Appearance

Play By: Chloe Bennet
Distinguishing Features:
Impish, with an air of about to cause trouble about her. That she also can be a bit crude when it comes to talking unless she’s curbing herself is another noticeable quality.

Personality

Personality:
Kasidhe revels in being a Black Widow. Actively seeking to enhance that eerie and unearthly mystique that Black Widows achieve by walking the Twisted Kingdom, she enjoys those moments where other Blood - and Landen - have no idea what to do with her. She delights in defying expectations, being unpredictable and operating as something of a wild card. No one expected her to rise up and corral the remaining Black Widows of the Hourglass Coven and it pleases her in ways that sex cannot always touch.

Yet in her heart there’s a hole; it may be a black hole. Kasidhe is always looking for something to fill the gap inside of her, a need to satisfy the emptiness that comes because she can be capricious and never entirely sated with what she accomplishes. Her Black Widow nature shows in this, fickle and mercurial, enjoying something wholeheartedly one moment and being absolutely done with it the next and searching out the next delight. Whether that is a person, place, or thing, it does not matter, she will attach to it in some manner and pull everything she can from it before leaving it behind.

The daughter of a Prince, she prides herself on her ability to be both efficient and capable. It’s to the point that she gets overly possessive of that which she runs and those that are part of her Hourglass. Everything would be better, she thinks, if everyone would just come together and let her help them realize their potential for greatness. Kasidhe is constantly pushing those around her for more, for better, and it can be aggravating that she always expects their best and to follow exactly as she’s lined out. If one does not they run afoul her temper and quickly find out just how vicious she can be, kicked to the curb or worse until they do something to prove that they’re worth her time and investment.

Within a relaxed setting, she is tactile and affectionate. Kasidhe enjoys the sexual nature of being a Black Widow, though she is particular about her lovers as she is often paranoid about those who get close to her being in danger due to her position and plans, and will invade someone’s personal space without thought if she likes them enough. It is in situations like this, at ease and not thinking about what she wants to accomplish, that one discovers just how crude and raunchy the Black Widow can be. Just another way to pull reactions from people, to enjoy that rush of defying expectations, she is likely to never stop pushing at boundaries.

That said with clear cut boundaries she does behave herself. It is not enjoyed but she knows well how to behave at Court and present herself. There is no fun in it but it is something that must be done if she wants to accomplish everything she wants to. It just so happens that what she wants is organized chaos and she is out to see if that is possible.

