    Distinguishing Features:

    Personality

    Personality:

Brielle is the product of her environment, born and bred to be the proper aristo daughter. To marry a suitable aristo male, to host aristo parties and dinners, to have and raise more aristo babies. Only a couple though - it would be crass to have too many children. Not only does Brielle enjoy being the spoiled and pampered daughter of the upper crust of society, she excels at it. She delights in how being an aristocrat allows her to revel in and take advantage of life's pleasures.

It may only make her look further vain and spoiled but she cannot deny how much she loves pretty clothes - the slide of luxurious fabric against her skin - and attending parties while wearing a stunning design created by an untapped talented fashion designer. Never is she more herself, in her element, than when she is flirting with those that would seek her favor - or to warm her bed, if they truly catch her eye - and dancing among those of her accepted circle. What had once only been told to her by her parents and peers - that she is better than most, that she deserves more than most, all because of her pedigree - has been reinforced time and time again when she gets her way and enjoys the fruits of her aristocratic upbringing.

Confident, bordering on arrogant, Brielle hides it behind poise and Protocol. It has made her opinionated, at least when it comes to matters of healing - because she has had the best education possible for a Healer and knows better than you - and will take charge of a situation when she feels that a situation isn't being handled correctly. It's unacceptable, under her watch, for anything of a healing matter to go untreated or not be taken care of. Assuming, of course, she can handle it with potions, brews, or other Healer made medicinals.

Brielle's Dark Jewels have enabled her to feel and feel far deeper than others might. This was compounded by her Caste and an innate sensitivity to the pain of others around her. By the time that she was able to articulate and control it, she had already gained a reputation as a fussy, sensitive child. Out of sheer necessity, Brielle learned to shield against the pain that she felt too keenly.  Having kept the shield up for so long she comes across as lacking the empathy many Healers have in spades. She protects herself by putting forward a cold front, a distant exterior that allows her to work with those she is healing. It is this composed, reserved front that keeps her safe and ensures that no one knows just how much she is truly affected.

Her shielding - holding a part of herself back - has lead to her lacking a Healer's driving need to heal the world as she would have to open herself up to feeling more than just one person's pain. Even one person is almost too much as her own comfort is often held higher than everyone else. Due to this - and in spite of her exemplary Caste training - she much prefers to treat people without having to actually let go of what keeps her safe from feeling too much.

While being spoiled and inherently selfish, Brielle understands responsibility. She takes her duties, to both family and Court, seriously and fulfills them to the best of her ability with deft promptness. Procrastination is unheard of in the Healer, moving about and handling her work with a speed that speaks to the depth of her Jewels. What she will do is take the necessary time to deliberate on important decisions as making the time to take things under consideration is the opposite of procrastination in her opinion. Making mistakes wastes time and resources, after all, and that wastes her time. Which is just plain rude. If anyone wants to see Brielle lose her temper, waste her time or her resources, as then you have squandered what is essentially a gift of her time.

Time is valuable, there's only so much of it, and she wants to be able to enjoy every minute of it. It isn't like they're paying her back by wasting it, though she might fantasize a little about getting payback. Only a little because she has so many better things to do than get her hands that dirty.

    Likes:
    • 1. Stability. Brielle is a young woman who’s been sheltered in a bubble of wealth her entire life. She enjoys the life she currently has and intends to keep it the same way. She takes an active role in maintaining and investing her own wealth and relishes the process.
    • 2. Music. The world had been rather dull before her discovery of music as more than just background noise. To Brielle it’s a world she can escape into. A private, personal realm that speaks to the emotions she holds close and a way to express herself without sharing. She rarely discusses her obsession or skills with anyone, finding it too intimate.
    • 3. Clothes. Brielle doesn’t deny that she’s been spoiled. She’s had access to the newest trends, finest fabrics, and Hearthwitches to tailor clothes specifically for her. It’s a way of life one becomes easily accustomed. Beyond enjoying the feeling of fine silks, satins, and the softest of cottons against her skin, Brielle realizes that the proper clothes can act as a shield and determine the way that others perceive her.

