Plotting / The Silken Lady
« on: Apr 18, 19, 08:14:58 PM »
The Silken Lady

The Silken Lady sits in the heart of Bidea.  She has long established herself as the Red Moon House that all other Red Moon Houses look to as the pinnacle of what decadent debauchery looks like.  If there was a place that the aristocracy would prefer for their seedier needs, the Silken Lady is there to provide it.  And they do it with all of the secrecy of the grave.

Having a discreet building front and tasteful sign on the front of the building provides the passerby the ability to ignore its existence while giving away nothing of the splendor within.  Nothing from the outside of the build indicate that the business that resides within could be anything more than a bank or a restaurant and not the business that actually lives within the walls.

Inside the building, the plush interior is classy, clean, and lush without giving off an air of being stuffy and in ill taste.  The rooms are varied and provide a wealth of options for most tastes while keeping with the standards and morals of that of Dena Nehele.  Each room is clean, well stocked, and made to feel like the very parlors and sitting rooms the aristocracy are unable to sully with their darker wants.

While rumors circulate as to the true identity of the Silken Lady herself, that is a closely guarded secret.  Though her presence is felt throughout the entire establishment.  Those who have come face to face with her do not speak of the encounter either out of fear or the inability to put into words exactly what they saw.  Most correspondence with the owner is handled through sealed, immaculate letters delivered by foremen that have been assigned by the lady herself.  Anonymity is the name of the game and that theme is carried throughout upper management to protect identities of guests and owners alike.

Admission into the Silken Lady is by invitation from an existing member only.  Any who wish to seek entrance to the Silken Lady are required to fill out an application to be sent to the establishment with references from existing members.  Those who do not follow the strict rules set by the Lady and enforced by her foremen are banned from the establishment and blacklisted from certain social circles.

Guild Connections

While the Silken Lady exists as a place for the aristocracy to go for their needs, there is a motive and a price for such luxury.  Whether the aristos know the unstated price outside of the contracted coin they are paying, is up for debate.  Deep within the walls and the infrastructure of the Silken Lady is the Guild laying in wait.  The steely fingers of the Guilds are everywhere within the frame of the building and the ears of the Shaos are at every door.  While most of the employees of the Red Moon House are not Guild, their direct supervisors are.  Every foreman on the floor of the Silken Lady has been hand picked by the Shaos with approval by the Silken Lady herself.

On the surface, The Silken Lady operates just like any business.  From external eyes and to the eyes of the workers of the establishment it’s just that… a very nice Red Moon House with an exceptional reputation.  Only those who have been specifically assigned and placed by the Guilds know for sure they are employed by the Guilds.  Everything else is merely whispered speculation.

Contracts

Within the Guilds, the Silken Lady is a known location for gathering intel as well as working contracts on the Aristocracy.  Those Guild Members that work contracts within the walls of the Silken Lady are very aware of the proper etiquette required of them while working contracts there.  All contracts that wish to take place in the Silken Lady need to go through Raluca Vaduva, the Shaos Leader, with approval from the Silken Lady herself.

Employment

Those who seek employment within the walls of The Silken Lady undergo extensive training by upper management.  The Silken Lady only employs workers for services rendered.  There is no known room for growth and promotion within the establishment as far as anyone can tell and yet there always seem to be enough foremen and upper management to smoothly operate the business.

Playable Characters
Those that are interested in either having employ at the Silken Lady may reach out to Dany for standard members of employment and Dany and Em for Shaos members of employment.

Dena Nehele / The Guild Bulletin Returns
« on: Dec 30, 17, 12:48:17 PM »
In an effort to promote more guild play (and hopefully make the guilds more fun and interesting), I have written up some contracts for our guild members. These can be completed as solo threads, focusing on showing your character's skill or character development, or you can incorporate other players into the mix for a full thread. IC payment for your work can be assumed, and you will receive your points based on the thread you write completing the contract (the usual points granted at the end of the month for posts made during the month). I am sorry, but no additional points will be granted, as this is just for fun.

In the future, I hope to have members playing in the territory contract the guilds for themselves (as the current ones all involve NPCs), in which case, they would be available for play within your thread as well. If you play a character who would like to contract a guildsman in this manner, please let me know! Again, this would be just for IC development and fun.

You may take only one contract at a time. After that contract is complete, you may return here to take another one.  To take a contract, reply here with which envelope you would like to take. I will PM you your guild contract based on the envelope chosen. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. If you decide not to fulfill the contract, please let me know so that I may repost it for someone else to take.  Please be considerate of all players in play and leave enough for everyone to participate.

If you have an idea for a contract (whether you play a character here or not) let me know!  I'm always looking for new ideas to help keep people interested!  Also, these are not the only guild contracts out there. As a guildsman, you are free to make up your own contracts that your character has taken (as long as they are within the realm of possibility for the guild and territory) for your character development or plotting purposes.

Distinguishing Features:

Personality

Personality:
It is often said that the calmest, stillest waters hide true turbulence.  In the case of Laszlo Quertis, that is exactly the case.  Though what is turbulence to most comes as a natural rhythm to the Warlord Prince.  He has become so in tune with his own tortured state, Laszlo is almost completely immune to the point of numbness.

Laszlo only has two relationships worth any weight to the Warlord Prince.  He absolutely loves his twin brother and would kill for him.  Of the pair, Laszlo has taken on a majority of the responsibility for their social interactions to spare his brother any discomfort of having to actually attempt to communicate.

Unlike the relationship with his brother, Laszlo's relationship with his mother is devastatingly codependent to an extreme that has stunted him as a functional adult.

Likes:
  • 1 - His Mother- Mother is kind.  Mother is beautiful.  Mother is nurturing.  Laszlo loves his mother more than anyone... excluding his twin.  Anya Welvert is Mother Darkness embodied for Laszlo.  He will do anything she asks of him.
  • 2- Crispness- Having grown up in the Welvert house, Laszlo got used to the idea of things being crisp and clean.  Everything seemed to have a precision that was comforting in its consistency.
  • 3 - His mother's medicine- Laszlo has never asked what is in the little metal flask his mother gives him.  That is not his place.  All Laszlo knows that despite the taste and smell it makes him feel better.  If Laszlo runs out or forgets to take his medicine, he gets very ill.
Dislikes:
  • 1 - Milo Welvert- His father has never liked him.  Maybe it's because Mother has always favored him.  Who knows?  The only thing that Laszlo is certain of is that Milo has always treated him with a bit of hostility and a cold shoulder.
  • 2 - People who treat Neston as if he's incapable-  Laszlo knows that his twin brother has some issues.  None of them can hold him back.  Anyone that chooses to treat Neston as if he's less somehow meet the inevitable wrath of Laszlo.
  • 3 - Sleeping alone- Since they were small children, the twins have always slept together.  Not only for their own safety but for Neston's comfort.  If forced to sleep alone, Laszlo can't do it.
Fears:
  • 1 - Losing Neston - No matter what, there is no one else for Laszlo than Neston.  They both require the other in order to survive.  Though Laszlo is sure his mother would take care of him if something happened, the warlord prince is sure he wouldn't be the same if he lost his brother.
  • 2 - Being poisoned - Their mother was poisoned.  Laszlo had to watch his mother fall ill and die and having witnessed such a thing, the warlord prince will do anything to be spared that fate.  Often, Laszlo hesitates before taking food and drink unless he is watching others eat from the same plate.
  • 3 - Healers - Like his twin, Laszlo hasn't had the best luck with healers and because of it, he is incredibly uncomfortable with healers and those that feel they know more about his health than he does.

Character in Play:

"My mother taught me everything I know."
Laszlo's smile seemed sweet enough, his angelic face divulging any of the chaos happening just below the surface as he sat in the Keep Master's office.  When he smiled, one would almost believe that he really was just a sweet, darling young Warlord Prince was was as charming as his features were delicate.

As the male turned to pull something from his shelf, Laszlo's smile dropped as he glanced as his brother.  His truest of companions.  The only one who really new him... Even more than Mother.  They locked eyes beryl blue locking with brown so dark they appeared black.  They were in.  As the male turned back to them, Laszlo's smile returned just as easy as it had vanished.  "We are very happy to be working in the court.  Our mother says it's the best experience a young man can have."

And Mother was always right.  Smiling cheerfully as the older male led Lasz and Ness down the hall, the Warlord Prince kept a hand on his brother's elbow.  While Ness seemed like the more reserved of the two, he was truly the dangerous one.  Even with his limp that wounded his gait and made him appear fragile.  "This truly is a lovely keep."

*It would be a real shame if it should burn to the ground.* Only Neston would hear that and that was entirely fine.  Getting a slow, shallow smile from the other Warlord Prince was all that Laszlo really wanted.  This would be trying for them.  A real challenge.  But Laszlo loved their mother enough to do it for her.

As the Master left them to their new room, Laszlo helped Neston sit on the stiff bed as he used craft to push the two single beds together.  "Don't worry.  I wont leave you.  Nothing can make me leave you."

