Appearance

Play By: Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Distinguishing Features: Perfectly Hayllian black hair well styled falls back from a striking visage. Though somewhat paler skinned, the hints of Algernon's mixed blooded heritage hardly stand out in a territory like Little Terreille. The golden cast to Prince Breckenridge's skin is simply another asset in his mind, a gift from his father. Tall and lithe, the male stands to precisely one inch beyond six foot. Always impeccably attired in a place possessing all manner of walks of life causes him to appear a remarkable Prince in the cesspool of Landen and Blood that is Little Terreille, though no more than the average male seeking to make his mark on society of a particular calibre. Well pressed trousers are always black, as is the remainder of any suiting beyond vest and shirt. An aged pair of cuff links well kept are a memento from a Glacian mother, while his raspy, yet melodic tenor voice is not unpleasant so much as very precise. A heavy lidded, thoughtful gaze takes note of all those around him, while Algernon's gaze is an intriguing blue with hints of gold. Full lips capable of a ready, and perhaps ferocious smile are noted.

Personality

Personality: Efficient. Congenial. Beautifully, punctiliously furious when required. Algernon, as a Prince, keeps his darker passions tightly leashed in favour of the appearance of a gentleman in full, even in his dealings with the crawling filth of Goth's underworld. A consummate trader, he enjoys his contracts and employing a variety of men, and the occasional woman to oversee his grand design: making as much money as possible.

Typically he is considered a man of opportunity, though a loyal one when it suits him. Skilled in combat with a sword arm well honed due previous service without bonding for a Little Terreillian Queen, from his Glacian Jewelless Blood mother he learned the importance of the nearby Star of Kaeleer, notable in his preference of dealings with the number of Glacian refugees he has assisted in resettlement. A secretly paternalistic man, he both views women as needing to be served but only in the interests of the men seeking to keep them safe.

While the Light Jewelled to him, are not dangerous as his mother continually attempted to insist over his youth despite her departure from Glacia, he certainly believes they are lesser blessed to no fault of their own. Patience, to Algernon, is often its own reward, taking great care in sensually pleasing a woman only to have her beg for further attention, to playing the markets of Little Terreille like a Cradleboard and viola may lend particularly clever advantage. Indeed, dark jeweled though the Prince is, Algernon permits Caste nor Jewels to rule his personality foolishly as some may, taking gravitas in focus toward entirely new levels.

Likes:
  • 1 Fencing: Prince Algernon, though it is rare to hear him addressed so formally, loves a weapon as much as he enjoys fucking a high priced whore, regardless of gender. With a collection reasonably expensive for a man of his age and middling influence, he has both been known to partake of practise bouts as well as true duels by sword - and has never lost one.
  • 2 Clever Political Grasping: Political deals especially that benefit himself are beloved, though the gentleman enjoys observation of matters that do not involve personal gain. Particularly clever takeovers - not too different from the shock that literally blew up the territory court - deeply amuse the Prince. While the loss of life is something to consider, he feels that anyone in a position of power should be prepared for a bigger predator to devour them.
  • 3 Nervous Women: Ah, Darkness. These in particular are terribly fun toys, so long as one does not seek to damage, but rather uplift for ones own delight. Pulling forth blushes for the sake of reddened cheeks are a pastime that is nearly sacred. Wallflowers especially, those that hide behind their own shadows, are a curious existence to Algernon for as rare as they are.

    Dislikes:
  • 1 Pointless Roughness: There is a particular purpose for roughness and violence, and being overly so simply to be a slavering beast does not interest Algernon, not to mention the expense for clothing it often causes. If one is needing to display teeth, so to speak, the point ought to be very viciously specific.
  • 2 Sloppiness: Wrinkles. Dirt. Uncleanliness in general. It makes living in Goth somewhat difficult for a man as fastidious as Algernon is. The surest method to see the man annoyed is a smear upon a white shirt that otherwise ought to be most precise. It is a result from a brief stay in a debtor's prison when his usual good luck was very much against him. Though he worked off his debt in full after a year, the foulness still haunts.
  • 3 Drug Abuse: In the same turn the abuse of drugs is sickening. To Breck, the point of drugs in Goth is useful for a minor destabilization and play for both the masses and the golden throng of the very rich. Those that abuse honestly do not deserve to breathe the same air as he does, and he is very quick to rid himself of retainers or employees that fall prey to any such habits.

