* Plot Informaton for Scelt

Scelt is a Territory in turmoil and peace is tenuously held together by the Sceltic Queens. Rivalry between the Clans errupted into horror for the Territory that resulted in many dead, on both sides, and culimated in Clan Sheane being outlawed in the Territory. Further troubles plague the Territory in a variety of manners - Landen villages are raided, Courts are attacked, and no one seems to be safe.

Distinguishing Features:
Calum is a big man. He is tall, wide, and strong. Thighs like tree trunks, arms as big around as most men's thighs. He avoids sitting in delicate furniture.

He has oddly pointed ears, and a deep voice. It is capable of great gentleness, but it cracks if he speaks too long, legacy of one of his stays as a prisoner.

He is covered in tattoos, and almost never tells the same story twice about what they mean or why he got them. Snaking in between, under and through his tattoos are layers of scars, some from battle, some from torture.

Personality

Personality:

Calum is a big, big man. He is fierce, aggressive and astonishingly brave, even for a Warlord-Prince. He knows well the cost and even probable outcome of rushing out to defend a Landen holding, having both lost and won such battles before, but he does it anyway. He is something of a legend to his clan, a symbol that sometimes simple bull-headed stubbornness is all it takes. And every Highlander ever born knows how to be stubborn!

Like any Black-Widow, he has both a thirst for knowledge and a need to be clever. While he is not as randomly prickly as most, that is because the anger runs deep in him due to the constant persecution of his kind. He loves playing with his prey, preferring indirect traps, clever deceptions and complex maneuvers to a straightforward fight. Thus his love of breaking sieges from within the beleaguered town or holding.

He has a double helping of the appetite for sex so common amongst the Blood. His Dual Caste nature makes it a trifle challenging to seduce a lady on short notice. Still, he is quite the hero and finds willing women in the wake of his heroic rescues. He is very physical and intense, his Black-Widow love of sensation melding with his Warlord-Princes's unbridled passion into an astonishingly skilled bed partner who loves the seduction and foreplay as much as the claiming and climax.

Calum has been on the losing side. He knows what it is like to defend a besieged town, to hold and hold, and still lose. He has never seen a lost cause he won't champion, and he hasn't the sense to give up, ever. He has a knack for knowing where the weakest link is, and rushing off alone to try to save the day. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it has earned him the distinction of being an expert on siege tactics and weaponry.

He revels in such long term strategic battles and tactical chess matches, delighting in clever schemes, subtle misdirection and long term gambits designed to lure, isolate, confuse and kill the enemy. He finds it the perfect balance of his two Castes, the urge to protect and the desperate skirmishes feeding his Warlord-Prince nature, but the need to wait for the perfect time to strike, meticulous planning and convoluted traps are relished by the instincts of the Black Widow.

Even within his own Clan, he is an enigma. It is an open secret that he is an abomination: a Male Black-Widow. While he has trained to bind his Caste, he is not Dark Jeweled and cannot hide it from those more powerful than he. He uses it mostly to avoid trouble with strangers when he travels. Though in truth, the first impression he strives to impact people with is the Warlord-Prince. His Black-Widow Caste has the instincts of an ambush predator, preferring to lay a trap and take the unsuspecting prey by surprise.

Despite this iconic man's reputation and skill, he does not serve in the Clan Guard, or the Court's. He cannot be trusted in a position of command, since his Visions summon him away at random, and he cannot serve shoulder-to-shoulder with most Sceltic fighting men due to his Black-Widow Caste. Instead, small volunteer groups are assembled when he needs them.

Although this limitation to his service is profound, he is valued enough that his father, the Laird has twice ransomed him, and his sister the Queen once. He is tough enough to have needed ransoming, instead of burial. He cherishes his little sister, and has been known to break kneecaps because someone made her frown.