Play By: David Sullivan
Distinguishing Features:

Personality

Personality:

Withnail has always loved sheep.  Sure, they bleat and can be stubborn but so can people.  And people tend to give you less of a strange look if you just pick a sheep up and force it to go where you want it than if you attempt the same maneuver with people.  Well.  You could.  But it's generally frowned upon in most civilized places.  His passion for his sheep, the process of shearing them and preparing the wool for sale has made Withnail a fairly successful businessman Portrane.  At least, as successful as a jewelless bloodmale can be.

As one of Blodwen's favorite cousins, Withnail is used to spending time with the courts though his current position is the sheep and wool master.  While he is a bit of a rough around the edges kind of guy, being a man who spends most of his time around livestock, Withnail can be quite charming when he wants to be.  It's even been said that he could sell wool back to the sheep it came from.  Though he can survive in a court environment, Withnail is much more comfortable in a homier environment.  Which is a fact that has never been lost on Blodwen.  Part of what makes their bond so strong is their understanding of one another.

Withnail struggles with the fact that he has no jewels.  His birthright was a colossal failure and a huge disappointment for Withnail.  Though he knows his family and Queen love and respect him, Withnail can't help but feel and overwhelming sense that all of his potential is floundering.

Even though Withnail feels a great deal of inadequacy, Withnail is a boistrous businessman having a great deal of knowledge and passion for his trade.  Withnail is also fiercely protective of his Queen, his family, and what he does for a living.

Likes:

  • 1 - Sheep - Withnail grew up around sheep.  They're his favorite thing in all the realms as they don't talk back and they're life and wealth giving creatures.
  • 2 - Family - Having a large family meant always having company and someone to rely on as well as to share the spoils of hard work with.
  • 3 - Being a smartass - Being jewelless has always meant that Withnail has always more or less on his own when it came to things.  He was too powerful to be landen, not powerful enough to be truly Blood.  As such, he has had to rely on being a complete and total smart ass.
Dislikes:
  • 1 - Black Widows - While part of Withnail knows that fearing black widows is ridiculous superstition.  But that doesn't stop the Warlord from being irritated with them for the amount of strain they've put on things.
  • 2 - Ignorance - Living where he does, doing what he does, Withnail has an unobstructed view of how life works and those who are too lazy or ignorant to open their eyes are a great amount of waste.
  • 3 - Cheap things- Withnail prides himself on being a craftsman of some of the best wool products in Scelt.  People that can't put the time and effort into making something irritate the Warlord.
Fears:
  • 1 - Being the reason Blodwen can't bond- It would be Withnail's greatest sadness if he found out that his bond with Blodwen, as a jewelless male was the reason why she struggles to bond with anyone else.
  • 2 - Something happening to Blodwen - Withnail is entirely loyal to his cousin and wants nothing but the best for her.  With the political landscape of Scelt at the moment, Withnail worries that Blodwen could be next.
  • 3 - Having the Lyon Clan be dissolved- The last thing Withnail wants is to see his Clan fall by the wayside.  So much hangs in the balance.  If Lore were to decide they were a threat, Their family would have nothing to go on.
Life Story

Family:
Mother: Dohmnal Lyons - Warlord - Yellow - Rose (57, 140 PP)
Father:  Whilemena Lyons - Witch - Yellow - Summer Sky (60, 131 PP)
Siblings:
Dhav Lyons - Prince - Tiger Eye - Summer Sky (25, 166 PP)
Lute Lyons - Healer - Yellow - Tiger Eye (29, 162 PP)

History:

Withnail was practically raised with the sheep.  As soon as he was able to walk, Withnail was out in the grass with the herd.  If his parents would have let him, he probably would have slept out in the pasture with the sheep.

Like a howl that was a long way off, months before Withnail's birthright something within him began to stir and awaken.  It left Withnail with a feeling of restlessness and a wanting of something he couldn't name or place.  It was then that WIthnail found company and comfort in his beloved first cousin, Blodwen.  Who was herself a young Queen waiting for her birthright as well.  Of all of his family, Withnail feels the most connected with Blodwen.

What happened at Withnail's birthright was something the Warlord couldn't have seen coming.  The slow build up of uncomfortable energy was nearly unbearable by the time it was the early morning of Withnail's birthright.  Withnail had hoped that with the guidance of the priestess, that feeling would dissipate and his jewels would help harness that restless amount of energy that was driving the Warlord to madness.

But what Withnail had hoped for and what he got were two different things.  Instead of coming away with a jewel and a sense of relief, the Warlord came away empty handed with a great sense of loss and abandonment.  The Priestess couldn't explain what happened as she hadn never seen something like this happen in person who felt such a strong stirring in their chalice.  While she had seen people through unsuccessful birthrights before, never with someone who seemed to show so much promise.  All she could tell Withnail was that sometimes the Darkness tested them and it must have something in store for him.  That did little to appease Withnail and did nothing for the uncomfortable feeling of being overfilled with energy.

Ever since that day, Withnail has felt the ever lingering feeling that someone or something was calling for him to answer and Withnail had neither the voice or the ability to answer it.  When it  came time to attempt an offering if he so chose, Withnail declined knowing that another failed attempt would just destroy him.   Without any means to sooth himself, Withnail turned to an unlikely source of comfort.  Blodwen.  It would figure that a queen with the limited bond and the jeweless male would bond.  But they did. Hard and fast.

With the familial link and the Queen's bond, the pair are very close knit even though Blodwen serves as Queen and Withnail is a man of a simpler life - even occasionally sleeping outdoors with his sheep.

Character in Play:

The chilly sensation of sweat rolling over his skin pulled WIthnail from the troubled web of sleep that the Warlord had been ensnared in.  That distant tingle had been growing for days now.  Blodwen had even noticed his building agitation and had suggested that he step away from the court for a few days to collect himself.  So that was what Withnail had done.

Getting out in the open air with his favorite flock always seemed to help.  But hte slow creep of anxiety and too much pressure always seemed to get worse before Withnail could begin to feel any relief.

And that's exactly where Withnail found himself.  Sweat all but poured off his naked body soaking his heavy blanket that he was under making the blanket stick and cling to him.  With a great deal of effort, Withnail pulled the blankets off his body, sighing at the cool air as it hit his feverish skin.

Withnail could feel the blood pounding furiously through his veins as desperately as his heart bashed against his ribcage.  Each breath that the Warlord took was a fight to steady himself, not to drag in each breath in a panic.  He had to calm himself.  Taking in a slow, shaking breath, Withnail pressed his hand to his ribcage.

As Withnail laid there, staring at his ceiling his mind was elsewhere.  Though his eyes were open, they saw nothing of the worn surface of his ceiling.  Withnail tried to pull himself together, to force the energy out before it ripped its way out.

With a curse and a tired sigh, Withnail rose from his bed and pulled his blanket around himself.  There was no reason to get dressed as there was no one for miles.  Walking out the front door of his modest home, Withnail couldn't help that his sheep were lining themselves up as though there was a storm coming.  Could they sense the storm building within him?  Or did he wooly darlings know something he didn't?

Character in Play:

There were certain sounds that when heard, change the course of one's life.  The laughter of loved ones, the first cries of new life, the shallow last breaths of the dying.  Fulcrum had heard them all and yet the wet, ragged gasps of his own death still heavily outweighed any joyful sounds that hung in the great balance that was his existance.  It took a great deal of wisdom to see all ends and Fulcrum had lived to see his own demise and had crawled his way back from it.  There was a level of ambevelence that came from kissing the Darkness and living to tell the tale.  Fulcrum considered it a reward of wisdom many never earned.  It didn't stop the twinge of panic every time the nightmares returned.

Appearance

Distinguishing Features:
As a reminder of the way things are, Marius wears his broken Sapphire jewel as a badge of honor and survival.
Marius has patches of white hair around his temples.  While many assume it is due to age, Marius's hair has been that way since his breaking.

Personality

Personality:
Marius has always been a loquacious soul.   Social gatherings, parties, weddings, court event, and even funerals are Marius's favorite cup of tea.  Interacting with people, doesn't matter who, is Marius's true calling in life.

While Marius is charming, there is a bred in military cunning to everything Marius does.  Marius views every social interaction as a means to a gain... even if it means manipulating the person he's speaking with.

Unfortunately for Marius, charm only does so much to counteract stubbornness. Not that Marius is always right... he's just always right.  Right now.  Because he says so.

Even though Marius is loyal to his brothers to the death, Marius has one soft spot that's nearly an addiction.  Women.  Women are the air, water, and soul of their kind to Marius and he's not one to hide his affection for women.  He's even been told it comes off as mildly creepy.  Not that it bothers Marius.  He will just use that to get what he wants.  It is even rumored that Marius may have a child in every territory their Navy has visited.

While Marius will never admit the validity, some have guess that Marius's tender reaction to women is based on what Marius feels is a total failure on his part to protect his younger sister.  Marius would rather be damned than to fail a woman a second time.