    Fears:
  • 1 Gangs of Goth: Ah, the gangs. They are akin to a foul wolf in the night, seeking to ruin the cosmopolitan beauty that is Little Terreille. Having been once mugged as a very young man before his Offering, Algernon has both a deep-seated dislike and a near irrational hatred for the members of gangs especially that do not toe the fucking line. While understanding that such elements need to exist to keep worse possibilities from taking hold, he despises what they represent. While perhaps irrational, the potential takeover by the gangs is enough to cause the occasional panic attack endured in stoic silence.
  • 2 Supremacy: While he is indeed half Glacian, the corrupted ideals of the Glacian religion can stay right where they are. While he has an appreciation for his maternal heritage and is thankful for his mother, Lady Lilja's sacrifices to ensure her only son had everything she could possibly give him, the collaring or Light Jeweled people stands against the very thing Little Terrielle represents. The idea that sort of bullshit could spread over all Kaeleer is too much, and he often hopes that the Glacians might be put back in whatever fucked up icebox they came from. It has him torn and causes the man to fear for his mother's life as one that is entirely Jewelless. They claim the Jewelless are safe and cared for, like children, but he has never viewed his mother that way, despite her misguided self-flagellation.
  • 3 Force of Loyalty: Being born of both worlds, half long lived through a father he has never met and a mother that has only told him his fathers name and nothing more, Breck has always held firmly in his mothers favour, as she was the one that raised him. Never did the man that sired him and stuck his cock briefly in his mother send a gift, or any such thing to ease their lives. He never bothered to show up for Breck's Birthright ceremony, though it was claimed that the elder Hayllian was aware. His deepest fear is that his father's potential side of the story could well demand a shift in loyalty. It keeps him up late nights, brooding over the possibility over what that would even mean.

    Craft Strengths:
  • 1 Contracts: Writing a Contract is Prince Algernon's single greatest skill. Not only do the words needed come to him with an incredible ease, being aware of his potential opponent has often produced spectacular results. Part survivor of difficult straights and part Craft that calms his presence of mind until naught remains save the elegance of the binds in such a moment, Breck also enjoys writing business contracts, and it shows in his work.
  • 2 Exploiting Weakness: While gifted in understanding an opponent, it is physical and mental weaknesses that Breck is most able to refine and use to his own benefit. These are both in turn useful for writing contracts, but while in addition obtaining secrets from those that do not wish to part with them.

    Craft Weaknesses:
  • 1 Scrying: Though an exceedingly useful skill for a man in his line of work, it is considerably difficult for Breck to scry for anything darker than the level of a Green Jewel, and even that can often cause him headaches that last for days for the attempt.
  • 2 Sensing Spells: Sensing spells becomes further difficult the darker the jewel and rather than being able to isolate the specific spell he is looking for, Breck has an unfortunate tendency to overload and sense every spell ever cast in a particular locale instead of just one. The last time he made the attempt he blacked out.

    Life Story

    Family:
Mother: Lilja Nurmi-Breckenridge; Jewelless Blood Female. 54 | 137 AP
Stepfather: George Breckenridge; Warlord. 64 | 127 AP Purple Dusk - Blood Opal
Father: Fabius Horatius*; Prince. 1,437 | 1276 AP Blood Opal - Green Unclaimed.
    Siblings: None known.
    *False name/personae.

    History:
Algernon Breckenridge, so named due the marriage of his mother to his stepfather, George Breckenridge, following Algernon's Offering through convenience, and certainly love for both the Lady Lilja and the man himself, is in every possible way a Little Terreillian. He could not imagine living anywhere else, even given the opportunity. It matters not that his mother is Glacian by blood, and that his unclaimed father is a Hayllian opportunist. Having dwelled nearly in all levels of society within Goth, he understands the pulse of the city most keenly. Breck has been the starving child, and lived at the level of working poor due to both his parents bad luck in finances. Through the scraping of his mother and stepfather's savings and having gained a pristine education in part through an as yet unknown financier (his birth father), the Prince knows very, very well what it means to have not, and to be forced to claw ones' self up through very little means.

Thus, he holds a considerable pride in his home. This one, not the one his mother still waxes poetically about to this day, covered in fucking glaciers. Every perfectly stitched shirt imbued with Craft he has paid for in honestly earned coin mostly, choosing only to dip beneath the illegal presence in the city for minor additions when there lies the need, or to make certain his various businesses are safe from too many greedy hands. Prince Algernon, typically called Breck, has been a working man and as well the learned gentleman, and those that gain from him never have a harsh word, for even in his illegal business, he moves through life with a code: the two never connect if at all possible.