He has a record of showing up to save the day, if a holding can just give him a little time. However, if a holding tries to refuse his aid for any reason (especially his Black-Widow Caste), he isn't above pushing the issue, to the point of using Craft. Since he mostly rescues Landen and Jewel-less Blood from mercenaries and raiders, he can often force their compliance long enough to save them. If they hate him for it later, so be it. But every breath they draw from that moment on they owe to a Black-Widow.

Calum struggles with the mindless hatred of Black-Widows. To his mind, Warlord-Princes are more destructive fighters, prone to cold rage and mindless ruts. Queens who choose a selfish path do more damage than any other single Caste. The only thing truly unique about the Black-Widows is the subtlety of their Craft, and their glimpses into the unknown. Despite his best efforts at applying logic and fear to this prejudice, he still struggles with it himself. There are long nights that he spends regretting the vicious, hungry nature of his own Dual Caste soul, and fearing the unknown within his own nature.

Calum will not commit to a long-term romantic relationship, because he knows his life is not his own. It doesn't even belong to his Clan. He is the Seigemaster, the Lord-Protector. His life belongs to the helpless, the courageous and the persecuted, foremost amongst whom are the Black-Widows of Scelt, his soul-siblings. He would not subject a long-term lover, wife, or children to the stigma and hatred his Dual Caste status engenders.

Calum is a far more cunning and subtle opponent than a man with one Caste. His Warlord-Prince Caste drives him to protect and serve, but it is his Black-Widow Caste that dictates where, whom and how. And the people he chooses to serve are the Black-Widows of Scelt.

Spoiler: Bonding Triggers (click to show/hide)

He is the son of the Clan Laird, with all of the arrogance, pride and right to rule which that implies.

Likes:

  • 1 Being Darkness' Weapon It isn't his Clan's respect he values as much as the way people in desperate situations trust him. He does love being a hero, being recognized for the risks he takes and the price he has paid, but it is the people he has saved that make it worth it. While many, even most, of the people he has saved still fear him, he has earned a grudging respect within the Falkirk Highlands. Those few who can see past his Dual Caste are precious to him.
  • 2 Black-Widows It isn't really accurate to say that Calum likes Black-Widows; it is rather that he has a deep and abiding loyalty to them. He sees them as his soul's siblings, as distant cousins, so his loyalty to Black-Widows is tangled up in his unreasoning Clan loyalty. While it is true that Calum craves sensation and touch as much as any Black-Widow, he finds no touch - not even a Queen's - as personally powerful as a Black-Widow's.
  • 3 Changing the Paradigm Calum hates to confront a foe in the simplest, expected way. He likes to outwit and out-maneuver them. He is so used to banking on the long odds, to fighting hopelessly superior forces, that the mere idea of an 'honest' or 'Fair' fight is revolting to him. He likes a clever plan where he defeats the enemy and preserves as many of his own as possible.

    Dislikes:
  • 1 Warriors afraid to die. It isn't that he expects warriors to match his level of courage. But to accept the mantle of warrior is to accept risk, even unto death. He has seen more battles lost because of the warrior's fear of death than from actual losses. He despises the coward who promises to protect but then decides the price is too high. 1. Protect. 2. Pay the price. 3. Die, or repeat 1&2. But don't whine, and don't betray those you've promised to protect.
  • 2 Mercenaries. He has come to loathe mercenaries. In a world with no law against murder, mercenaries sidestep the controls and restrictions on warfare. They make it hard to know who is behind the killing, so that a person can escape the only retribution available.
  • 3 The volatile nature of Black-Widows. It is hard being a Black-Widow. The passionate and volatile nature of your average Black-Widow makes them easy to manipulate, leaving them painfully vulnerable to the institutionalized hatred found throughout Scelt. He has seen too many Black-Widows provoked into a mild display of temper, or tempted into an abuse of their Craft, and then killed for it. Their co-conspirators and accusers never see even a harsh question, let alone an accusation. Once the Twisted Kingdom begins clouding their minds, they are even more likely to be used, abused, and then blamed for the fallout. He can't even control his own prickly nature, and doesn't know how to change his passionate need for action, let alone everyone else's. He just hates how it plays into everyone's fears. Because they are right; he has and will use every ability the Darkness gave him when defending one of his hopeless causes.