Of all four brothers, Marius has the most contacts.  There is not a corner of their territory that Marius doesn't have a friend or three in.  Most social contacts Marius has made were made through some deal or another.

Likes:
  • 1- Women- Every woman, noble, peasant, landen, Blood, or Red Moon House maiden.  It matters not to Marius.  Marius has an overwhelming desire to "sample" every woman he comes across.
  • 2- Social Gatherings- If there was one thing that Marius enjoys more than woman-folk, it's gabbing it up with anyone who wants to exchange information.
  • 3- Telling Stories- Marius loves to tell a story. Especially if it's about one of the heroic, tragic, or dramatic things that have happened in his life.

Writing Sample:
It happened the same way every time.  Marius could still recall every detail of the worst night of his life.  That memory always chose to attack pounce on him when he was comfortably snuggled into his satin sheets with a warm, silky feminine body.  Dreams were cowardly bastards that way.  Marius wasn't sure if he actually murmured the word "shit" or if it was all part of the dreamscape.

No longer in his warm, appealing bed, Marius could feel the cold stone under his feet, the air smelled of the late autumn chill that had settled upon the valley.  One of the drawbacks of a lavish home was that the cold invaded every crevice of the stone hall, nipping at his bare feet.  The cold was also a cowardice prick.

The descent into Darkness and the Offering were supposed to be a joyful occasion.  However, in a territory where dark Jeweled blood were treated as dangerous animals, an Opal jeweled Warlord Prince had many a worry when it came to the outcome of his Offering.  Marius had prayed for nothing to happen.  Even in his sleep, Marius felt the tug downward of the Sapphire jewel that stuck to his by sweat. Much like Marius's very expensive sheets.

Already Marius was starting to feel himself slip. Down, down, down into a spinning blackness that was engulfing.  There was no choice but to do something before he wounded up collared, or worse, broken by the hands of his beloved father.  Marius couldn't bring that dishonor on his father.  No, there was only one solution.  Marius was going to have to take matters into his own hands.

That was the only reasonable explanation for a young man to be out of bed at such a late hour.  Or so he thought then.  Adult Marius knew MANY more... reasonable... reasons to be out of bed now.  Never the less, Marius felt all the same sensations, his fingers stroking the glassy face of the dark Jewel, his breath, quick and exhausting... his body wasn't getting anything from it but an increased path towards hyperventilating.

The only place in the entire estate where Marius could do something incredibly stupid without being interrupted by staff, family, or livestock was a small antechamber towards the exterior of the family manor.  The temperature of the room made the cold stone floors feel like a summer's day in comparison.  Marius choked back a shiver.

Marius knelt on the cold, hard floor.  The cursed jewel clutched in his hands.  Closing his eyes, Marius felt the floor fall away.  His stomach dropped out through the soles of his frozen, bare feet as the young Warlord Prince fell through his own inner web.

Picking up speed, Marius felt the strain on his body begin to grow, as if he was actually falling.  If he could just push himself through his own barrier, maybe he could break his Sapphire and save his family from humiliation.

The sensation of hitting your own inner web is like slamming into a brick wall running as fast as you can.  Marius felt the ripping sensation, the absolute burning agony tear through him.

Marius didn't realize he was screaming in his sleep until something woke him up.  The woman beside him nearly shitting herself in terror at the Warlord Prince beside her having a complete melt down in his sleep.

Heart nearly bursting out of his chest, Marius couldn't help but smile at the view of the bare form of the lovely woman... whatever her name was... bolting out of his room.

Race:  Hayllian
Caste:  Warlord
Birth Territory: Hayll
Home Territory: Hayll

Birthright Jewel: White
Offering Jewel:  Yellow
Appearance

Play By:  Anthony Hopkins
Distinguishing Features:

Personality

Personality:
Despite an appearance that may put the image concience on edge, Albus's strengths truly lie in his wit and formidible understanding of Protocol.  Albus knew from a young age that his strengths would never lie in pure brute, jeweled strength.  With this knowledge weighing on the young Warlord, Albus set out to make himself a rival unmatched by any- the truest weapon and shield, Albus believes, is a nearly surgically precise understanding of the Blood's ancient laws- protocol.

Though Albus's nature is genuine and kind, the man has an unsatiable desire to lawyer anyone with his vast knowledge.  Almost as if Albus gets great pleasure out of verbally humiliating anyone with a darker jewel than himself, proving the true power of Hayll lies in knowledge and age.  In complete contrast, the Warlord uses his expertise to aid his Queen, not only in exercising the power of his position, but in education the Queen in the dealings of the realm, and controling the court around her, someone had to.

Having never married nor raised a family of his own, Albus chooses to nuture plan and conquest in the name of the Queen.  So long as Albus lives, Askavi will never have a foothold in Hayll again.  Albus tirelessly plots and plans to defend Hayll from those winged bastards and anyoneu else that would dare be foolish enough to set foot inside the border of Hayll with ill intensions..  Whether it be on the battlefield, in court, or in verbal sparing with anyone foolish enough to question the Warlord's knowledge.  Without many hobbies or friends, Albus has found solice in rules, protocols, guidelines, and order.

It has been brought to the Master of the Guard's attention that on occasion, his nearly voratious desire to be right has made him impossible to deal with.  Unfortunately for those offended by the Warlord's biting tongue, Albus genuinely could care less.  Besides, no where in the laws of Protocol does it forbid a person from being right.

Likes:
  • 1-Protocol- Protocol is always right.  Not only is Protocol the perfect shield, it is the perfect weapon as well.  When in doubt, quote protocol and you shall never waiver.
  • 2-Elettra- The Warlord would never admit this, but Alettra is a woman the Darkness would bow down to and worship.  Her strength truly brings chills to the Warlord.
  • 3-Faro- Albus spent a better part of his childhood in the fertile lands of Faro.  In Albus's opinion, there is no finer place in all of Hayll.
Dislikes:
  • 1-Eyriens- The winged bastards act as if they can just take.  The ego of this savage culture disgusts Albus to no end.
  • 2-Dark Jewels- Jewel strength truly means nothing in the grand scheme of things, especially in Hayll.  Those who think so, well... Albus has a thing or twenty to say to them.
  • 3-Diluted Blood- The Hundred Familes are an important part of Hayll's culture.  The interbreeding of lesser Blood is destroying Hayll's rich culture and it disgusts Albus.
Fears:
  • 1-Askavi's Return- There is no darker place in Albus's history.  The things done to his beloved Hayll at the hands of that savage territory will haunt the Warlord for the rest of his life.
  • 2-Power Hungry Queens- Albus has seen the damage done by Queens who don't know their place in the Triangle.  It terrifies Albus to think what could happen.
  • 3-The successful plots of the fighting faction- The Factions don't have the true best interest of the Territory in mind- only their ambitions. He can only imagine the havok they would cause were a faction to be successful and take control of Hayll in place of a Queen.
Life Story

Family:
Mother:Minerva Vinto- Yellow to Summer Sky Healer
Father: Adolfo Vinto- Tiger Eye to Summer Sky Warlord
Great GrandmotherTourmaline Vinto- White to Rose Priestess
Siblings:none

History:
Born into a fairly successful family that has claimed a well worn spot in the Hundred Families, Albus Vinto knew that just being a member of the Hundred Families could launch any semi-intellegent person into a position of power if they played their cards right.  Soon after the Birthright Ceremony, Albus knew it was going to take far more than braun to get the recognition and power he sought.  It was the advice of Albus's Paternal Grandmother that truly set Albus on the path to become the man he eventually became.  Family lines are everything.  If you don't that- you have nothing.  Age comes second- until you have that- use the brains the Darkness gave you.

With the encouragement of his family, Albus persued an education.  The best education that Hayll could provide.  Without a dark jewel or weighted caste to boast with, Albus had to rely on cunning and a nearly obsessive understanding of Protocol.  It was in the application of the subtle intricacies of Protocol that Albus found his strengths.  Jewels didn't matter when leashed like a cur dog by the bonds of protocol.

It was a a gut tearing day when Albus's great grandmother, Tourmaline Vinto opted to step down from the Senate.  One of the things Albus always looked forward to, even as an adult, was hearing from her the doings of the Senate.  Next in line for the Seante Seat was Albus's father, Adolfo, who preferred the lush, fertile lands of Faro, and as the next in line to the Senate seat, had to choose between the vineyards he had grown to love (along with the Queen of Faro) or take the Family seat in the Senate.  The family knew there was no choice for him. When Tourmaline broke the news to the Warlord, that he would be telling her the stories from there on out, sadness at her stepping down turned to pure nerves, and a desire to talk the ear off the Senate with ideas and thoughts on all the things they could be doing better.

