* Plot Information for Dhemlan, Kaeleer

Dhemlan has become a land divided. The corruption that Witch’s Purge wiped out in the rest of the Realms was preserved by the well-meaning sacrifice of the territory’s Ebon Gray Queen. As such, the corruption here has only intensified. The tension between the Landen and the Blood who were meant to care for them is fast reaching a boiling point.

Know Virtue, Know Vice
« on: Jan 01, 18, 08:35:42 PM »
Summer, 192 AP

Salvador Coyote was home again, and had been for the balance of the year.  He was keeping his tours short, for a lot of good reasons, and staying out of his Mother’s way.  His Darkness and a lack of a Queen was a real concern to her, and she kept pointing him at the faith, where he could be of some ‘real use’.  He had no interest in promoting his Mother’s career; he had already done quite enough for the Family by simply being born, and then again with his Birthright and his Descent.  He did not also need to put his Mother in the good graces of the Caethedra.  Salvador loved his Mother and his Father, and indeed, was happy that he had helped to raise their social status, but he was not going to put in additional effort.

His Naval service was more than enough, and afforded him the opportunity to attend the University.  His pay, which he still received, unnecessary as it was, had to be spent somewhere and why not on a dilettante’s education.  Especially when that dilettante was him, and he got to see Lady Corazon along with several others.  Salvador was free from classes for a few days, it was true that he could likely come and go as he pleased, but he liked to keep to a schedule given the option, a holdover from military service where he had to be on task and on time.  Tardiness, otherwise, was fine, but not for the Navy and not for Class.  Besides, the better he used the clock, the more time he had for other extracurricular activities.

Salvador stretched under the sunlight that bathed his form as it streamed in through the open doors that led to the balcony of his rooms on the Coyote Estate.  He had returned home without alerting his parents to visit with the ladies that went neglected while he was eat sea.  They had enjoyed an evening of wine and dancing, together with some sailors and old friends from the University that he had invited along.  Somewhere before the stroke of midnight, he and his companions had made their inebriated way to his rooms, and into his palatial bed.  A woman groaned beside him when he moved, and he smiled, gently liberating himself from the lithe and shapely arm thrown across his tattooed chest.  Both women had been very interested in his tattoos, and he had been a true gentleman, showing them each and every one, often very closely.

He had no idea of the time, and he rose from his bed smoothly, to walk out upon his balcony still completely nude.  Salvador shaded his eyes, and tried to gauge the hour by the position of the sun.  Late morning, he thought.  A whistle sounded from below, and he saw one of the estate laundresses grinning up at him.  Salvador waved at her, utterly unabashed by his nakedness.  It would not be the first time household retainers saw him nude, and it would not be the last.  He closed his eyes and basked in the sunlight, and could sense that the laundresses were taking the time to admire him, he decided he would let them get an eye full.  Salvador almost missed the approach of one of his Lady companions, and he felt the tips of her fingers trace the lines down on his skin, to encircle him in her arms as she laid her head against his back.  ”Don’t forget, Sweet Prince.  We are having a gala for the end of my brother’s first tour of duty, and you promised you would attend.  It will be terribly boring otherwise.”

Salvador tried to remember that promise.  It took a lot to get him drunk, so he would excuse his loose oaths by claiming the throes of passion.  A party was, however, a party.  ”Where again?”  He honestly could not remember.  He was grasping for her name, Camilla he thought, her Family?  Caballo, Caballero?  Cavalho?  Something like that.  ”Of course, I will come.”  He turned around, giving the laundresses a view of his toned backside.  Salvador kissed the woman, ”Otherwise, I would not get to enjoy your company again.  Once more, where did you say?”

She pouted prettily, and told him.  Logrona.  Pamplona to be more precise.  After that, he forgot to get specifics, because she was being terribly distracting.  By the time he was on his feet again, it was nearly time for tea.  He washed and dressed and suffered through a tea sitting with the Family, and though everyone was surprised to see him, that did not prevent them from taking advantage.  He had to rebuff second cousins looking for a stallion to put out to stud on their daughters, and a Priestess that his Mother had hurriedly invited to their home as a lure for him.  Salvador left her breathless in one of the house’s many drawing rooms, stepped outside, and flickered out of sight, taking to the Winds.  Pamplona had hotels, inns, a night life, he was certain, and better the strange terrain of another City’s carousing than the annoying terrain of home.  Better he find a meal and good time there, then suffering through the charms offered by women who could barely claim the title.