    Fears:
  • 1 Bonding. Calum fears the Heart-Bond to a Queen. He fears the loss of focus, the split loyalty that would result, for Calum is able to serve as he sees fit right now. A Queen would think she could overrule his Visions. He tells himself that this is all he fears in a Heart-Bond, but deep beneath all his cool logic and reason is a seething snake's den of pain and loss. He once Bonded a Highland Queen, and lost her to a higher cause. He doesn't want to go through that again, but fears the Darkness will only Bond him to a Queen with a purpose so violent or untenable that only he could see it through to the bitter end. He wasn't able to save the one Queen he took a contract with, either, and his survivor's guilt surrounding their deaths is profound. He doesn't want to watch another precious, unique and beautiful Queen destroyed by her Fate.
  • 2 Reprisals he deeply fears that his Clans loyalty and steadfastness in protecting him despite his Dual Caste status will produce a backlash against his Clan, just as he fears being captured, tortured, and burnt at the stake for his Caste. He was once tortured, and very nearly executed for the 'crime' of being a Black-Widow. Once he was captured and accused for the simple crime of defending a Black-Widow. On one memorable occasion he was even tormented by a Black-Widow. This gives real teeth to his fears, and his nightmares are truly of legendary proportions.
  • 3 Imprecise Visions. While a vision or intuition might seem straightforward when he first experiences it, Calum must always interpret it. This leaves him vulnerable to mistakes and to being too late to rescue those he is Darkness called to protect. It eats at his soul, the deaths he has caused through lack of skill or sheer stupidity. These preventable deaths are the only reason he agreed to get what little training he has. Being late to the rescue, arriving too late to catch the villain red handed and have him persecuted, even arriving after the trapped survivor's have perished of thirst or the weather give him bitter nightmares and focus his purpose.

    Craft Strengths:
  • 1 Combat. He is a furiously gifted warrior, trained to battle as all Warlord-Princes are. Once his second Caste emerged, that training shifted. He was no longer trained to lead large groups of men or to become Master of the Guard. Nor did they attempt to instill in him the discipline of the dueling ring; the Black-Widow's survival instinct was too strong. They trained him extensively in fighting multiple opponents, in surviving ambushes, blending his Warlord-Prince bloodlust and Black-Widow survival instincts into creating the most dangerous cornered rat in the world. This Training dovetailed perfectly with his later inclination towards defending the undefendable. As his Visions' strength and frequency increased, he developed a danger sense and intuition that operated both on the large, strategic scale and the smaller tactical one. He was further trained in Siege weaponry and defense, although he has never commanded large groups, and what small, temporary units he does command are filled with volunteers, those with too much too loose to say no, and the suicidal.
  • 2 Spontaneous Visions. His spontaneous Visions are both more numerous and stronger than most Black-Widows experience. He has them quite routinely, and as a consequence has a near-perfect understanding of when an intuition is Craft based, versus a hunch. His intuition is finely honed, and in battle he almost never guesses wrong, for the Black-Widow in him wants to live and feast on the blood of her enemies, even as the Warlord-Prince in him wishes to take them down to Hell with him.

    Craft Weaknesses:
  • 1 Invoked Visions (Vision Webs). His few attempts at Invoking Visions on purpose produced such convoluted and impossible instructions that he did more harm than good. He believes he was punished for his arrogance in demanding guidance, instead of waiting for it to be offered. Because of this belief he has refused the training and practice that would tame his Vision Webs.
  • 2 Incite Rage. Calum is not merely a Warlord-Prince, but also a Black-Widow. His anger and rage reflect both of his Castes. He cannot reach that part of other males that would respond to his cold rage.

    History:

    Spoiler: Timeline (click to show/hide)
Calum is the first but far from the last of the Clan Laird's children. But he was first, and has never forgotten it.