For one thousand years, Albus served the Senate, using his knowledge and understanding to make improvements in Hayll- and annoy the living hell out of anyone who was 'wrong.'  While many used the power of their familial seat of power to better their own personal lives and  Draega herself, Albus saw a bigger picture... the threat of Askavi.  So long as Albus lived and breathed, Hayll would never fall to the savage dwellers of the mountain.  Albus was fairly certain it was this nearly obsessive belief that drew Elettra's attention to Albus.

Convinced that it was Albus's striking personality, and not a strong pushing from the Senate to get Albus the HELL out of the Senate, it came as no surprised to Albus that Elettra chose the Warlord for the Council.  Little did anyone know the pure chaos that would rock Hayll all because of one stupid, petulant bitch.  The very, very wise know not to ask Albus about the Rule of Aleyia.  Not unless they want a lecture as long as the strungle and suffering Hayll suffered at the hands of the power hungry.  To this day, Albus blames the arrogantly dark jeweled for all that is wrong with the realm.  It was the Purge that showed the old Warlord the truth of things.  Aleyia was a weak, cowardly shrew.  But Albus knew that.  And the lovely Queen Elettra proved her mettle and earned what any but Albus would call a tiny bit of a crush.

When approached by Aurelius on behalf of his child Queen about another means of annoying/educating the masses,  Albus couldn't believe his ears.  Master of the Guard.  Him.  The best position available for a man of the Warlord's s particular talents and knowledge.  Or so said Aurelius when he all but threw the position at Albus.  The desire to do right by Hayll, and to bring about a change in the defenses of the Territory, made Albus accept the position gladly.

Writing Sample:
The very walls of the Senate floor shook with the even baritone of the Warlord known as the Mouth of Hayll.  It brought about an almost sickeningly enjoyable sensation the Albus's innards as the finely crafted seats groaned and moaned.  Such excellently crafted furnature was not made for such discomfort.  Especially when the person taking up residence in the seat couldn't sit still out of frustration.

No one spoke out against the Warlord, however.  It hadn't taken long for the Senate to learn it was best to let the Warlord talk and not interrupt.  Adding fuel to Albus's fire would only make for a late lunch, a late dismisal of court, and headaches all around.  All of this- Albus was very aware of.  Did he care that the Senate found him annoying and perhaps a bit proud?  Not a day in his life.  Not ever.

There was no arguement to be had by any.  Albus always planned out anything he ever had to say within an inch of a few carefully placed commas and periods.  Protocol demanded perfection.  It was the only sure fire way to be right every damn time one opened their mouth.  Which was why the night before the Senate met, Albus had spent a better part of the day planning his speech to the Senate.  Every speech, every lecture, every side conversation was a expendature of Albus's finely groomed knowledge of Protocol, rules, and regulations.

Licking his lips, Albus couldn't help but notice the flinch coming from the woman seated nearly in front of him as he spoke.  It drove her absolutely mad when Albus spat when he spoke.  Good thing for them all, the Warlord had spent the better part of an hour quenching any thirst that may be on the horizon in the next week.  No.  There was no stopping the Mouth of Hayll, the Master of the Guard.

Age:  25 (161 PA)
Race:  Nharkavian
Caste:  Hearth Witch
Birth Territory: Nharkava, Kaeleer
Home Territory: Nharkava, Kaeleer

Birthright Jewel: Uncut Summer Sky(banked)
Offering Jewel:  Cut Green(banked)
Appearance

Play By: Yesica Toscanini
Distinguishing Features:
Diminutive in size, Ekani is shorter than the average woman by almost a head and a half.  The delicately petite Hearth Witch has a braid of mahogany trusses that reaches the back of her knees.  Despite her little size, Ekani’s fiery personality almost seems to spill out of her miniscule frame.

Personality

Personality:
The harsh political climate in Nharkava has beat down many a soul in Ekani’s home territory.  While many would consider this a reason to pack up and leave the divided territory, Ekani can't bear the thought of leaving.  There are too many lost souls in need of a warm place to stay, too many that would seek to destroy those who are lost and wandering.  No, Ekani's place is in Nharkava at the Sanguine Maiden.

From early childhood, Ekani had the inner passion of someone of a much more fiery caste.  Perhaps it was the desire to do something more with her gift, maybe it was just the Darkness projecting its belief in the Hearth Witch.  It was Ekani's passion that led her to rebel.  Instead of choosing a side, Ekani has chosen to side with the under dog, those who needed safety and protection.

Ekani has believed since she was a young child that the Darkness has wanted more from her.  Yes, just a Hearth Witch, but the dark Jewels Ekani was gifted with mean much more in the grand scheme of things.  The Green Jewel lead Ekani down a path to much more lucrative and productive uses of her Hearth Craft.

With the inheritance Ekani received from her father's death, Ekani established the Sanguine Maiden, a small, seemingly pleasant inn near the boundary of the Territory of Goa, in the town of Lavanyathan.  While the inn functions as most inns do, there is an ulterior motive.  Ekani's devious personality as led the Sanguine Maiden to become a safe haven to those looking to flee the fighting.  In Ekani's inn, it doesn't matter if you are Blood or Landen alike, so long as you are in the inn for a night's rest and a pleasant meal.  Any others who seek to cause problems in Ekani's inn meat a harsh and brutal end at the hands of the Hearth Witch, often ending up in a meat pie served at breakfast.

Not an evil woman, Ekani has always thought of herself as more of a free thinker.  Never one to waste, Ekani has come up with some rather unorthodox methods for ridding herself of those who seek to cause the young healer trouble.

Likes:
  • 1- A Clean Home- It’s a Hearth Witches prerogative to run a neatly organized, clean, well oiled ship.  It goes against Ekani’s very nature to allow her domicile and work spaces to become unclean.
  • 2- The Smell of Fresh Herbs- In the years of studying Hearth Craft, Ekani has become quite skilled at growing and preserving herbs.  Ekani can often be found making poultice pouches for teas, stews, and a few less savory purposes.
  • 3- A Warm Hearth- At the center of every home and every good inn is a warmth hearth for stories and mirth to flow with spiced ales and wines.  Ekani’s favorite part of the day is to sit before the fireplace and exchange hopes and dreams with those whom she cares about most.
Dislikes:
  • 1- Elitism- Ekani has never approved of the Blood that consider themselves above others, Landen included.  It’s always been Ekani’s belief that the Darkness has granted the Blood their gift to aid the land and the people that live on it.
  • 2- Filth- It is a major pet peeve of the diminutive Hearth Witch for someone to dirty her space.  Her space being anywhere that Ekani can see.  It is always wise to leave muddy boots at the door, and use a coaster, even on the rough wooden bar counters of the inn.
  • 3- Short Jokes- Ekani is well aware that she is a tiny woman.  Being small is not a reflection of what kind of Blood Ekani is.
Fears:
  • 1- Being Discovered-  Ever since the first death at the Sanguine Maiden, Ekani lives in fear of being discovered.  Though all of the evidence is ‘destroyed’, Ekani still fears that someone will catch on to what she is up to.
  • 2- Having the Inn Close- Ekani’s life is wrapped up in the Inn.  If anything were to happen to the inn’s above ground runnings, or underground schemes, Ekani would be lost.
  • 3- Losing Herself- Though Ekani loves the Inn and those she helps, the Hearth Witch is forever afraid that the demanding task of being savior and Inn keeper will wear Ekani away into nothing.
Craft Strengths:
  • 1- Poisons and potions- Through diligent study and careful practice, Ekani has used her knowledge of herbs to perfect the creation of both helpful and harmful potions and uses them in her every day life.
  • 2- Shields- Part of a Hearth Witch’s desire is to maintain her home.  Part of maintaining Ekani’s home is the edition of sight, sound, and physical shields.
Craft Weaknesses:
  • 1- Offensive spells- Ekani would rather baton down the hatches and hide than to fight an opponent head to head.  There is far too much at risk.
  • 2- Cooking Craft- Through years of teaching herself to cook without the aid of craft, Ekani relies more on natural talent to cook as opposed to craft enhanced kitchen skills.

The Basics

Character Name: Nevelle Ammon
Nicknames:
Age:  35 (151 AP)
Race:  Raejan
Caste:  Landen
Birth Territory: Raej
Home Territory: Raej

Appearance

Play By: Noah Taylor
Distinguishing Features:
An unassuming gentleman, Nevelle plays the part of the quiet, gentle butler.  Either from lack of force of person or by training, Nevelle almost seems to blend into the wallpaper.  Everything about Nevelle is meticulously calculated, down to the clothing he wears.

Personality

Personality:
Forever the devoted perfectionist, Nevelle is nearly as passionate about keeping up his front as he is devoted to Kafir.  While Nevelle may not be an overly talkative man, it does not mean that Nevelle isn’t always watching.  There is no more vigilant servant than Nevelle Ammon.  In every day life, Nevelle is the patient, quietly polite footman and servant of Kafir Abada.  By night or by need, Nevelle is a ruthless, calculating, plainclothes assassin.

To call Nevelle simple is to deny that there is more to this man than what is outwardly displayed.  Underneath the gentle, wallflower persona, lies a calculating creature of death and destruction.  If it exists, Nevelle can use it as a lethal weapon.