    Dislikes:
    • 1. Non Aristo. Another check in the eternal debate of nature vs. nurture. Brielle was raised to believe that certain bloodlines are simply better than others. That the non Aristo aren’t as cultured or as worthy. She was also raised to believe that she has the responsibility of acting with generosity towards the less fortunate and guide them upon the proper path, though sometimes she finds it difficult to do so.
    • 2. Crowds. Even with her mastery over her shields to keep the physical pains of others from reaching her, Brielle has trouble dealing with large crowds. She can feel the threat of pain pressing against her shields and it exhausts her.
    • 3. Messes. For Brielle, messes are akin to chaos and chaos unnerves the young Healer. In her private, personal spaces everything has a place and everything is kept in its space. Stained fabrics are immediately cleaned by a Hearthwitch or discarded. Blood and other bodily fluids she comes in contact with as a Healer are tolerated for the duration of her Craftwork and then scoured away. Unless she’s exposed to them for extended periods, the clutter belonging to other people don’t bother her in the same way.

    Fears:
    • 1. Marchesa’s Politics.   Not that Brielle truly cares about what happens to the immigrants invading her home territory, she doesn’t. Brielle’s just afraid that Lady Talbot’s politics and actions are going to cost the Queen her position. And if that happens her own position and standing could crumble to nothing.
    • 2. Cats. So it’s more than a little embarrassing to Brielle, but she finds cats distressingly terrifying. She has never had a bad experience with them, she wasn’t bitten by one or scratched by one. She just finds them so unsettling. They pretend to be all lazy, but she knows they’re always aware and always ready to attack.
    • 3. Lord Black. Monster or Vigilante? Brielle can’t quite figure out where the man stands. He immolated Logain Morr’s manor and the people inside. But he also murdered all the Hell Lords. Either way the man has a terrifying amount of power to command and isn’t afraid to use it.

    Craft Strengths:
    • 1. Diagnostic Craft. Brielle has a scarily accurate ability to sense the natural state of an individual's body and figure out where things are wrong or were wrong recently. She can sense tears in skin, ligaments, muscles, and organs. She can ‘see’ where bones have breaks, chips, or fractures. She can sense when foreign objects or substances are interrupting the natural workings of the body.
    • 2. Shields. Since Brielle shields herself pretty much every minute of every day she’s gotten real good at it. She has complete control over the size, shape, and strength of her shields and is able manipulate them with absolute efficiency.

    Craft Weaknesses:
    • 1. Fine Telekinesis. Brielle isn’t sure whether she’s just not grasping how to do it, or if it’s just some innate peculiarity, but she’s utterly unable to move objects with her mind. There’s apparently some sort of trick with attaching psychic strings or threads, but it’s all just gibberish to Brielle. She has found that she can slam doors or thump tables or chairs in temper, though she has absolutely no control over it.
    • 2. Reading Emotions. Brielle struggles with feeling the physical pain of people within her vicinity. Attempting to psychically Read Emotions causes her “sympathy pains” to heighten exponentially and overwhelm her. Reading Emotions isn’t just a physical punishment for Brielle, it causes psychic backlash that reverberates through her mind.

    Life Story

    Family:
Mother: Kylie Demorie;; 46 (Born 148 AP);; Yellow - Tiger Eye witch
Father: Keith Westgate;; 50 (Born 144 AP);; Tiger Eye - Purple Dusk Prince
Grandmother: Jocelyn Demorie;; 72 (Born 122 AP);; Opal - Green Healer

    History:

No one could argue against Brielle’s aristocratic pedigree. Not when her father was the heir to a shipping dynasty based out of Portcity and her mother comes from a long line of first circle courtiers for Courtland. In fact, her grandmother had been named Court Healer of the Province before she was even born. She was loved, doted upon, and spoiled, by both sides of her family.

If she was fussy and prone to crying at family gatherings it was credited to her being a sensitive child. She was a Healer after all, and they tended to have soft hearts. She was tutored by the best teachers money could buy for general studies and basic Craft. She was drilled incessantly in decorum and Protocol. She came away from her Birthright Ceremony with a cut Green Jewel and an exponentially magnified sensitivity to the pain of the people within a close radius.