He was first, because he is the protector. Of his Clan, of his Family, of the Highlands. But it started with his sister Yseult, born when he was eight. She was a little pink freckled ball of trouble even before she could walk. It only got worse two years later, when his cousin Ryanne was born. He had two Queens to look after; he was already having trouble with the two-year-old Yseult.

Calum did not perform his Birthright Ceremony until he was 9 years old. This delay was necessitated by his incredibly confrontational nature, and determination to argue every command. This young Warlord-Prince had both a fearsome temper and a rigid view of right and wrong. The result was that he needed extra time to learn the basic self-control he needed just to get through the ceremony.

When he saw his Birthright Rose, he was disappointed. Not for any logical reason, but ...pink? Really? Sure, and like calling it Rose was going to make it less girly? Couldn't he have a nice manly Tiger-Eye? This was the very first battle that hall-marked an awkwardly difficult adolescence of truly heroic proportions.

Apparently the Darkness felt that he would need a little more help to fulfill his destiny. The answer wasn't what anyone would have guessed. When he was 13, he manifested a natural Black Widow Caste. He was horrified, for he had been raised to fear them, to find them tainted, despite his mother's insistence that they were not evil.

His Clan believed this in theory, not merely because of his Killan mother, but because of their own role in succoring and hiring Black-Widow's in their hidden (and very, very remote) enclave. The Clan believed that they weren't all evil, but that didn't translate to liking or trusting them. Instead of a Clan Seer, they had the Widow Keeper.

The Widow Keeper would now control Calum's training, where he lived, how he behaved. He wasn't even allowed away from the enclave without either a fully trained Widow Keeper, or a full grown Clansman with a Jewel at least two levels stronger than his own escorting him.

The Clan Laird, the eldest Black Widow Keeper, and Calum talked for days; there was no way to get rid of his Dual Caste. It had emerged naturally, at the behest of Mother Night, and was a fundamental part of who he was, and who he was meant to be. Calum spent a 24-hour vigil with The Wisdom, Elidiah, during which he weighed the shame his Caste, to determine if suicide was the more reasonable alternative to a lifetime of hatred and shame. He was already treated differently, and would spend his entire life trying to regain that sense of approval and belonging he had lost the moment his Widow's Fang poisoned his world.

He had already been suffering from violent, recurring nightmares focused on an enemy to the Clan who wore a Red Jewel. During his Vigil, he was assaulted by a Vision that wove those nightmares into a terrifying whole. He did not share the Vision; he was too old to admit to flights of fancy or nightmares. He had no desire to once again be labeled as immature. He was terrified of what he saw, unsure if he was ready.

At the very end of his vigil, The Darkness vouchsafed him a simpler Vision. He would hold the line. Always. When a few more minutes matter, when courage and self-control matter more than power, when knowledge matters more than Jewel strength, he would be called to serve.
Landen or Blood, tiny village or Clan castle, when the lost cause needed saving, the hopeless venture needed doing, or the doomed Queen needed to accomplish her purpose before her death, he would be there. He embraced this destiny, though not without fear. Fear he would fail, fear he would bring destruction to his Clan. But it did affirm his decision to somehow live with the dark, hungry taint on his soul.

Grand-dame Sine, his great-grandmother and the Clan matriarch, arranged to bring a Dhemlan Black-Widow tutor home for Calum. This Tutor and Calum fought often, as he hated her very first action: to Bind his Caste. She slowly taught him basic control and to hide his Caste, but she was mercilessly strict with the Dual Caste boy. She suggested, often, that he attend Salamanca University for his Dual Caste, but between the horrifically high tuition, long waits and his own stubborn refusal to leave Scelt, he never attended.

The odd, new tutor and Calum's nearly legendary temper sent wildly divergent rumors through the Clan and Highlands. He hated hiding his Caste, for how could Scelt learn to respect Black-Widows if all the great deeds he performed were done whilst hiding his nature?