While his mother, Lilja Nurmi, was born and raised in Glacia and left not long after gaining her majority through a dark jeweled sponsor and never returned to her home as a result of the opportunities afforded her in Little Terreille, Breck was the result of a fiery affair between the Jewelless Courtesan and a Hayllian dignitary, Prince and former Senator Fabius Horatius, that had long made his life in this corner of the world. Though he has never even seen his birthfather, his mother claims that her son looks very much like him. Perhaps as a result of having a stepfather in the Dharoan George Breckenridge that worked his ass off to care for a child not of his blood, Breck never bothered to seek out the lofty Hayllian that seduced his mother and left her to care for his offspring - through his own myopic view.

A lover of many, both men as well as women when it suits his whims, his delight at receiving an Opal Jewel for a Birthright and his mother's eternal pride in that fact still to this day wraps through his senses, not to speak of the later Sapphire descent. It gave him the beginnings of capability to tend his parents rather than the constant presence of the other way around. These days, his mother and stepfather live in a pleasant house in one of the nicest parts of the city, while the lease on their restaurant is paid for in perpetuity by himself. A minor way to pay back everything given to him, he believed, despite the occasional loss and difficulty. Unlike some, his trials as a very young man and near fatal miss with the gangs and a years' stay in a debtors' prison turned around his steps toward the sensible rather than a continued stupidity of youth.

In considerable degree, it has been his work on the legal side of matters in Little Terreille for Jonathan Harmaa that practically assured his rise into considerable wealth before the man's now permanent seeming presence near the only Dark Gate. Paired with Breck's gift for contracts and the ability to collect what is owed one way or another, trust aside, and Harmaa's network of contacts, he was slowly able to prove himself reliable, punctual, and above all, dependable concerning the dual matters of profit and protective muscle when needed. Can't have goods getting stolen. That just wouldn't do.

This initial gaining of a major contributor to Prince Algernon's originally minor interests started his spread of companies and wealthy through Goth, and then surrounding parts of the Territory. Now, he has many, many names that both owe and have used his both raw product and return for more luxury goods simply because it is known that the Prince not only can provide whatever is wished, but will. Sometimes when the legality is questionable, he has the skill and presence to fudge matters so that it is legal, or at least appears enough so that no Queens ask questions. After all, they gain as well with still tongues and fingers counting the gold.

The recent total destruction of the Little Terreillian court has both given the entrepreneur and security servitor cause to consider his own potential standing, and what he might gain from the sudden change and upheaval. The potential that someone from his past being at least partially directly responsible for the power shift, has not even entered his mind. Regardless, Prince Algernon has always been a fan of more influence, more money, and of course, more women. If there is potential then for gaining a court position or remaining on the good side of the new court just as he was useful for the last, then that is perfectly fine by him.

    Character in Play:

Breck was pleasantly drunk, and the bar looked all the better for it. A pretty blonde bitch sat on his knee, and he was perfectly fine to have her there while sipping from a glass of brandy, served neat. He grinned while she whispered in his ear all the lascivious things she'd do to his cock if he paid her well enough. He was not drunk enough however, to disregard the fact that she was overcharging by half. There would never come a day in passing that Prince Algernon could disregard such a thing. She was pretty indeed, yet not that beautiful. With a pleasant smile barely granted, he moved the woman off of his knee.

"A kind offer, but no." He leaned forth to kiss the woman's lips to blunt the refusal while placing a few gold coins in her brassiere with a bit of a pinch of her nipple. "I think it seems that is all I can afford, madam." Merriment of course lay in heavy lidded eyes that were more Hayllian than Glacian, while his faintly golden skin often drew enough gazes. Breck could thank his father for that, being apparently good looking enough to pass on some of it to his unwanted son. A grin turned up the full lips.

"I could be very good for you tonight, my Prince," she murmured softly, in entreaty, yet the sapphire jewelled male held his ground. A light smile curled his lips once one in exchange for the grin.

    "Certainly, you could--"

A sudden, while distant explosion turned Algernon's attention outside the bar instead of inside. Conversation immediately halted inside the entire bar, with patrons swiftly flitting outside, Breck being among them. Not sure what the hell to expect, it wasn't at all the plume of smoke from what looked like the estate the court used -- or, where it appeared to have been just hours before.

    "Well, fuck me."

While numerous terrified and uncertain eyes couldn't even recognize the concentration of dark power, it was a whisper barely over his consciousness that rippled along Algernon's spine like nothing he'd ever felt in his life. He could tell if he'd ever felt the true source of it rather than a distant ripple he'd probably have pissed himself.

    What the fuck was that?

"Time to go home." That was what the explosion told him. Everything else could wait; especially his dick.
