of Scelt serving Daveil Killan. They had been a matchmaking attempt by the Queen that had failed miserably and both had vacated the Court long before Honora was born. They attempted to patch their relationship by having a child together on whom they could focus their excess energy and attention. Henry Mckinnon was a possessive man who was prone to violent streaks. Daveil Killan had been aware of this defect to his otherwise gentle personality but Daveil had hoped that Hope was docile and gentle enough to sooth Henry. Though much of her parent’s sad story was kept from Honora she understood the gist of what had happened.

When Honora was two years old her mother, Hope, had poisoned her father in an attempt to escape. Hope had found a lover that she’d been entertaining for some time in Little Terreille and had gloated about her new relationship to Henry as he lay dying. Not to be outdone by his wife Henry unleashed all that remained of his Jewels upon her, lashing out with the strength of his Rose and Purple Dusk, and burned her completely of her Jewels and mind. In turn he had emptied his Jewels to see vengeance served and neither could make the transition to the fabled Demon Dead. Neighbors had found the husked bodies of Hope and Henry Mckinnon after sensing the clash of power in their home and rescued Honora from the carnage. They delivered her straight to Daveil Killan at the Court of Scelt with little pomp or circumstance.

Daveil Killan’s response was to send her Steward to locate an orphanage that could accommodate Honora. Her intent was to remove the reminder of her mistakes and misjudgments from her Court and send Honora away. Instead of allowing a Queen to be deposited at an orphanage Daveil’s Master of the Guard, Liam Devlin, chose to adopt young Honora. Daveil grudgingly gave her blessing to the adoption and Honora became the fourth in Liam’s growing family, with the fifth already in the womb of Liam’s wife.

The earliest part of Honora’s childhood that she can remember was spent as the only girl amongst a group of boys. She made the effort to compensate from their influence by leaning to, and embracing, all the girly influences that Liam could throw at her. In particular she took an instant liking to the topic of manners, etiquette and fashion all before she’d even received her Birthright.

By the time of her Birthright ceremony the family had grown significantly in size and Honora was one of many. She was treated equally to a Hearth Witch and a Dark Jeweled Warlord Prince and she learned that everyone was worthy of love. Liam taught his family that Castes and Jewels did not define who a person was unless they let it have that effect and he encouraged his children to see beyond stereotypes and Caste limitations. It came as no surprise when, fourteen years later, Loreniel Killan named a Heart Witch into her First Circle. These were the years and the treatment that shaped Honora’s personality with the influence of her loving family and influential friends.  Honora spent her childhood mentoring and mothering her siblings. Liam’s track record with the women in his life was rocky at best and there was no stable mother figure for the children growing up. Honora adhered to, and applied, all forms of mannerisms and forced her siblings to perfect them as well. Over time she became brilliant at set downs and snappy comebacks whenever she was challenged by one of her siblings.

Despite the closeness of the family she felt distanced in her understanding that she was not their Queen. Honora was never jealous of Loreniel and considered her to be a great friend. They shared tutors and they had a particular bond that even the Warlord Princes couldn’t duplicate. Where Loreniel and Honora should have been rivals they had instead chosen to be the closest of friends and assets to one another.

When Honora came of age she took a place as Queen of the Loch Cairne District which was a neighboring District to her father’s Glencoe District. Honora served the area well and became well respected for her work in Loch Cairne. She was a fair Queen who worked with both Landens and Blood to create a better and stronger society. She kept a minimum Court, not because she couldn’t afford to supplement her Court but because she wanted to direct the funds to projects that needed them more. Within two years she was married to her Court sweetheart, Donagh Dunne, and it was a beautiful and happy marriage that lasted four short years. It also had built a strong relationship with Clan Dunne. Donagh, Honora’s husband, had been killed when he had stood up to a Warlord who wore a darker Jewel in one of Scelt’s struggling Landen villages. He had been there investigating the death of a young Landen girl that had been reported to Honora’s Court.

The death of her husband hadn’t broken her Court but it had broken Honora’s spirit. The hurt had handicapped her on a far deeper emotional level than Honora knew how to handle. After dissolving her Court Honora returned to Killan Keep and presented herself to Loreniel in hopes to serve the Territory Queen. It had taken her breaking down in front of Loreniel while the Queen discussed the reasoning behind Honora’s decision before Loreniel would consider offering her a place in the Court of Scelt. Loreniel invited Honora to serve with the understanding that once Honora was comfortable again and ready that she would step up to rule the Province that Daveil held. Serving Loreniel, the Court and Scelt suited Honora’s current state of affairs and the Queen sensed that.

As a Devlin within the Killan Court Honora had become a target to the Sheane Clan and was kidnapped. This traumatising experience stilted Honora's recovery from the loss of her husband and it was only due to the friendship of Ciaran Doyle that she managed to find her feet once again. Following that incident she had felt particularly responsible for Ciaran as he had his Jewels broken during the kidnapping. And through her continued service to the Court of Scelt the strength and convinction of a Queen started coming more naturally to Honora once again.

After the death of her brother Aidan, who had been serving as the Ruler of the Kilvary Province, Honora was not surprised to be asked to take up rule of the Province. Though she was grieving heavily for her brother she understood her duty and knew that it was highly important for the Killan supporters to maintain control of the Province. With Brogan needed as the First Escort (and given that he did not have the political skill set to rule a Province) it came down to Honora to once again do her duty.

Writing Sample:
There was a sense of pride in the air as Honora was ushered out of her home by her hoards of siblings and led by her father. She was off to partake in the special Offering ceremony that Blood participated in when they came of age. She hated to leave behind her comforts of childhood to embark on becoming an adult but she knew, better than anyone, that it was her destiny to do so.

Honora loved to make her father and siblings proud. She was one of the more quiet personalities and there'd been a fear, for some time, that she could become lost in the boisterous crowd of her family. Instead she'd taken on the motherly role as the eldest daughter. Aidan, Kean and Cillian often had a difficult time listening to her heavy handed critiques of their social skills and etiquette but the younger siblings seemed to listen whenever she spoke.

And it was those 3 difficult brothers who were the last to wish her luck on the Offering. Cillian was always good natured, fun spirited and the most loved brother. Honora received his hug and wishes with a gentle smile. Cillian was secretly one of her favorite brothers even though he loved to flaunt conventionality. Then came Kean, the quiet but strong Prince, who Honora always admired and looked up to. Kean was well aware of it and he strove to set a good example for Honora when she'd been an impressionable youth. Then came Aidan , the stalwart older brother, the heir, and a Warlord Prince above all else. He sometimes scared Honora, but she'd never admit it, and was an intense young man who had long ago shucked the innocence of youth.

Once she was free of her brothers she still had to deal with her father. But instead of letting her loose to find the Altar on her own he'd insisted on joining her. So Liam  wrapped his arms about his daughter and together they rode the winds all the way to the Altar deeper into Scelt. At the Altar's steps he kissed her on the forehead and whispered words of wisdom that later Honora desperately wished she could remember.

For all that she forgot those simple words that had meant so much to her she did remember the ceremony. It had begun with the Priestesses initial questioning of Honora's intentions. It progressed into their gentle chanting and Honora's initial Offering. She'd drawn her own blood, drank of it mixed with a dark wine, and finally had presented her own White Birthright Jewel smeared with a trace of her blood. It was that White that anchored her while she traversed into the abyss to seek the next step and seek her true potential.

It would later come as no surprise to Honora that she could claim the Rose as her Offering.