Despite the lack of outward flamboyance, Nevelle is passionate.  His devotion to Kafir is unshakably solid as well as bordering on subservient.  Any enemy of Kafir is an enemy of Nevelle.  Anything Kafir asks of Nevelle is done with an obedience surpassing some companion dogs.  While Nevelle would never admit to being co-dependant on his master, the man would be truly lost without Kafir’s influence.

Outside of his duties to Kafir, Nevelle is a private, prudish man.  The Blood squander their abilities, acting the fool for all the Realm to see.  Nevelle prides himself on being a deadly, artfully skilled man without the need for cheap magics and witchcraft.  The Blood are disgusting and not to be trusted.  The real power of the Realm rests in the hands of the common Landen.

Likes:

  • 1- Kafir- Despite the master/servant relationship that Nevelle has with Kafir, Nevelle genuinely enjoys the time he spends serving Kafir.
  • 2- Landens- The true strength of the Realm has nothing to do with the pompous Blood that rule.  All truth and spirit lies in the strength of the common Landen population.  Nevelle is deliriously proud to be one of the Realm’s forgotten children.
  • 3- Blades- Though Nevel could use nearly anything as an effective weapon, blades are by far Nevelle’s favorite brand of misery.  There is not a moment, awake or asleep, that Nevelle does not have at least ten, cleverly hidden blades on his person at any given time.
Dislikes:

  • 1- The Blood-  Spare the rod and spoil the child.  The Blood are spoiled, lazy, arrogant monsters who have destroyed the beautiful co-existance of the land and her children.
  • 2- Arrogance- Nevelle knows his place and expects others to know theirs as well.  There is nothing wrong with being a servant so long as one serves to the best of their ability.
  • 3- Sand-  Despite being born and raised in Raej, it bothers the living Darkness out of Nevelle that sand seems to get EVERYWHERE.  As a man who loves to be precisely organized and clean, the grainy residue of sand drives Nevelle to the brink of madness.
Fears:

  • 1- The Landen’s losing their battle- Nevelle is terrified that someday, the Blood will chose to rid themselves of their lesser brethren.  With all of the power that the Blood possess, Nevelle is afraid that it won’t take much to lose the battle all together.
  • 2- Being discovered- Part of Nevelle’s advantage is that he artfully plays the delicate butler.  If his carefully planned ruse were to be discovered, all advantage would be lost.
  • 3- The death of Kafir- Without Kafir, Nevelle has no purpose, no reason to live.  Though it may appear as though Kafir is in need of Nevelle, the opposite is true.
Life Story

Family:
Mother: Nalla Ammon- deceased- servant
Father:  Muhammed Ammon- deceased- servant
Siblings: -none-

History:

Born the only child of a poor, servant family, Nevelle grew up knowing what it meant to work for the very smallest of table scraps.  Back breaking, menial labor was the way of the world and either you died working the job to pay for the measly scraps on your table or you died of starvation, sometimes both.  Growing up in the slums of the Landen neighborhoods of Kemet, Nevelle always wanted and never received.  Nevelle watched his parents work their fingers to the bone and still die hungry, exhausted, and over worked.  It was the Blood that ruled, Nevelle’s father had always told him, who made their lives a living hell.

Nevelle was forever determined not to die the same fate as his parents.  The Blood would not take his life with their childish, selfish ways.  No, Nevelle Ammon would make something of himself and never go without a decent meal again.  Through sheer strength of will and desire to survive, Nevelle trained himself in the art of keeping himself alive by any means necessary.  That included learning the ability to use any mundane item as an effective weapon.

When Kafir came into Nevelle’s life it was as if fate had stepped in, showing Nevelle the true path to a full belly and the path to bringing the Blood to their knees.  Taking on the role of subserviant man slave to Kafir, Nevelle also became the Landen Councilman’s body guard.  Through years of diligent service, Nevelle considers Kafir not only his master and delivery from the slums and riff raff, but also somewhat of a friend.

While Kafir works in the Councils to gain the Landens rights and privileges, Nevelle keeps a watchful eye on other goings on in the Landen world.  The Blood are pompous, devious, spoiled children and will be their undoing if nothing is done to keep them in check.  Nevelle hopes that the formation of Landen forces, The Blood will finally answer for their harsh mistreatment of the Landen population.  If not, Nevelle will die attempting to gain the last bit of peace for his deceased parents.

The sand... it was everywhere.  Nevelle could feel the tiny granules of glass and dirt invading his shoes, clothing, and even the crevices  between his teeth.  The sensation was probably the single worst feeling Nevelle could think of.  It was almost a shameful thing to admit.  Be a long descendant of Raejan Landens and hate the feeling of sand.  But it seemed no matter what Nevelle did... the sand got into every nook and cranny.  As if there was some Blood perpetually following him around, using Craft to torment the man with sand.  If Nevelle didn’t have things to do, he would lock himself in his private room and de-sand himself.  Unfortunately for Nevelle, Kafir had a meeting and his trusty butler never left his side.

If anyone knew that Nevelle wasn’t just a servant, that secretly Nevelle could use the towel he was holding to kill everyone in the room, they probaby wouldn’t allow him anywhere near the meeting rooms.  But, fortunately for Nevelle and Kafir alike, no one knew that the quiet, wall flower at Kafir’s side was far more than he appeared.  Taking stock of the other men in the room, Nevelle’s fingers traced the delicate embroidery of the towel he held, wishing it was one of his blades.  Make a move, I dare you.

Nevelle could barely focus on what was being said.  The sensation of the sand between his toes was enough to drive him to the point of screaming.  Instead of focusing on the words, Nevelle’s bleary eyes focused on the movements the other men in the room made.  If so much as a jerky motion was directed at Kafir, Nevelle’s muscles were poised to strike down any who threatened Nevelle’s beloved master.

Aina Solis was raised to be a porcelain doll.  Her parents treated Aina as if their only child was made of the most delicate lace.

Likes:
  • 1- Parties- Aina was raised to be a pretty Aristocrat that attends parties and looks beautiful in the process.  Aina never feels more at home than when she's schmoozing with the richest people in the realm.
  • 2- Nice things.  Since birth, Aina has been given anything and everything she's ever wanted.  Now that her young husband spoils Aina with gifts, Aina really sees no end to the pampering in sight.
  • 3- Being treated delicately.  Aina grew up being treated as if she was made of lace.  To be treated any other way is an insult to her upbringing.
Dislikes:
  • 1- Being yelled at.  Having grown up always in the right, Aina isn't accustomed to having a voice raised at her.
  • 2- Being told no. Aina is spoiled by everyone.  Those who do not spoil her are often removed from Aina's presence.

Registry Cleanup / Royce Tanneth
« on: Jan 20, 11, 05:58:31 PM »
The Basics

Character Name: Royce Tanneth
Nicknames: Roy
Age:  18
Race:  Scelt
Caste:  Warlord
Birth Territory: Scelt
Home Territory: Raej

Birthright Jewel: Opal
Offering Jewel:  Uncut Sapphire

Play By: Elijah Wood
Distinguishing Features:
Royce speaks with a slight brogue from his home territory.  It adds a lilting, sing-song quality to his voice.

Personality:
The young man that Royce Tanneth has become would probably disappoint his mother if Aislin Tanneth could see her beloved son.  Fortunately for them both, Aislin Tanneth died long ago and took a piece of her son with.  A pale, slight foreigner in a harsh, arid climate, Royce sticks out like the sore thumb and it stopped bothering him long ago.  As much as Royce hates the culture that enslaved his beloved family and destroyed his life, the young man has adapted to the bright, dusty culture that has swallowed him.

As young and innocent as Royce appears to be, there is always a lingering shadow on Royce's face.  His eyes that mimic the Sapphire jewel gifted to him by the Darkness, reflect a shrewd intelligence and a dark understanding of how the world really works.  There is something not wholly all there about Royce though his smiley demeanor does well to hide the fact that he is an unhappy young man.

Royce's sun sensitive biology requires that he cover himself head to toe when outside during the day.  Favoring hats, Royce has a collection large enough to shade a good chunk of the population of Raej.  Though he is no longer a slave and forcibly a member of the Raej society, Royce still favors clothing designs from Scelt.  He dresses in greens and browns.

If Royce could describe his relationship with Asenath Bast, it would be sadomasochistic.  The idea that their relationship is frowned upon only makes Royce want to be friends with her more.  Though they have their ups and downs, Royce would do anything, short of sitting in the direct sun for her.

From an early age, Royce always watched his mother, as a natural black widow, weave webs.  Though Royce is not a Black Widow by birth, his mother taught him to weave extraordinary illusion webs.  In a means of keeping some part of his mother alive, Royce has continued to study on his own the art of weaving webs.

