Sapphires In Her Eyes
« on: Sep 29, 19, 12:21:54 AM »

He was still in a mood, but it was controlled and precisely so. There were still several business concerns that Breck needed to attend to, but one, in particular, was personal. He had considered it for years, but even more so for the last two especially. He wanted ... this particular favour with enough fervour that it had begun to needle him. He wondered if the Coven Lead might oblige him in considering a discussion. Sitting still at his desk, the well dressed Prince drummed his fingertips thoughtfully while penning a letter. He had no intention of inflicting himself upon a Black Widow of any skill without a polite request. Most especially not the Head of the Hourglass Coven. He had only fought with himself because he truly did not want to end up playing his hand too well, or not well enough in the request that he had to offer forth.

It would require time, but there was little enough risk (read: life risk) as Breck had nothing to lose in seeking the path he was. Blue and Hayllian golden eyes slit thoughtfully. He buttoned his pinstriped vest, leaving the grey coat open as he rose to his feet, studying the polish of his shoes to ensure there were no dull spots. Opening the door of his office, the Master of the Guard of Little Terreille moved to the desk of his secretary, a young Warlord recently hired for his willingness to work. He had sealed the letter just before rising to his feet in a soft gold envelope. The paper with the handwritten note sealed with Sapphire Craft was just as soft as the enclosure. "See to it that this arrives at the Head of the Coven's Office, and nowhere, or to no one else. I do mean no one. If she is unavailable, wait for her return. You will be well compensated for the time spent."

"Yes, Prince." The young man rose to his feet and immediately took the letter to where it needed to go. In receiving it when the Lady Sheane did, the message, in elegant flowing calligraphy that was strikingly efficient was written as follows:

Lady Kasidhe Sheane,

Ideally business among the Coven goes as well as one might prefer, with as little nonsense as possible. I have a particular matter to place before your office if you might be willing to entertain a visit as soon as is suitable. Please write back with an arrangement that suits both our positions, but your needs most particularly. My schedule has been cleared for the next several days if you are available. Do take care, and you have my appreciation for the consideration of my missive. My request is only something that only you very likely may attend to if that helps assuage some minor amount of curiosity.

With respect,

Algernon Henrik Breckenridge, Master of the Guard for Little Terreille

To say that she was surprised to receive a letter from the Master of the Guard would have put it lightly. Kasidhe kept her gaze elsewhere, her instincts as a Black Widow often closer to home. Even the tangled webs she weaved were for a grander scheme of things, though there were the ones that were a more personal variety that eventually found their way onto her very person.

She tapped her finger against her bottom lip thoughtfully, wondering whether or not the opening sentence was a compliment or not. Did the Prince know that things had not been that way with the Coven? Not until she had taken it under her wing, guided it with a firm vision (and stronger will).

Regardless: she was intrigued.

So Kasidhe penned a letter, ensuring that it was to go out with the next runner.

Prince Algernon Henrik Breckenridge,

Perhaps it is fortunate that your missive has sparked a curiosity all of its own that even your words could not truly assuage, even in the smallest sense. Curiosity, I have learned, is best sated or it becomes a beast that is nigh on unbearable to deal with. With that said: a meeting can be arranged post-haste. For ease, and due to the potential nature of your request, the absolute privacy of my office will be made available to you. All you must do is come to the Hourglass and say that you have an appointment. Those of my Coven will see you to me and then we might see to your request and easing our mutual curiosity.

Respectfully,
Lady Kasidhe Sheane, Head of the Hourglass Coven of Little Terreille

How long it took the Prince to show up did not matter. What did matter was that the day he arrived things proceeded exactly as she said they would. He was greeted and, once his purpose revealed, lead through the winding hallways to her office.

Finishing her signature with a flourish, Kasidhe looked up with a smile and stood up. She moved around her desk, following through with the usual formalities of both Protocol and Etiquette. "It is a pleasure to meet with you, Prince Breckenridge, and to sate any curiosity I can." Her smile widened. “For both of our sakes.”

Then he was invited to seat himself, the Black Widow returning to her own. "I've already had some refreshments brought, in case you are parched, but ..." Kasidhe's eyes glinted, impish delight and curiosity all rolled up together. "I admit that I would much rather we skip the pleasantries and get right down to what matter you wish to bring before me that only I can attend to."

He studied the letter received back for a good hour. It offered him a sense of a strong-willed Black Widow - not that such an existence was anything particularly special - with one that had something of attention to details. Also, not a specific or particular trait. One would certainly hope the leader of an organization formed of very deadly women had at least one of those specific particular truths about herself. Of course, Breck did not bother to send a missive in return, and in a single twenty four hour period deigned to send himself instead. Already in a sharpened mood with his Rut approaching in a few weeks time - he was more than old enough to notice the timing - it wasn't something the man wanted to delay. Nor, did wasting a Black Widow's time do anyone any credit to survivability. "I have a scheduled appointment if it pleases," Breck said with as mild a manner as he could produce to the person at the front desk with a polite bow.

He presented himself in elegant attire which more than suited the office building and after explaining he had a meeting already arranged with Lady Kasidhe Sheane, was conducted through the office space with a professional alacrity which would please a Prince of any experience. It soothed his temper just a little. He studied the Head of the Coven with quiet, reserved interest, but even that couldn't entirely bank the fire in his gaze waiting to escape at the soonest opportunity. The eyes were more gold than blue this day due to the gold stitching upon his tie and vest, while Breck had a stubble that was a little less than fashionably long in a match with the midnight hair that was bordering on shagginess. He sat when offered to do as such without complaint. "Lady Sheane." He couldn't entirely hide the faint flash of pain when speaking the Black Widow's surname.

"A pleasure to finally be able to meet you. Water would do plenty well, and I do not mind getting to the point so that I am not making a waste of your day. As you will already have long been aware, I am the Master of the Guard for Little Terreille. I apologize for not making myself available before this day." His voice was soft and to the point save for that controlled ferociousness, a smooth and professional baritone. Approaching said refreshments clearly with the objective of serving himself so that the lady wouldn't need to do more than return to her seat, he reached out and turned his head for permission to touch her belongings. "May I?" A dark brow raised in question, the movements highlighting the golden embroidery along the seams of his vest.