The destruction of Falkirk Firth was his greatest failure. He was only fifteen. When he felt the urge to ride out, he didn't understand the compulsion. He had resisted training with the Broken and hidden Widows in the Enclave, still felt that he was not one of them. Had fought enough with his personal Tutor that he did not wish to wake her in the middle of the night. So he delayed responding to his Vision, even as he had delayed his Craft Training; delayed until dawn, when he told his father about his inexplicable urge to head down to the tiny port village.

By the time the Clan warriors arrived, the village was decimated; the Jeweled Clan Warriors assigned there were slain, the houses burning. The attackers had not stopped to loot or take prisoners. They destroyed and slaughtered without mercy or reprieve, from tiny children to the elderly. Only those lucky enough to flee before being sighted lived. The survivors had seen an armed force that moved like an army but was dressed like Highlanders. They described the most powerful and effective of the Falkirk defenders being slain by Craft enhanced Arrows. Red arrows, just the Jewel strength young Calum had seen in his nightmares.

It took a year for his father to finish sifting through the rubble and determine which Highland Clan was responsible. Despite knowing that the actual attackers were mercenaries, the Clan Lord arranged for a strike against the offending Clan's leadership; not children, elders, and non-combatants. He would show them that much mercy.

That should have been the end of it, but it wasn't; the Falkirk Clan was soon fighting a blood feud.

During this time, Calum earned his title of Lord Protector, bestowed upon him by the Landen whom he defended so boldly and consistently. He never allowed that any Falkirk village, home or person was too far gone to be saved, or worth too little. They had been delivered into his keeping, and he was going to save them. He took intermittent lessons for his gifts from the most meek and terrified of the hidden and Broken Black-Widows, while still studying with his Tutor.

While some Landen villages refused his aid due to rumors, others were more desperate, and accepted his help despite his tainted Caste. The third time a village tried to refuse his protection, something snapped within him. He wasn't going to let more people die because of an unreasoning fear. He used his Craft, his Caste, and outright blackmail to force their compliance with his demands. He fought off the invaders, and confronted the survivor's a final time: "If your hate and fear of me, of all Black-Widows is so great that you would rather die than accept my aid, then come at me. For you live now by my hand, your children live through my sacrifice, my blood. Come at me and die, or live as new men and women. Live as people who know good and evil reside in choices, not bloodlines or Castes. Choose now."

Calum hides his Caste, but bitterly resents it. He finds it a betrayal of himself, other Black-Widows, and the rest of the Falkirk Clan. Most of those at the Keep proper know; but those are mostly Jeweled Blood and his immediate family. Black-Widows are rare, and his Warlord-Prince Caste and gruff Highland manner are usually enough to avoid the closer look and inspection required to reveal him. His Caste binding was meant to allow him safe travels and to avoid awkward questions for his Clan. While it is not foolproof, most Blood don't have Jewels, and fully half of those who do are lighter than Purple Dusk.

When he was 18, his mother was slain in an attack on his home, at Falkirk Keep itself. He had seen the attack coming, but not her death. His intuitions had the strongest members of his Clan ready for the pre-dawn attack. He learned this day that the Darkness sent him not to the people and places he valued, but to those the Darkness needed. So he found evidence that helped end the blood feud, and kept his father alive. But he had not even known his mother was at risk until the moment of her death.

His father's refusal to wipe out the aggressor Clan infuriated Calum. He quarreled bitterly for years with his father and sister over this decision. As far as he was concerned, any person who acted against the Falkirks was an enemy, no matter the provocation or deceit involved.

In the end, his father was proved right. The attacks continued, with the mercenaries no longer even pretending to be part of any Clan, Highland or low. This is where Calum learned real warfare. Siege warfare, defensive counter measures and true strategy. The battles were ugly, with Mercenaries striking seemingly unprotected or helpless villages, both within and outside of the Falkirk lands. Calum's intuitions had him commanding specialty units before his Offering Ceremony; his destiny gave him a heartbreaking casualty rate. Yet men volunteered for his suicide missions, for his last minute rescues. He was a living legend, a myth. And the Falkirks never turned away from risk.