Likes:
  • 1- Rain- Royce was born in a territory that was lush and lively.  The parched land of Raej is a stifling heat is unbearable.  The few times that Raej sees rain, one could bet their jewels that Royce is outside, soaking up the moisture like a dehydrated plant.
  • 2- Asenath Bast- The daughter of the Coven Head is the closest thing that Royce has to family or friends.  Though she is barely a girl, “Lady Ace” triggers desires and sparks within Royce that he cannot deny, nor can he stop himself from enjoying their sadomasochistic relationship.
  • 3- Black Widows- Royce has spent countless hours at the side of many black widows.  Whether they realized it or not, Royce was absorbing everything they did.  The Widow's strength and skill at deceiving those around them has always been a fascination of Royce's.
Dislikes:
  • 1- Slavers- As a young child, Royce was taken from his family, his territory, and everything that he knew.  Forced from his plush world, Royce was scent to what he perceived to be a place worse than Hell.  If Royce could have his way, he would kill anyone who enslaved another person.
  • 2- The heat- Being from a we climate, Royce's delicately colored skin and eyes have taken a beating in the blazing heat of Raej.  Royce does everything in his power to avoid going out in the daylight.  The only time Royce goes out of doors without a fight is after the sun sets.
  • 3- Odji- The High Priest is on Royce's list of people to one day kill in his sleep.  Not only does the Priest probably have his hand in the slave trade of Raej, Odji seems to have drawn the attention of Ace.  As far as Royce is concerned, if anyone should have a chance at Ace, it should be him.
Fears:
  • 1- Slavery- Royce remembers very little of his homeland.  What he does recall seemed very beautiful and peaceful.  What he doesn't remember is what the benefit of taking a small child from his home was.  Though he is free now, Royce will forever fear getting thrown back into that life again.
  • 2- Fading memories- Unfortunately, as Royce grows older, the memories of his mother are slowly beginning to fade.  Even though Royce still dreams of his late mother at times, he is terrified that one day he will forget her entirely.
  • 3- The blazing sun- One of Royce's biggest fears is the sun.  The climate hasn't been easy for Royce to acclimate to and it obviously effects Royce's demeanor and attitude.
Craft Strengths:
  • 1- Weaving Webs- Though Royce is not biologically a Black Widow, his mother trained him from childhood the art of weaving webs.  Because it is not something that comes naturally to him, Royce dumps an astronomical amount of his jewel strength into his webs.  He is quite competent with illusion webs.
  • 2- Illusions- Through his study of illusion webs, Royce has become quite practiced with creating illusions with craft.
Craft Weaknesses:
  • 1-Defense- Because Royce has spent far too much time on his studies, Royce feels that his illusions are good enough that he doesn't need to be concerned about defensive measures.
  • 2- Offensive Craft- Being practically raised a slave, Royce would rather go unseen and unheard.  Despite his dark jewel, Royce doesn't have any confidence in defending himself against an opponent.
Life Story

Family:
Mother: Aislin Tanneth Opal to Sapphire (deceased)
Father: Corbyn Tanneth Blood Opal to Green (deceased)
Siblings:none

History:
Royce Tanneth was always called a gift.  The young child had no idea why.  Born the only child of a struggling couple, Royce was the first and last favorable thing that happened to their young family.  Aislin Tanneth, Royce's mother, knew from the moment she laid eyes on her small son, that the Darkness had granted him a special gift.

As soon as Royce was speaking, his mother took him to her side and began teaching her the ways of spinning webs.  Though not a natural Widow like his mother, Royce quickly picked up on the craft that held his mother's passion as strongly as her love for Royce and his father, Corbyn.  Through his mother's patient guidance and desire to pass along her craft, Royce began weaving beautifully intricate webs of his own.

When the slavers came to Scelt, Royce often wondered if Aislin had seen it coming.  His strong willed mother refused to bow down to the monsters that would take her family from Scelt, the place they called home.  If it hadn't been for Royce, his mother would have died in Scelt.  But the woman's desire to protect her child willed her to survive and train her son to protect himself.  Royce knew from the moment they were captured that his mother's time would be short lived.  He used this information to steel himself in his studies.

Once Royce and his mother were brought to Raej, Aislin served a black widow in the Capital city.  During the small amount of private time they had, Royce and his mother continued his training.  It wasn't long after Royce's Offering that the harsh climate finally took its toll on Aislin and she passed into the Darkness.  It was the death of Royce's mother that finally molded Royce into the tortured young man that he is to date.  His father is somewhere in Raej or Pruul if not deceased.  Royce's searching has come up empty.

Whether it was the drive to see his mother's goals accomplished, or just the desire to see his way out of Raej, Royce continued experimenting with webs, learning by trial and error.  With a Sapphire jewel at his disposal, sheer power often won out over finesse.  It was through Royce's determination that he slowly worked his way out of the squalor of peasant life and finally emerged from the ruins of Slavery.

While serving the head of the Coven, Royce met and grew quite attached to the Coven Head's daughter, Asenath.  The young woman brought out a predatory desire to love and cherish her... along with a strong desire to throttle her while sleeping.  Asenath, or Ace, is Royce's only friend and confidant.  He uses his relationship with her to garner new information about the ability to weave webs.

Writing Sample:
The air of Royce's small chamber was deceptively cool.  Deserts were surprisingly cool come nightfall, the only thing that had kept Royce alive.  The few belongings Royce had were small things his mother had brought from Scelt.  There were some things that he had found in the markets.

One of the only things with real value was rosewood web cradle that had belonged to his mother, and her mother... and probably her mother.  The simple device was beautiful in its delicate nature.  It still struck Royce stupid that such a simple frame could hold such powerful spells.

When night was at it's coolest, Royce threw open his windows and prepared to work.  He only had a few hours before the sun would rise and suck the moisture out of the air.  Carefully seating himself on the cool stone floor, Royce called in the uncut Sapphire set in a metal net.  They had been too poor to have the thing set in a real setting so Royce had traded services to a blacksmith to make the device his jewel  was held in.  Royce enjoyed the look of such raw power in an unaltered form.

Carefully placing the stone around his neck, Royce tapped into the well of power and couldn't help but sigh.  In his every day life, Royce didn't dare use craft.  It was dangerous.  But here, Royce was free to be Aislin's son, a weaver of webs and illusions.

Weaving came almost naturally to Royce as the tangled web came together slowly and surely.  The illusion was a simple one but it took a great deal of Royce's strength to achieve a level of realism.  Asenath was going to need this by morning and with the dawn approaching, Royce forced himself to hurry.

Drawing strength from his Sapphire felt strange, it always had.  It was as if Royce was pulling bits of his self and sewing them into his web.  As the golden light of dawn slowly began to seep through Royce's window and burn through the coolness that lingered in the stone, Royce finished the tangled web.  Soon it would be time to return to the Palace and see Asenath.  But first, Royce was going to enjoy the last few moments of cool air before they were vanquished by the sun.

Birthright Jewel: (banked) Purple Dusk

Distinguishing Features:

Personality

Personality:
The Caretaker of the Keep is a serious, unfriendly man.  Vinson Comtois considers his title a serious responsibility and any who get in the way of that duty are his enemy.  As much as Vinson values his position within the Keep, he also values his solitude and the peace that only a structure such as the Keep can provide.

Despite Vinson's forced solitude, at times Vinson finds it within himself to reach out to the political forces within Little Terrielle.  The interests of the Keep are often the last thing one would consider while dealing out political tactics so Vinson makes sure the voice of the Keep is heard- at nearly any cost.   While exercising the best judgment and the good of the Keep, Vinson's motives aren't entirely selfless.  Known to be a cunning man, Vinson isn't one to walk away without a spoil or two for himself- in the name of the Keep.

A tall man, Vinson's appearance has always resembled one of the stoic pillars of the Keep.   His simple wardrobe consists of only neutral grays and blacks.  Vinson's silvered hair is kept neatly combed and conservatively styled in such a way that would make any thing that Vinson was far older than he actually is.

Vinson is known for his scowl.  There are rumors that Vinson even scowls in his sleep.  It is said that Vinson has two emotions, disappointed and furious.  One can tell when the Caretaker is furious because his silver eyebrow is raised and the vein in his forehead looks as if it's attempting to escape.