Likes:
  • Being a Black Widow - It is not possible to name something about being a Black Widow that Kasidhe does not enjoy. From the abilities it has granted her to the perceptions (and misconceptions) that others have about being one and about her, she enjoys every minute of it. That this may be due in part to the fact that her mother was ran off because she was a Black Widow is not lost to her. She will embrace all those things that make people uncomfortable about Black Widows and make them realize what they’re missing out on.
  • Working with Poisons - It is art, Kasidhe will tell you, being able to carefully mix Craft and poison together. She enjoys being able to create, alter, and otherwise cultivate deadly and exotic poisons. Each has a different use, some are not necessarily even for killing, and she finds it relaxing to let herself simply work in quiet and create.
  • Nighttime - There is something about the darkest hours that bring Kasidhe to life. It never fails that there is something of a haze that clouds her mind during the day, as if she is not truly awake despite the fact that she is. Come the night everything shifts and she feels more alive than ever. It’s under the cover of dark that she is able to get the most done as she becomes incredibly active and alert. That at night are when some of the more interesting things happen, parties, gatherings, and other events, is probably part of the reason she enjoys night time and the socializing that happens so much.
Dislikes:
  • Minor Disputes - If you are going to be mad at someone, let it be because they did something truly wrong. Did they spill a drink on you? Cross your path on a bad day? Who cares. Kasidhe does not care about these little problems and views them as a waste of her time when they’re brought to her. Come back and talk to her when there was actual physical harm or a murder.
  • Scelt - It is silly thing to dislike but she dislikes the Territory on principle that it did something so stupid as running her mother out of it just because she was a Black Widow. That is nearly unforgivable and while she could one day look past it it is unlikely given that she’s a Black Widow herself. Scelt is stupid and the rampant hatred and distrust of Black Widows puts it on her list of places to ignore forever (or burn to the ground if the chance arises).
  • Independently Minded Minions - If you are given a job to handle stick to that job. Do not decide that you somehow know better, that you can get it handled better some other way, or that you can accomplish more than just that one task by changing it up. That is how shit goes wrong and wrong quickly. Kasidhe has little to no patience for these kind of people in her Hourglass and wants nothing more than to put them in their place. For those wondering their place is ground under her foot because that is where you go when you do not do your job the right way.
Fears:
  • Being Bound - There is nothing about this fear that she can control and Kasidhe hates that. While she is fine with being in closed rooms and tight spaces, she absolutely cannot stand being bound physically in any fashion. More than one lover ran afoul this when they decided to use Craft to restrain her during a tryst. It’s born of the attempted kidnapping when she was younger and the time spent bound before she got free. She’s never been a fan of feeling helpless and being bound and restrained triggers that feeling in her whether she likes it or not.
  • Drawing Attention - Be it Lord Black or otherwise, Kasidhe is under no illusions that she is not the darkest nor scariest thing in Little Terreille. While she has a handle on things now she fears what could happen if she takes one misstep or angers the wrong person. It is partially why she has decided to distance herself from her family. If she angers someone, be it her own head, not the head of those she cares for.
  • Going Too Far - Not the Twisted Kingdom, no, but the depths that she could go to accomplish her goals. She could lose herself to what she wants to achieve, go too far and reach a point of no return. Some part of her does not want to find out that she has no limits, that she will commit atrocities to get done what she needs done, and she fears the day that this comes to pass. Kasidhe knows the potential is there and she fears what happens when that is released as once she sinks the only path before her is further down.
Craft Strengths:
  • Modified Vision Webs (Spider’s Sense) - Though Kasidhe is capable of creating tangled webs that enable her to see things further into the future she instead specializes in a unique brand of vision webs that enable her to monitor for potential dangers. Small and carefully crafted, the webs are left on her person, body or clothing, and break the moment that danger is detected. With the web gone she can no longer use it to determine what exactly the danger is but she at least aware that something is about to go down and defenses trigger accordingly.
  • Poisons (Designing & Crafting) - While other Black Widows may rely upon ingredients and mixing them together with their venom (or other bases) Kasidhe is limited by no such thing. Instead she calls upon her jewels to help her create potent designer poisons that are suited to the needs of a situation. When she does use physical ingredients she is able to use both Craft and her knowledge to strengthen desired elements of the additive to create unique poisons that are stronger than others with similar components.
Craft Weaknesses:
  • Mind Healing - It was learned quickly when she was coming into her abilities as a Black Widow that Kasidhe has little to no talent when it comes to the fine art of Mind Healing. The delicate touch that she has when it comes to weaving vision webs is nowhere to be seen when it comes to trying to patch back together someone’s mind. Unless one wants a bull in the china shop, go to someone else for this delicate work as she always expends too much power. It is something of a sore point
  • Triage Healing - If only she was capable of on the spot and quick healing. It could save her life or someone else’s life. Instead she fumbles when it comes to this, unable to shuffle things around in her mind and do the quick patchwork until an actual Healer can be seen. Kasidhe simply has no talent for it, nor can she wrap her mind around how others are able to simply leave something only partially done and for another to handle.
Life Story

Family:
Mother: Sine Eliott nee Sheane (57 - b. 137AP) - Black Widow - Rose to Purple Dusk
Father: Claude Eliott (61 - b. 133AP) - Prince - Rose to Purple Dusk

Hourglass Coven:
Second-in-Command: Rin no Ariake (24 - b. 170AP) - Black Widow - Summer Sky to Green

History:
Sine Sheane had not wanted to leave Scelt, she loved the land of her birth, but there was no place for her there. Not when Black Widows were constantly under suspicion and not when Eirne Sheane had seen to running her out (a combination of her Caste and being viewed as a threat). It was fate that lead her to meeting Claude Eliott, a young man who was beginning to build his business empire and in need of the assistance of a capable Black Widow.

Their romance was a whirlwind that never faded. Love grew between the two and, even to this day, they act as if they are newlyweds though their marriage ceremony was many years ago. Kasidhe was born only after Claude Eliott had been named Steward for Lady Marchesa Talbot, Queen of the Courtland Province in Little Terreille. That afforded even more protection for Sine during her pregnancy to help ease Claude’s paranoia that something would happen to his beloved wife.

From her first moments Kasidhe was loved by her parents and the members of Court that were her extended family. Raised in the Courtland Court, she was a precocious child that enjoyed following after her father as he performed his duties as Steward. It was when her Birthright Ceremony came that there was a slight shift to things as they had not expected her to come away with an Opal.

