Caste, Jewel, and Re-activation Petitions

The Templates for All the Petitions of Blood Rites, Along with an Explanation for Each.

Petitions are the way to get what you need if it’s really important here at Blood Rites. The following things can all be petitioned: Birthright Jewel, Caste, and Inactive Character Re-Activation. Petitions are to be used for characters that will be integral to the over all plot of Blood Rites – examples of such characters are major political players/schemers, potential ruling characters, villains, etc.

Though it requires far more effort than a conventional application, or even a Jewel OR a Caste petition, you may, on the same character Petition for both Caste AND Jewel.

Please bear in mind that you cannot Petition your first character at Blood Rites; you must have an accepted character before you can begin the Petition process.

When using a petition, or multiple petitions please place them at the bottom of your character’s application, after your history and your offering post.

Birthright Jewel Petitions
Please remember that one never need petition for the following Jewels – White, Yellow, or Tiger Eye, they can be SELECTED at character creation at any time. The following form should be used when you want a specific jewel rank from Rose to Red. New players may not petition for a Birthright Jewel and must have a minimum of one accepted character with 5 in character posts before they can petition a Birthright.

It is important to note, that the darker the jewel, the harder it will be to have your petition accepted, and the harder you will have to work on your application. Jewel requests of Rose-Opal require only ONE stamp of approval, whereas Petitions for Birthright jewels of Green, Sapphire or Red require Staff Majority approval.

You may only petition for the RED jewel once every 5 characters, and not until you have at least four characters with ten in character posts a piece to their names. Once you are denied the Red birthright twice, you lose the ability to petition for this particular jewel for no less than three months.

Jewel Rank Requesting: Jewel Rank (Rose, Summer Sky, Purple Dusk, Opal, Green, Sapphire or Red - The Jewels White, Yellow and Tiger eye are granted upon a simple request!)
Reasons For Requesting this Birthright: Please bear in mind that ‘dark jeweled family’ is NOT an acceptable response, and petitions using this as their sole answer will more than likely be rejected.

Plans for this Character: How does your character having this jewel affect the plot he/she is intended for, and why could they and the plot not be the same without it.

Other Petitions you’ve made here: This only needs to pertain to Character Caste or Jewel Petitions.

Caste Petitions

All Multi-Caste characters require a petition to be applied at their end of their application, either at character creation, or later, when the character's app is re-submitted after learning a caste in-character. In order to be eligible to petition for a second or third caste for a character, the petitioning player must have at least four active characters with a minimum of ten in-character posts on record for each of them. Petitioners must also have been an active member of the Blood Rites community for no less than two months. Because of the desired rarity and weight of these characters, these applications require two approvals from Review instead of the normal one.

Writers will use one of two petition forms, depending on whether the caste is being requested at character creation, or after character creation.

New Multi-Caste Character:
Select this petition form if your character has not yet been approved, and you are building a second or third caste into the initial application for the character. This form has only two fields:

Caste Requesting: Wherein you list the desired caste (ie: Black Widow Queen).
Plot point(s) requiring this caste: Wherein you explain what plot points REQUIRE this character to have all of the specific castes listed. You wanting to try your hand at writing a Priestess Queen isn't sufficient justification. We want plots generated off of these special characters. They don't have to be huge, Territory-spanning plots, but they must be plots that will not work if the character does not possess the requested castes. For example, your Black Widow Priestess being the one to save a friend from a terrible trap web that has corrupted her mind isn't sufficient. There are Black Widows aplenty in most Territories; there's no reason why your particular Priestess needs to be the one to save her. On the other hand, if your plan is for your Pruulian to have acquired an upjump in social standing (as secondary castes are highly respected there) by training into a second caste, that's a valid need for your character to have their second caste.

Adding a caste to an existing character:
Writers will use this form when an existing character undergoes the training in-character to acquire a caste in addition to what they had at character creation. This requires the writer to purchase the Caste Training item from the yearly Thanksgiving Shop. After purchase of the shop item, the writer may begin to explore the character's training and the manifestation of the caste's initial influence (more info on this here) on the character through in-character posts. When a year has passed in-character, the writer may submit the character's application in a new thread in the Keep's Registry, and include the following petition form at its end. The fields required are:

Caste Requesting: Wherein you'll list the desired castes the character will have.
Link to Caste Training shop purchase: Make sure you link your actual purchase post, not just the transaction thread.
Links to threads showing training/caste manifestation: Include a minimum of five links to different threads showing the character's training and/or the beginnings of their caste manifestation.
Changes made to the sheet for this application: At minimum, the writer should add a few sentences to the Personality section of the character's app explaining how the new caste has influenced who the character is. Edits to Likes, Dislikes, Fears, and even Craft Strengths and Weaknesses are also acceptable, but not required. Any changes made should be quoted here in full.

Retired/Inactive Character Re-activation

This petition should be used on any characters who have been willingly retired or have been deactivated due to inactivity.

Why did this character became inactive? Identify the circumstances or reasons as to why the character was inactive or retired.

What will you do to prevent this character from becoming inactive again? Impress upon the Staff how you will maintain activity for this character.

What are your plans for this character? Identify the plot plans are in place to sustain the character's activity going forward.

Number of previous Reactivations: The number of times the character has been reactivated. If none put 0.

Changes Made to Application for Reactivation Process (if any) : Identify any changes, if any that have been made to the application during the reactivation process. Sometimes if a character has been inactive for a long time, minor details need to be adjusted for a player to get the most out of writing and plotting with that character.  These changes may not conflict with our established AU canon.

HBC and Review Council will not be policing applications, but if a deviation from canon is brought to our attention there will be an undefined points fine.

Lost Character Sheets Application/Petition

Lost Character Sheets

As we have unfortunately discovered not everything was cached by Google or was able to be recovered after the end of IPBfree. We know that our application process is long and forces writers to dig deep and as such we could never ask for them to do it a 2nd time on those lost characters. It simply isn't fair and we understand (we lost them too). We've devised a way for writers to continue working with those precious characters without sacrificing their sanity to re-write the applications.

Please submit the petition below as your new character sheet for these lost characters only. We do have a recovery database of many files that we were able to get back. Make sure your character is not in this database. Click here for the Recovery Database.

When it comes to the Bullet Point History all you need to do is provide a short list of the major events in the characters life. We are no asking you to re-invent the wheel, absolutely not, but simply call out those big moments (don't even need full sentences, but please use proper punctuation and grammar ;) ) that helped shape the character.

See []Isaar Mikette[/url] for an example of a Lost Character Sheet Application.
