The Rise of a King and the Fall of a Queen
« on: Oct 02, 10, 10:33:12 PM »
Odji dreamed of god; dreamed of Darkness so deep that a man would be driven to madness. Odji dreamed of the end of time.

Terreille was not dying yet but was not Witch’s punishment a sign that the days of man may be numbered?  Raej was surely headed to the moment in history where she would burn with the fires of death or survive, a phoenix arising from the flames. The Territory Queen had been murdered, not by a rival Blood faction or ever her own Court, but by Landens. A force that 185 years ago would not have been able to rise up, a force that no longer were the sheep to be watched over but were instead wolves, masquerading as sheep. Odji was not about to let wolves in sheep’s clothing destroy all that he loved.

The Territory Queen had been too complacent, her successor would be too; Odji had faith but not in those who ruled Raej, it was faith in his ability to rule Raej.

He was not the typical successor, there were Queens available to take up the reigns and a powerful Coven that could step in if require. It was not easy but Odji continued, lack of ease did nothing to deter Odji – Odji enjoyed a good fight as much as the next Warlord Prince. The High Priest had dreamed of god, a god that would destroy all the Blood if not averted and he would not allow that nightmare rest.

It had always been part of the philosophical wondering of the Priestesses and Priests to what would become of the Darkness should all the Blood be gone – Odji believed the dark god of his dreams was just that Darkness, devoid of all those small lights that were Blood waiting to return until their creator.

Of course the Blood would war at times but they would never destroy themselves, always the winner would claim her prize, win the hearts of her people, and there would be prosperity for a time. Always the Blood would survive their wars; they may not versus the Landens. Should those not part of the Blood win the war that would be the end – Raej was the beginning of the end.

He had to gamble, had to reach to the thousands of bright stars that alit the night, Raej needed him as much as he needed Raej. It was simple to convince the simple Blood that he was special, that he held the blood of the First Priest and was therefore was tied to that near divine figure, able to ride the coattails of the First Priest’s popularity. After the rumors spread, merely rumors with small lies to carry them on, and Odji was being called the next savior of Raej. The meeting of rulers in Raej saw him carried onto becoming the Ruler of all Raej, the help of the Priestesses and few Priests assisting those final few votes in his favor.

The Territory was in a whirlwind of chaos throughout the voting and Odji ascended only to one problem after another. Hylia, a Landen town the previous Queen had ordered destroyed has set off and chain reaction of Landen rebellion and Landen revolt; the economy stopped as a whole. Some Blood seemed to be able to deal with the crisis but they still needed a leader, relied so much on their previous Queen who had only set in motion the worst Landen revolt in recorded history. Odji did not wish to deal with the movement with humanity but even he, whose dreams foretold of the destruction by Landens, knew that it was the only chance to preserve, to deal with them with a gentle touch. Perhaps one day he would be able to lessen their threat, find supporters among his people who could understand the threat posed. Until then, Odji was in it for the long game; he was yet young and his dreams would not let him lose sight of his goal.

A dark and old god clawed his nightmares.

Raej would be a battlefield and Odji would lead his followers to victory.