His Offering Ceremony was a brief moment of peace and introspection. This time he understood that it was not the strength or color of the jewel that mattered, but finding the exact place where a small amount of leverage will topple a mountain. He responded gratefully to his Rose to Purple Dusk descent.

He was formally named the Siegemaster after his incredible, solo defense of Loch Arisaig. Well, it was Calum, a few score Landen, a particularly bad tempered mountain goat, and his two Falkirk Hellhounds, Vanguard and Ghost.

At 22, Calum was called to the lowlands. While he never speaks of it, he met there a foe he could not defeat. His father ransomed both Calum and a lowland Queen. Calum returned home with the dying Queen he had served. She insisted he not mourn; although she would die from a Black Widow's venom, he had slain the creature and freed the two small villages his Queen had ruled. It was enough for her. While not his only defeat, capture or ransom, it was the most painful, and left him with permanent reminders of his capture etched into his flesh and nightmares.

He decided that he had failed his Queen because he had lost sight of his first Vision, his need for the simple physical endurance and training that would allow him to hold the line. He had neglected his physical training in favor of learning tactics, strategy, weapons and Craft. It was shear bullheaded endurance that he was after now. His training succeeded enough that he won the Highland Games Strength competition that year.

He spent the next five years rescuing good Black-Widows, rescuing the Highlands from bad Black-Widows, rescuing shepherds and villages from everything, including the weather. He defended against raids, mercenary attacks and the unpredictable rages of the Blood.

Then a Vision woke him in the night and drove him into the most distant reaches of the Highlands, to find and punish a cruel Queen for slaying and capturing a young Black-Widow, enslaving a Clan Laird, and torturing a young Queen. The Territory Queen may have been hampered by politics and compassion, in dealing with the cruel Queen's first offense, but he had no such qualms; he would see this done. (based on thread from Twisted Webs of Tangled Flames ). He Bonded the young Queen, who was a match for him in courage and conviction, but not in fighting skill or toughness. He could not save her from her determination to see that the semi-functional Collar did not fall into the wrong hands.

He emerged from mourning the death of his young Queen just in time for the violent final acts of the Sheane / Killan Clan war. He and his people gird for war, and prepare to escort their Queens (both of them!?!) to the Territory Court.

    Character in Play:

Calum Falkirk knelt in the icy glacial snow, perfectly still. He studied the beautiful light refracting through ice floes that had not melted since before the Purge.

The rest of his men spread out silently, creeping around the huge stone dwelling. His Landen scouts were closest to the suspected encampment, their very lack of Jewels or any Blood magic allowing them to position themselves much closer than any of the Blood could. His Jewelless Blood formed his main attack force, held back until the conditions were perfect. They, too, watched the dwelling for threat.

He watched the ever shifting light that danced within the ancient ice, dazzling him with impossible colors and bizarre shapes, as if Scelt herself held a Jewel, and he gazed upon it. As the brilliant kaleidoscope of light formed a distinctive pattern, etched into his memory from the Vision, he gave a single harsh command.

    "Go."

His two brothers leapt into action. Not to fight, not this time; but to rescue. There were children within that stone edifice. His Landen immediately closed on the dwelling with standard siege weaponry, while his Blood unit made a loud and dramatic feint towards the front door. This allowed Seamus and Padean to go unnoticed as they sought out the hostages.

Calum himself drew upon his birth right, and walked through the ice. He followed that signature purple, highlighted by the rising sun, right under the giant boulder-like bit of a mountain's heart.

Seamus's thought reached him then, *We've reached the hostages. Whatever you are going to do, do it fast.*

Calum triggered his awkwardly constructed Widow's Web. Mother Night, but he hoped it worked like in his vision. He must have managed the Craft correctly, because a bitterly cold net of power outlined his powerful body, allowing him to both anchor his feet in the ice below him, and slide a heavy steel pole arm between that anchor and the giant stone dwelling.

