Tender chain-breaker on a bender

Locale: 193, Goth, Little Terreille.

Having left Leo Eldridge in Little Vaasa to sleep off the first bout of Mind Healing that she'd paced him through, a frantic and enraged Duchess penned Silver a letter that had been sent through Dale to find her as quick as her elegant slender fingers could get to him for the Healer to meet her at one of the local bars the woman preferred. Her emotions fluttered and scent had been especially strong upon the letter when typically she was one to take the time that very little "impression" was left behind in her communications. Duchess had made her way to said bar and had been there a good twenty minutes and an hour, waiting to see if Silver would have the time to show with such little notice, or if Dale could find her at all.

Either way, she had plenty of time and money to attempt to drink the bar out of business. Not to speak of determination. Luckily, she hadn't told Dale - the master drinker of water - what she was up to. She wasn't sure if the woman would be able but hoped she might at least before the next cycle of Healing and Leo/Lionel woke. It made her sick, what had been done to him, and she couldn't get it out of her mind. Slender gloved hands shook as she asked for straight whisky, frightening the bartender a little.

There wasn't anything nice or calm about any Black Widow requesting one of the strongest drinks on offer, after all. Nor did she deign to blunt it with any kind of smile or flirtation. Three shots were set in front of Duchess while the 'tender gave her a wide, very wide berth. She'd downed one, and the amount of space behind the middling Jewelled Black Widow increased four-fold. The Duchess of Ralington, when she was in Dharo at least, didn't seem to take note of this respectful fear her Caste was given. She could only shake her head, trying to clear it of the mess she'd seen, drawing one breath at a time.

They'd known he hadn't been well when rescuing the once charming Glacian man. But to see him all but hollowed out hadn't been what Elisabeth had expected. She downed the second shot in a flash, the movement almost too rapid to track. It was rare, very rare for Duchess of all people to either lose her temper or find herself lost in the feeling of helplessness. She had no idea who had done that to the Warlord's mind, and her lower lip trembled to recall it. The third drink went down her gullet and burned a path of fury that she was trying her best to quell and not vent on anyone.

"Please show up. Please don't be busy," she snarled, slamming down the glass, and immediately wincing. "My apologies. Could I have three more, if you please?" The murmur was so polite, but the bartender was by no means fooled by the calm demeanour the Purple Dusk Black Widow presented with.

He set down three more drinks, paling a little when the woman demanded double shots. Far be it for him to question anyone on their preferences, but it was a request he wasn't sure about. "You'll be about your business then, afterward, my Lady?" Elisabeth tilted her head and settled down enough marks to pay for double the amount that she'd ordered. The trouble was, the swimming feeling in her mind didn't last enough to clear it of the travesty she'd seen.

"N-no. I do not think so. But it would be rather dishonourable of me to start a fight in your establishment." She blinked at the man and he flushed at the well-dressed woman. It was the last thing he wanted to assume, that any Black Widow was more than a danger that he wanted to deal with, but repairs were expensive. "I promise. Any funny business and I'll pay for it myself." The tension went out of the bartender.

"I just don't want to lose my business, my Lady."

She smiled, even though she really wanted to smear the man's face into the bar countertop, and the flash of rage had the woman flatten her hands against the said counter. "You won't. Not on my account." Duchess offered a bow that was more a decadent nod of her head and upper body, that was almost too cold in its manner. She didn't care for being accused of something that had yet to come to pass but was very much letting this one slide.

"Leave the bottle, won't you?"

Her whisky brown eyes swept the bar, looking for a familiar face, that could tell her this last insanity was going to be all right. There wasn't any way in any Hell that she could pinpoint a single person that had done this to Leo/Lionel's mind what was worse about the whole thing. She started to knock back a fourth and smoothed her hair back from her face. Most didn't see her as the 'sort' to engage in blinding, blistering sexual activity or alcohol-infused anger because they didn't tend to look beneath or beyond the wrappings she cultivated and curated specifically to avoid looking like that sort of the member of the Blood.

But like any, Elisabeth was absolutely capable. "No really. Leave the bottle. I'll pay for it." She laughed softly. It would take her months at least to delicately piece the man's mind back together. She slumped in her chair, frustrated and unsure of what to do about it because the fact was that there wasn't an enemy to find or trace in this no matter how many times she unfolded what she knew and analyzed it.

"Please don't be busy or fucking or whatever. Damn it." Elisabeth lost track of the time, and the drinks to some extent as only a Duchess could as it passed her by. She was by no means however lost on her own severe privlege compared to some of the other denizens of the bar, and bought two rounds for the house in addition. The cheers soothed her fraying temper.