Kasidhe’s lessons picked up the pace then, expectations held that she would - in some fashion - become more than just a ward of Courtland in the future. What that role would be was up in the air or it was until her scent shifted and her Snake Tooth developed. Not surprised, Sine immediately began teaching her daughter the ways of a Black Widow, though some lessons came from another Black Widow through the Hourglass.

It was poisons that the young Opal Black Widow took to the most. While she had skill with webs she had a way with poisons that was truly remarkable. Kasidhe was able to get lost for hours trying to concoct things and, on more than one occasion, had inadvertently destroyed flasks and other containers because she was learning the strength of her poisons and just what they could do beside poison.

Near tragedy struck when she was seventeen and one of the gangs within Little Terreille had thought to kidnap her as a means to come at her father and his business. Kasidhe only has snapshots of memory of this time, barely remembering anything beside being bound in a dark and dank room. It was Jonothan Harmaa, a man who made use of her mother’s skills as a Black Widow and her father’s skill and trade as a businessman, and his crew that had rescued her. She had been found pinned by one of the captors after she had managed to free herself. The worst might have happened then and there, Kasidhe broken upon his spear, if not for Jonothan. Beyond grateful, Claude was indebted to the man for saving his daughter, though Kasidhe still insisted (and does to this day) that she was only a moment from dealing with the man.

From that moment forward Kasidhe shifted her focus. Her interests in poisons were still there but now she was more invested in learning how to craft webs that would enable her to protect herself as she had no desire to ever experience something like being kidnapped and bound again. No one would ever pull such off again if she had her way. Trial, error, and time resulted in her learning how to create small webs that would alert her to danger even as the spider silk deteriorated immediately afterward.

A courtier at Courtland handled her Virgin Night, someone she had been friendly with and trusted. With that taken care of she performed her Offering and came away with a Sapphire, holding tightly to it and seeing a future stretch out in front of her. The Hourglass Coven was fractured, as much as they did not want to admit it, because there were so many smaller Covens within Little Terreille and each vied for power and position.

The in-fighting was doing no one any good and only creating more problems, not solving them. With a goal in mind, one that saw her bringing the various Black Widows together under one banner, Kasidhe moved forward in gathering a following behind her. What she was not expecting was that the Court of Little Terreille, and the leader of the Hourglass, would all meet an ugly end. Not as quick as they did, at least, because it was deserved in her opinion with all the business of collaring that had happened.

In the aftermath of the death of the previous Coven Leader, Kasidhe saw opportunity and chance. The Black Widows of Little Terreille were without guidance, without foresight - after all, how had they all missed Lord Black? - and more importantly there was untold amounts of infighting. It was no simple matter to corral Black Widows together, most of them did not want to work together, and that was why things were so tenuous within the territory among the spiders of Little Terreille.

There were rumors of Black Widows attempting to kill other Black Widows (not that that was truly out of the norm) and worse activities. Perhaps it was not noble, perhaps it was simply because she wanted power and prestige for herself, but Kasidhe made a decision that she would not let this continue. Beside, who was she to ignore a potential business expansion for herself? With an entire territory's worth of Black Widows behind her there would be little she would not be capable of doing. From the business of selling webs to those who were smuggling to taking care of little problems with their poisons, there was so much coin that was just wasting away while they were bickering amongst themselves.

It was no easy matter to climb the rungs of the Coven, so to speak, and sway other Widows to her side. What did she have to offer them? What could she do that they could not? The answer was simple: she had the drive, the power, and the willingness to do what needed to be done. When she stepped forward, putting herself in the spotlight, she did not do it as Kasidhe Eliott. She did it as Kasidhe Sheane, a power unto herself and with no attachments, and she did not wait for them to acquiesce to her power play.

She took everything for herself, not giving time for them to come to her. When words were not enough, she relied upon compulsions and manipulation. When she could not do that, she replied upon subterfuge and plans that involved seeing those that opposed her done away with. If her personality did not sell the other Widows on supporting her, then her machinations did when she outmaneuvered and outmoved them.

Drive saw Kasidhe take control of the Hourglass and her drive saw the other Black Widows fall in line behind her. It was clear that either they would or they would fall under her. Whether or not that would mean death or otherwise was unknown but what was known was that it was best to ally with her than against her.

No one wanted to be that small Coven that had not rallied to her that disappeared into the night never to be seen again or that particularly vocal Black Widow that had suddenly found themselves without a voice but still a tongue. They all supported Kasidhe now, be it because of fear of what would happen if they did not or because they genuinely believed she had the vision and follow through to see the Hourglass survive.