It was one solid boulder, without the normal cornerstones for a Siegemaster to assault. But this was the balance point, and sufficient leverage here would destabilize the entire building.

Calum focused all the bitter rage of a Warlord-Prince and the precise, merciless hate of a Black-Widow, and shattered the glittering, ancient ice beneath the dwelling. Bitterly cold, hidden water enfolded him like oncoming night, and he knew he had but seconds to live. Best use them wisely. He braced against the numbing cold as he slowly, painfully tilted the dwelling.

Men screamed, and warriors that had been focusing on reclaiming their hostages turned to run.

But Calum had no intention of letting them live. His mighty thigh muscles strained as he continued to lift, using the force of the water, the might of his Jewels and the strength of his body to slide the edifice into the icy depths.

*Seamus. The south wall ... the Landen unit should have breached it by now.*

A wordless assent indicating his hostages were safely out of the building was all the reply he needed. The Seigemaster sent the dwelling and all who remained within to their fate.

Bitter cold ate into his body, and the webs that gave him purchase began to flicker oddly.

    Not his idea.

Calum slammed his hand through century-hardened ice, and began to climb his way out of the frozen tomb.

    Petitions (if any):
Caste Requested: Dual Caste Natural Black-Widow / Warlord-Prince

    Reasons for requesting these Castes:
I wanted to build both a champion for the Black-Widows of Scelt, and create a dividing force within the Falkirk Clan.

The Warlord-Prince is a loud, volatile Caste that hates to be in the background, and despises shame. Combat oriented, and born with instinctive knowledge that it is their right to change what is wrong in the world, the Warlord-Prince is essential on driving Calum not merely to seek change, but to do so in a confrontational, open manner.

The Black-Widow Caste is the most hated and feared in all of Scelt. It's appearance in a male, profoundly unlikely. His honor is on the line every time he claims it for a natural Caste, as is his Clan's. This makes him a profound factor in dividing the Clan, and should his Caste become well known, repercussions would be felt through out the entire Clan. The Laird's sentimental decision to protect Calum creates an entire faction of otherwise loyal, profoundly trusted traitors within the Clan.

As a Warlord-Prince/Black-Widow he is uniquely placed to both care profoundly about this despised Caste, and to be able to win a little of their trust. The Widow's Visions give him essential clues as to where he can be useful, the Black-Widow's cunning allows him to do so in brilliant and creative ways. The Warlord-Prince gives him the combat prowess and rank necessary to both survive his escapades and to clean up the mess once the fighting stops.

With any other Caste combination he would be both less effective, and less divisive within the Clan.

    Plans for this Character:
Calum as a Dual Caste character starts as a symbol of protection and unity between the Blood and the Landen in the highlands

  • Calum has plots with Astarte's Black Widow, Treasa.
  • Calum has plots with Caryn's tri caste Queen, Coira
  • Calum has plots with Nicole's Black Widow, Etain.
  • Calum has plots with Jamie's Dual caste Queen, Loreniel.
  • I'll post an ongoing want add for Calum's Visions, for everything from sudden rescues to hunting down lost children. Several folks have already indicated interest in plotting rescues and confusion around his visions.
  • I plan to use Calum in conjunction with my Cultural Purity Board and the Red Archer.
  • Calum starts as an odd symbol of unity, willing to champion the Landen, the Black Widows and other Underdogs in his role as the Lord Protector.
  • I have a traitor hidden within the Falkirks who will use Calum to try to rally the Falkirks around Ryanne, instead of Yseult.
Other Petitions you've made here: None.

Ready for round two!

First, I apologize; your feedback was so helpful and the changes so pervasive that I had to adapt or reword almost everything from his Personality to his History.

Next time I will mark changed stuff in Red!

Thank you again for your lovely feedback; I think I addressed every point! Please let me know what else I can do to improve him, as I just love how much better he is now.

Thank you!
Idariel