Silver Thrax was no one's lapdog. She could count on one hand the number of the people in the world who could get away with summoning her without being very, very sorry they'd done so. The number didn't even include all of the Unchained, despite the fact that she'd do more for any of them than she would for most. A call for help? Sure. She'd answer that from just about anywhere, if she was able. But that was a different matter than just sending along a time and place and expecting the Healer to show.

The Duchess, however, happened to be one of the few who never had to ask twice. Whether it was because Silver thought that highly of the woman, or whether she simply understood that the Lady Carlisle would never deign to summon her in such a fashion unless there was a dire need was anyone's guess. In any case, regardless of how willing Silver would or would not have normally been to set aside the distraction with which she'd been entertaining herself at the time, Dale's threaded description of the fury and near-panic that stained the Duchess' letter was enough to set the Healer in motion. One of the reasons Silver got along so well with the Black Widow was that the latter tended to avoid dramatics wherever possible in favor of expediency and reason. If she was that upset... well, it was worth the trip to investigate the matter.

At first, finding the woman well into her cups at the bar confused Silver. She didn't look frantic or furious, at least not from the vantage of the doorway where Silver stood when she first spied her. The Healer lingered there for just a beat, taking a read of the room, the bartender, the Black Widow. She then moved further inside to join the Duchess at the bar, and when she slid onto the bar stool beside her it was with an air of curiosity braided in to the way she beheld the woman.

"Well. You don't look like you're on fire," Silver observed dryly, before leaning in to sniff gently at the alcohol-soaked Widow. "Though I'm guessing that's only cause no one's lit a flame nearby. What's going on?"

Duchess, being the kind and thoughtful creature she was, at least didn't deign to breathe on Silver with her alcohol-soaked breath. She snatched up a handkerchief and covered her mouth, eyes wide as a hiccough passed her lips. She eyed the Healer with meltingly happy eyes which almost immediately filled with tears which she fought to blink away knowing the Grey Jewelled Healer despites theatrics. "Oh thank goodness, you're here! I didn't think you'd have the time to show, but I stayed here hoping for that very thing." She wavered on her feet. It had been a good few hours, maybe? Duchess wasn't sure, but it didn't really matter because Silver was here! The Black Widow had no idea how the Grey Healer could actually help now that she was thinking it through but she was here! The number of glasses in front of Elisabeth and the pleading look on the bartender's face said volumes.

"I didn't know how much I could say in ... in a letter and not directly. I'm terribly sorry if it felt like a non-specific summons." She blinked owlishly at Silver and adjusted her hat carefully, neatly while smoothing the tiny feather in the brim and the tiny little bowtie upon her shirt. Of course, Duchess did get right to the point after that once she'd pointed to the bartender to allow Silver whatever drink she wanted if it was any considering Elisabeth herself had already had enough for 1.5 of herself put together. She cast cleansing Craft then on her mouth, hands and body so that the smell of alcohol was at least SOMEWHAT less, then looked at Silver with a sheepish expression.

"I might have over done it," the Black Widow said softly. "Lionel. His mind. It is completely gone. I've done what I can to stabilize him." And that was the point Duchess' eyes filled with tears even though she once more furiously blotted them away with her handkerchief. "I'm trying to put him back together, but I don't know how much is possible even with my skills. I don't know who did this, but whoever did ... ah, it's terrible. That is what I have been occupied with and ... wanted to tell you."

"C'mon," the Healer tsked, shifting on the barstool so that she leaned back against the bar. "When have I ever not shown?" Though ironically, it was likely the very fact that Lady Carlisle didn't take the matter for granted that Silver had always turned up when the woman called. Head turned towards the Duchess, Silver watched as the Black Widow sought to put herself a little more together. Silver had seen the other woman drunk before, and as much as the Healer enjoyed her libations she'd be the last person to fault someone else for over-indulging. It was weird for the Duchess to be in such a state in public in the middle of the day, however, and in spite of her earlier comment at the other woman's expense it was the deviation from character, rather than the drunkenness, which bothered her. Concerned her, rather. Something had clearly upset the Dharoan, and Silver tried to be patient while waiting for the woman to collect herself and communicate the details.

The Healer's expression shifted gently towards mild confusion at the claim of having 'overdone it', as Silver wasn't sure if the Duchess was still talking about the alcohol or whatever other matter had upset her. Before she had a chance to ask, though, more clues came. Sadly, they only furthered the confusion that painted the Healer's expression.

"I don't understand," she confessed, turning on her stool to face the Black Widow instead of the room. "You're saying someone attacked Lionel? Where is he?"