Likes:
  • 1 Quiet.  A Keep should be quiet.  It is a place of solace and of peace.  Anyone who doesn't think so, finds themselves removed from the Keep.
  • 2 Solitude.  Vinson is his own best council.  Many fear disturbing the Warlord Prince when he asks for privacy.
  • 3 Order.  Chaos breeds nothing but more chaos and distruction.  Everything within the Keep has it's own place and purpose.  If it does not, it isn't in the Keep for long.
Dislikes:
  • 1 Children.  Children cause nothing but chaos and they are unable to keep quiet.  Children are everything that Vinson hates.
  • 2 Ignorance.  The Keep is a place of learning and sanctuary.  Those two things are only meant for people with the comprehension to know how important it is.
  • 3 Disrespect.  Vinson, as the Caretaker of the Keep, demands that his position within the Blood community be respected.  It is not an easy job caring for the Keep and its residents.
Fears:
  • 1 Attractive women. Vinson, despite his dedication to the Keep, has a severe weakness for attractive women.  Vinson fears he wouldn't be able to control his Warlord Prince tendancies.
  • 2 Losing control.  As a Warlord Prince, Vinson takes considerable care in keeping his stoic persona at all times.  It would be devastatingly embarrassing for him to lose control of himself.
  • 3 Political changes.  The Keep is not able to defend itself from the whims of politics.  Vinson fears what may become of his home if the winds of change should strike.
Life Story
Family:
Mother: Elouise Comtois Summer Sky to Opal
Father: Porthos Comtois Opal to Sapphire
Siblings: none

History:
Even as an infant, Vinson was a stoic, serious babe.  Unable to find delight in anything, his parents often wondered if there was something wrong with their child.  As a young boy, Vinson spent his time with books as opposed to other children.  Their childish games bored and irritated the young man that seemed to lack a sense of humor.

Once out of schooling and gifted with considerable darker jewels than his parents had anticipated, Vinson joined the exemplary list of scholars adamant on discovering the secrets of the Keep, and through the Keep, the Blood.  When the ridiculous arguing over philosophy grew to be too much, Vinson found himself finding solitude within the Keep itself.  There was no need to ask of the Keeps origins, it offered everything Vinson could desire and more without so much as a question.

Vinson's first display of real passion was begging the Caretaker to teach him to care for the Keep.  The second display of passion was the utter joy of being told he was allowed to apprentice for the position of Caretaker of the Keep of Little Terrielle.

Throughout his apprenticeship, Vinson learned a great many things about the politics of the Realm and Territory.  Disturbed by the stance of non-confrontation that the Keep seemed to take, Vinson vowed that when he became Caretaker, no one would step within the Hall without something to offer.

When the Caretaker died Vinson set about a series of changes.  The Keep would always be the Keep but the Caretaker was done bending to the will of those who would not return the kind gestures of the Keep.  Those serving the Keep noticed the subtle changes but didn't dare question the stern faced Caretaker.  Nor did they mind when the Keep became a recognizable force worth answering to once Vinson's reign of control began.

While Vinson has his own motives, the Caretaker is always open to suggestion so long as the price set forth is right.  So long as the future interests of the Keep are looked after, Vinson is willing to offer his support to any who request it.

Little Terrielle is on the verge of something great.  Vinson isn't going to see the Keep miss out on what should be an extraordinary page in the history of the Blood.  Those steely eyes are on the watch for the victorious, for they shall, in the end, see the spoils.

Writing Sample:
The Keep was alive and buzzing before the sun rose, very much like the Caretaker.  In a desire to keep productivity at a high, Vinson didn't dare start looming about the Keep for at least an hour after they started.

Allowing himself time to properly dress in the delicately perfect way that he always had, Vinson checked and rechecked himself before making his way down the hallway towards the office of the Caretaker.

The servants that worked in the hallways instantly worked harder and faster as soon as the Caretaker's steps were heard.  Vinson's steely eyes didn't need to inspect their work.  The consequences for a job done poorly were far too steep to dare slack off.

As if an aural bubble followed him, all chatter and talking stopped when he was within ear shot, even the Keep itself seemed to still itself.  The Caretaker was the lifeblood, the voice, and the face of the Keep.  Any that wished solitude or sanctuary met with the stony faced Caretaker first.

Retrieving the pewter key from the chain around his neck, Vinson unlocked his chilly office and stepped inside.  Vinson swiftly locked the door behind him and began the precursory inspection of his office.  The housekeeper knew better than to have one thing out of place.

Vinson ran a pale, stiff finger across the polished marble of his desk, inspecting his finger pad with a look if disgust.  This wouldn't do.  No.  It was time for the Caretaker to find a new housekeeper.

The Basics

Character Name:  Alurian Zulanya
Nicknames:
Age:  1,300
Race:  Eryien

Caste: Hearth Witch
Birth Territory:  Askavi, Terreille
Home Territory:  Hayll, Terreille

Birthright Jewel: Rose
Offering Jewel: Purple Dusk

Appearance

Play By: Christina Ricci
Distinguishing Features: After having the misfortune of being born in an Eryien warcamp, Alurian was once again cursed with the misfortune of being a bit clumsy.  To most, it would seem a small problem, but to Alurian's over bearing father it was an unforgivable trespass.  Since the young woman was incapable of keeping her wings under control, Alurian's father had them removed so the entire realm would know of her failure as an Eryien.

Personality

Personality:
Despite the abuse of her childhood, Alurian is a warm and approachable woman, despite any inner turmoil.  At all times, Alurian is out to prove that she is no longer the clumsy, silly child her father saw.  Though Alurian still has a clumsy streak about a mile wide., she is skilled in nearly every hearth craft, doing them with precision and elegance a dancer would be envious of.  If only Alurian could make it the four feet to show some one without stubbing a toe or falling on her face.  Alurian attempts to conceal her “defect” by confining herself to the work quarters and her own personal space.

Alurian is timid and shy at best, still finding the Eryien slave woman mentality hard to break.  After the experiences in the war camp, Alurian has a difficult time carrying on a conversation with any male without a barrier between them.  While she finds Haylian males interesting, Alurian has yet the courage or the backbone to do anything more than watch from a distance.  There is still an unknown element to the male species that Alurian doesn't understand, and does not wish to understand.

Hearth craft has been Alurian's escape since she was a child and now uses her skill as a way to escape from the rest of the world.  She takes herself and her craft a bit too seriously for her own good.  She has been known to be overly critical of her work, though others find what she does extraordinary.  Despite being hyper critical of herself, Alurian could spend hours on a loom, or in a kitchen without batting an eyelash.
Likes:
-Clean kitchens.  Alurian has trouble keeping her own feet in check.  Having a dirty or cluttered kitchen just makes her job all the harder.
-Gardens.  With out a doubt, if she could get away with it, Alurian would live in a garden if someone let her.
-Open space.  Despite her lack of wings, Alurian is an Eryien at heart and hates being cooped up in small spaces.
Dislikes:
-Large groups.  Alurian is self conscious at best.  Being surrounded by people only aggravates her clumsiness.
-Stuffy people.  Alurian is a free spirit.  People with no imagination or sense of humor strike her as unfriendly.
-Lack of culture.  The hearth witch in Alurian loves learning new trades. If there is no one to learn something new from, Alurian gets bored.
Fears:
-Males.  Males are an unknown and frightening element that Alurian has always avoided.
-Eryiens.   Alurian considers herself banished.  The thought of having to face another Eryien is gut wrenching to her.
-Confinement.  Alurian's Eryien blood still prevents her from wanting to be trapped by anyone or anything.

Craft Strengths:
Craft Weaknesses:

Life Story

Family:
  • Mother: Unknown, died in childbirth.
  • Father:Kolvar, Summer Sky
  • Siblings: Numerous- none worth mentioning.

History:
Alurian was born into a struggling war camp in the mountains of Askavi.  The woman that birthed Alurian was the favorite of Alurian's father and subsequently died in Alurian's birth.  This instantly brought Alurian disfavor.  It was from that moment on Alurian's struggle began.  There was no happiness or comfort for Alurian.  The skills that made her complete were considered second class and insignificant.  Though that didn't stop them from taking advantage of her skills, even if it meant draining the hearth witch to the breaking point.

Kolvar always showered his least favorite child with cruel attention to raise his spirits.  The awkard, clumsy girl that had come from his most beautiful and graceful female, was a constant thorn in Kolvar's side.  It didn't matter what the girl did, she was always a painful reminder of what he had lost.  And for that, Kolvar punished his clumsy, disgrace of a daughter.

As Askavi fell into turmoil, so did the camp.  Fighting with neighboring camps lead to fighting within the camp itself.  As hard as she try, Alurian always found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Her father's tempter sky rocketed along with his consumption of alcohol.  On a particularly lubricated night, Kolvar decided to teach his daughter a painful lesson about life.  The brutal leader butchered his daughter's wings for the whole camp to see and learn by her example.

When the camp moved on, they left Alurian to face the harsh mountain climate alone and wounded.  A slaver camp, following the camps to pick up any stragglers for the market, found the wounded Eryien and took her in.  What Alurian thought was a selfless act of kindness, was in fact, a profit scheme.  They allowed the young woman to heal to the point of being able to be sold and pitched her to the first Haylian house that wanted some diversity.

Alurian was purchased by the Greco household and put to work in the kitchens.  At all costs, Alurian avoids confrontation with the house hold in fears of her infirmities being discovered and the loss of the home she now has.