Thankfully her grandmother had come out for the ceremony and recognized what the problem was if not the reason why. Also carrying the Green, her grandmother Shielded her and then arranged for additional lessons so that Brielle could learn to Shield herself.

With the ability to form her own Shields and protect herself, the number and types of lessons increased. Caste training, music lessons, deportment and etiquette. Social outings were designed to begin networking amongst her peers. It was accepted by both sides of her family that she would be following her maternal Grandmother’s footsteps as she was a fellow Healer and already held the Green. Though she did spend time with her father’s family in Portcity and learned some of what it took to run a large shipping company.

Her Virgin Night was absolutely unremarkable. As was her Offering to the Darkness, except for the fact that she emerged from it with vibrant uncut Red Jewel. It was the darkest Jewel her family had in several generations. She took a position in the Second Circle of the Northwood District Court as finished her training as a Healer. Once her training was complete, her grandmother informed Brielle that she was retiring and Brielle would be taking her place.

Nepotism has led Brielle to being Court Healer and she knows that there will be blowback. She will handle it like she's handled everything else in her life: by smiling sweetly and then cutting the person down with every tool in her arsenal to remind them that they're not worthy of her (or her time). Her pedigree and training make her the best choice and they'll know it sooner or later.

There are all sorts of rumors about Lady Marchesa Talbot, many not liking her policies or practices. Brielle tries to not let that get to her and plans - once she's fully integrated as the new Court Healer - to try and combat it with her own growing clout as a Red-Jeweled aristo Healer. After all: if she wishes to stand out on her own then she needs to start to make a name for herself beyond her family - beyond her grandmother - and what better way than to make her voice one that is louder than many others?

It is the best way to drown out her own fears because this is her first taste of true power and position and Brielle does not want to think about what would happen if it was lost.

The carriage rolled to a stop. As Brielle waited for the footman to open the door she pulled out her compact to check her make-up and hair. The door opened and a hand appeared to help her out and she took her time to snap her compact shut and put it away in its proper place. She took the waiting hand and allowed the footman to help her descend from the carriage.

“Thank you,” she said. The words devoid of their actual meaning - they were simply the proper response for the situation. She handed over enough marks to cover the fare and a modest tip for footman and driver as she sent a pulse of Craft through her clothing to release any wrinkles from the skirt of her dress.

She pushed open the gate and let herself into the well manicured courtyard. She climbed the stoop with measured impatience and knocked on the door. Brielle was pleased with the prompt response from her grandmother’s majordomo. “Good afternoon, Prince Vartan. Grandmother is expecting me, is she in the solarium?”

“Indeed, Miss Brielle. She’s waiting for you. I’ll send Jenny along with the refreshment cart,” he responded as he held the door open and closed it behind her.

Brielle smiled, and thanked him with more warmth than she had for the hired footman. The path to the solarium was familiar to the Healer and she traversed the hallways quickly. Upon entering the room, Brielle took a moment to breathe in the scent of roses and herbs, before walking to her seated grandmother. “Good afternoon, Grandmother.” Brielle leaned down and kissed both of her cheeks before taking a seat at the table set for two.

After a long pause, where she was studied with eyes beginning to dim with age, her grandmother spoke. “My contract is up at the end of the month. I won’t be renewing.”

The statement surprised Brielle, and made her grateful that Jenny interrupted with the tea service. She stood and accepted the cart. “Thank you Jenny, I serve.” She checked the teapot to confirm that the tea was already brewing. The walk from the kitchen to this room was usually all the time necessary for the tea to steep. She served her grandmother first, as was proper, before filling her own teacup.

She lifted her saucer and took a careful sip of her tea before replacing the china on the table. “I know you’ve held your position for a long time, but you love being the Court Healer for Courtland.”

Her grandmother took her time adding a touch of milk and a sugar cube to her tea. She lifted her saucer, but didn’t touch the cup. “I have, but it’s time. Time for me to retire, and time for you to take the next step.” Her grandmother took a sip of her tea before continuing. “I have managed to convince Lady Talbot into offering you a contract. Just one year to start, as a probationary period. I expect that you’ll succeed in obtaining a renewal offer by the end of the year despite your lack of experience at this level of Court.”