With the Hourglass behind her, at her command, Kasidhe has not stopped with her ideas of further expansion. There are still other Black Widows that do not owe allegiance to the Hourglass and she wants to fix that. After all, there is a Service Fair for those that come into the Kaeleer from Terreille, why can there not be similar for those Black Widows that do more than just visit Little Terreille? If they are going to make a home within the territory then they need to show that the are willing to play by the rules she has set forth.

In the end it really is all about unification. To ensure that the Black Widows of Little Terreille do not let what has happened to other Black Widows happen to them, Kasidhe has just decided that to ensure this it has to be done by force and with her in charge of the Hourglass. The problem is that the other Black Widows may not see things her way but she has little care for what others think. Prepared to go to war if she must, Kasidhe will bring the others into the fold of the Hourglass or see them gone.

The downside to all of this, of course, is that since the fall of Morr, Kasidhe has had her head thoroughly up in the most intimate places of the Hourglass. She has to re-educate herself on the world that exists outside of it and, more importantly, educate the world on her new place in it.

Show Us What You've Got

Character in Play:
Easy was not a thing that Kasidhe expected in her life. Every time that she thought something was easy it had always gone wrong. There had yet, in her life, been something that did not follow this particular belief. When she had thought taking over the Hourglass in Little Terreille would have been easy, she learned quickly that she would have to deal with more than one opponent.

To say she had fought tooth and nail to ensure her place within the Coven would be a particularly apt way to put how she had taken over. Manipulation, compulsions, and blackmail had been the way of things and where that had not worked ... She was not above using one of her poison to sway things to her way but she was also careful about such things. It would do no good and everyone knew her business, just what she was capable of. Secrets would be kept or tongues would be removed and ...

Well, she did not want to take lives but if it was a necessity to protect what was hers, then it would be done.

Most of the time she let her Sapphire speak for her, the depth of her power saying without words that it was not a wise idea to challenge her. Yet that alone, Kasidhe had learned, would not be enough. Not with Black Widows like Kelda Voll on the scene in Little Terreile. While the Hourglass was the ruling force between the Black Widows that did not mean there were not more than just a few individual covens that made them up.

They were sometimes little more than gangs but then everyone was trying to distance themselves from such things. Beside, Kasidhe had a distaste for gangs herself after they had the audacity to try and kidnap her when she had been younger. She had not even had her Virgin Night and someone thought to make coin off of her father Claude.

All of this were distracting thoughts and she pushed them away from her mind.

Truth be told, Kasidhe had stormed Tarn Nathaniel (who named it that? it was delightful) with the intention to see the Queen and introduce herself as the new Head of the Hourglass. The actual expectation was that she would be passed off to someone of the Triangle. If it was someone not in the Triangle then she was going to have words.

So when she was redirected, it was not a surprise. She had slipped off her jacket, leaving it with one of the help, and was left only in her simple - yet still elegant - black dress. She liked the impression it made if only because it seemed to differ with each person.

Whatever she had been expecting went out the window the moment that she was lead into the Steward's Office - with an idle thought of it damn well better be the Steward I am seeing - and an old nickname greeted her. Jon was treated to the same expression she had made then as she did now, her nose wrinkling up and lips pressing together as if she could not tell whether or not she liked or hated the nickname.

Yet none of that matter as genuine surprise settled in. How the fuck had she missed Jonothan Harmaa being the Steward of Little Terreille? It was as if thinking of him earlier, of her attempted kidnapping, had been a sign. One, as a Black Widow, she probably should have taken note of but had let herself be distracted by other thoughts.

Thoughts that included the memory of Jon's crew coming to save her, discovering a far young Opal Jeweled Black Widow attempting to disembowel someone with a spoon because she was that mad they were kidnapping her. She would have managed it to but had been stopped, carted off and back to the safety of her family.

“Jon,” she finally spoke, surprise carefully tucked away and amusement heard instead, “why am I not surprised to see you here.” The door was closed behind her and she stepped into the room, a hand held out towards the Warlord. It could just as easily be a handshake as it could be a hug for someone that had once, basically, saved her life.

“... and, yes, I am Head of the Hourglass now.” Her lips curled into a smile, impish and delighted at the same time. “It’s also Kasidhe Sheane now too.” She had taken her mother’s name, wanting to simultaneously make a name for herself with it and to distance herself - and her operations - from the mostly legitimate one her father ran.

“Looks like today is a day for learning new and interesting things for us both.”