Writing Sample:
Bitter, ravenous pain bit at Alurian's stomach, telling her that her body craved nutrition.  Despite the urge to curl into a ball to relieve the agony of her abdomen, Alurian could not make her body respond.  She could feel the warmth of her blood seeping out of the jagged wounds across her back and chill in the Askavi air.  The sound of her precious wings being slashed and cut from her body still rang bitterly in Alurian's ears.  Clinging to the stubborn grass where her father had left her to die, Alurian swiveled her head to see the surrounding land scape.  The witch lights of the caravans grew dim and faded into the darkness as the half moon rose, covering the landscape in a dull light.

She had done it this time.  It was all over now.  The goosebumps that sprung up all over her skin went to war with the sweat that was covering her skin.  Alurian was no healer but she knew that she was in trouble.  Warmth was spreading from her back, down her legs, and pooling under her.  Too afraid to look, Alurian knew that it had to be her own blood.  But if she didn't look, maybe it wouldn't be true.  Alurian's fingers began to cramp as she clung to the grass as if she would slip away if she didn't hold on.  Using her jewel, Alurian wrapped herself in a warming shield and prayed to the Darkness. Hopefully, someone would come to her aid.

As Alurian laid under the star filled sky, she listened to Askavi's mountain side.  The land itself seemed to sing, as if lulling itself to sleep with a lullaby.  After what seemed like forever, Alurian felt her eyelids grow heavy.  As her vision faded, the sound of voices in the distance peaked her interest for only a moment before the young Hearth Witch was pulled into unconsciousness.

    The Basics

    Character Name:  Gizella Graco
    Nicknames: Ella
    Age:   375 (19)
    Race:   Hayllian

    Caste: Queen
    Birth Territory: Hayll
    Home Territory:   Hayll

    Birthright Jewel: Tigers eye
    Offering Jewel: Rose

    Appearance

    Play By: Ksenia Kahnovic
Distinguishing Features: Gizella is very beautiful, with years of training on how to walk and speak to make her graceful and eye-catching. She also tailors her own clothing, to make it more unique, making her stand out.

    Personality

Personality: Selfish, spoiled, manipulative and clever would best describe this ambitious little Queen. She can feel genuine emotion, but she's fairly apathetic to others worries other than her own. Something has to be shoved in her face, and affect her, or her goals for her to notice it usually. She craves flattery on her appearance, her 'charm' and her dress. She will do anything to stand out, and shine, will do anything to gain what she wants. She's been groomed for it, without this goal she would feel like she was nothing, and be lost. She's vindictive towards people who say things bad about her, or get in her way. Her only honest emotions are for herself, and her sister, everything else is geared towards being the Queen of Hayll, a role she believes she was born for.

Most people cannot live up to her expectations, especially servants and those she deems 'beneath' her. Servants are not allowed to touch her hair especially, which she keeps long and loves to style. Her clothing is always tailored to her, and she always alters the tailoring. Because of this, she looks down on tailors for not being unique and creative enough. People who are lower classed to her are because they want to be, or aren't 'trying' hard enough.

All in all, she has the potential to be smart if she paid more attention to reality instead of just seeing what she wanted to see.

Likes: Being told she's pretty: Appearance is very important to Gizella, she grew up being told she had to look good, and with her, flattery will get you everywhere.
Being the center of attention: She is ambitious, and likes to flaunt her beauty and her caste. When others acknowledge her, she feels she is getting closer to her end goal of being Territory Queen.
Power: Gizella wants power over others. She loves feeling like she's in control.
Her sister: The one person Gizella genuinely cares about is her sister, who had always been in her corner.
Dislikes: Being insulted: Gizella is affronted by others looking down on her, or saying she is wrong, or that there is something wrong with her. She's been spoiled all her life, basically been told she's right for the role of ruling all of Hayll.
Peasants/Commoners: They are below her, she's always been told this. They are 'less' than the rich folk, and they don't matter.
Not being acknowledged: Gizella goes out of her way to look her best, act her best, seem her best, and she does this because she wants others to see her, and want to talk to her. When someone doesn't do this, it pisses her off.
Fears: Failure: To not become the Queen of Hayll is her biggest fear. She rarely thinks about it, assuming she will. Without that goal, her life has no substance. Its all and everything she's ever tried to have or be.
Losing her sister: Xaviera is as much a part of her goal as she is, and she couldn't imagine making it to the top without her sister, who is always there, helping her and guiding her.
Being broken: the wave of power that killed their mother let Gizella have a glimpse of the terror of possibly dying, or becoming less than what she is. Without her power, she cannot rule.

Craft Strengths:   A lot the hearth craft that goes into making one look good, especially moving objects. She's decent at shielding, and the basic Queen abilities she's been trained in.
Craft Weaknesses: Anything physical, to make one more powerful, stronger, or enhance ones senses.

Mother: Letizia Greco – Rose to Purple Dusk Jeweled Priestess (Deceased)
Father: Prospero Greco – Yellow to Rose Jeweled Prince
Sister: Xaviera Graco - Rose to Summersky Black Widow

    History:

Born a Queen in Hayll, a land at political war, she was trained from birth to value her blood line and caste above all else. Her older sister, Xaviera, was a Black Widow, who she grew up depending on to help her gain more position and power, both knowing all along the way that this would help both of them in the long run. Her birthright Tigerseye might have been a bit of a disappointment initially, but she believed her family name and caste should make up for it, and fought her way through simpering parties, and half truths to try and make her way into a higher place for her family, and for herself.

By the time she made her Offering, she'd gone through Court training, and learned all she needed to become a master at the dance of words. She knew when to smile, and when so laugh, when to be serious and stern, and how to look so no matter what emotion she was supposed to portray, it looked pretty. She'd had to find a way to stand out with light jewels, and she did this by tailoring her own dresses, refusing to wear anything only made by someone else. She was an excellent seamstress, and hair dresser, and this allowed her to keep her head above water, being noticed for her beauty. If nothing else, she knew she'd make an advantageous marriage for her family.

When the Purge hit, her mother protected her and her sister, preserving them at her own life's cost. This gave her even more drive to be great, and when the aftermath cleared, and it was found there were so few Queen's left, she became one of the darker jeweled ones, though she only wore the Rose. Elated, she used her family name, and her sister helped her, to begin to try and make a way for the goal that seemed so out of reach before: to become the Queen of Hayll. With this goal in mind, she followed her sisters advice, and is slowly climbing the ladder to try and find a way to reach her goal.

Even before the Purge, Gizella did genuinely love her jewels, despite the fact that they 'held her back'. She loves wearing clothing and jewelry that accentuates them, or displays them. She has come to depend on her sister for her opinion on what to wear and who to impress, and almost unquestioningly follows her. It is doubtful she will in time, but it is possible, if she has the opportunity to grow, she'd become a good leader. Probably not a nice one, at all, but a strong one if she grew into the quiet strength beneath the frivolous nature.

Her beauty was flawless, so she knew none could look at her and find her appearance wanting, her light gold eyes beneath sweeping dark lashes always glittered favorably in this kind of light. She could feel her escort's lust for her, but pointedly ignored it, keeping her remarks to him polite...almost like that of a sister would. She almost snickered at that thought. His frustration with her for not even engaging in mild flirtation was far outweighed by his pleasure at being her escort, so she knew she didn't have to worry about him taking his frustration beyond mild dis-concern. He'd get over the fact that she would never look at him twice for the honor of being allowed to touch her arm, she thought a bit cruelly. It annoyed her at times, these males who reached above themselves, he was not even near a list of the males she would ever consider allowing near her in that way, yet he dared let his thoughts wander in that direction.

Not letting this distract her from the attention on her, she allowed her eyes to gently sweep the room, taking in all who were there, and who weren't. The Priestess's made up the majority of the players here tonight, between the three factions fighting for the power of Hayll. She knew the waters held danger here, but trusted her sister's judgement, since she acknowledged that she was still learning on the field. Her job right now was to stay looking pretty while garnering the power and gathering the backing she needed to be the Queen of Hayll. As she made her way across the floor, her sister gliding beside her, greeting and mingling with allies, she felt a surge of want, need for that glorious title. She'd do anything for it, for the power and prestige to and for her family, her sister, and most importantly, herself.

At her sister's request, she was careful not to show her sudden surprise. The High Priestess made her slightly nervous, the woman wore such a dark jewel, and was on the faction opposite her sister's caste, though perhaps their mother being a Priestess would support them in those tumultuous waters. Moving before her sister as usual, in the direction she was indicated, Gizella hid and unease behind a soft respectful smile and a cool composure. First step in these dangerous games was to keep your emotions hidden at all times. The minute fear, or concern was sensed, it could be over for even the most promising aristo. The sight of the near empty room made her more skittish, though her graceful movements easily hid this fact. She was one of the darkest jeweled Queen's left in Hayll, she should not fear this woman...this woman should want to speak to her.

The thoughts should have been sound, but felt hollow and she knew better than to rely on any such thing. Giving the proper respect to the High Priestess whose jewels outranked hers, Gizella bowed as was appropriate and nodded her head towards the dark jeweled woman.

"It is a pleasure Lady Pecaro," Gizella responded smoothly, her voice a mask of polite respect.