At least he knew there was going to be a party.  Tomorrow?  The next day?  He would figure it out.

Salvador had no need for a Landing Pad, and so long as there were Winds, he could travel where he liked.  So, he did.  It did not take him long to reach Pamplona, and he wondered briefly if they had bullfighting there.  That was always good for meeting comely ladies, as they often required a broad chest to hide their faces from the violence that still excited them.  He grinned at the prospect, and decided to visit downtown for a little bit of shopping.  If he was going to a bullfight, he would need a new suit, the same was true of this event he had been invited to for—two days hence?  Cavalho?  He shrugged slightly, grinned at a woman he walked by on the pedestrian street, and began to look at the shops, surely someone was selling something worth buying.  A haberdashery that was what he needed, new clothes always felt good.

The pain of love is a migraine pain, I've learned it too well, from when we were flirting ...

La Camisería was one of the best small Landen shops to find good silk ties, hats, shirts, and even, they could fit a gentleman for a full suit if scheduled in advance, or, the buyer was willing to pay an extra fee for the rushed work. It was close on to the Plaza de Toros, one of the very lucrative shops found along that street. 'Strella had spared no expense over the last two hundred years working with her few allies with among Landen Council that weren't directly part of the corrupt side that she owed an open favour to ensure that eighty percent of the funds that came in and out of the Plaza stayed in Landen hands. It was part of the reason she was meeting with and choosing to add a Landen member to her Court; things were changing in Dhemlan, and the Lady Gualtierrez wanted to be among those that would meet and benefit from the change, rather than mowed under the wheels like so much grist in the mill. There was a special delight for Estrellien whenever Prince Raziel was expected to soon return to her, and despite their issues, she always made sure he had a new suit that was made by hand, a new selection of ties and hats in addition.

While absolutely her First Escort and only bonded for the last four hundred years could have selected his own attire, this was one of those matters that Estrellien let herself feel, and deeply so. Having attired herself in one of her most beautiful but sober gowns also stitched with no Craft Essence within it out of respect, she brushed white gloved hands down the pretty translucent skirt she wore over a much shorter white cream and silver selection. It bared her midriff, which was simply one of those fun options that plenty of Queens wouldn't have considered proper for a shopping day out, but the best thing about Estrellien was that she had long honed herself to care much less what others thought about what she did, within reason. Elsewise, as a Priestess too, she'd find herself feeling more worrisome about the smallest matters, leaving an anxious and uncertain woman in trade for who she was in truth.

Lady Estrellien's Day Attire
Trying to be good was achingly difficult, but had produced a shocking amount of benefit she never would have expected, doing things the way Prince Raziel insisted, even when he was away. The thrum of guilt even persisted along the feeling of their bond, until she had satisfied some unknown amount of just activity. Though she'd never tell him (even if she ought to have) the Red Jewelled male had served as her guiding compass in more ways than she could name. So the sense of someone else that pulled to her in the same way, but for different reasons after four hundred years of nothing, well, Estrellien would have been the first to laugh and state firmly that she did not deserve another Bonded male. That it would be unlikely to gain such a sweetness.

As a proprietor, the gentleman that ran this shop was typically delighted when she chose to show her face, and as he equally sold to the males at her Court, was used to the group of them making a planned appearance. It was even important to Estrellien these days that business continue as usual for the man, despite the slowness of it when a Queen came to make purchases. She brought her own advisor with her, and used a fortune to buy out the posh backroom to have styles modeled for the entire afternoon. Did she love her Bonded? The answer was an unequivocal yes. But it would have been a treasure and a true blessing from mother night to have a male unconnected to her past, to teach the Lady Gualtierrez how to say those words, and how more to enjoy who and what she was, without being constantly afraid without reason.

Seated on the chaise lounger, her pulse raced as she studied the male modeling the teal suit. "I think we want to try the red and the burned orange on the third gentleman. His skin tone is much closer to ... to ... my purpose." A grin brightened her expression, fused it with her particular manner of faith and passion without apology or confusion; the psychic scent of Priestess entwined with that of Queen was perfectly unique. Estrellien drew people to the shop even from well outside of it, which suited the proprietor very much. "I do believe we will take that teal coat. Not the trousers however, I want something a little more naval and easier to move in. Those would be too much extra expression with all of that glitter, I'm sure," the Priestess Queen all but purred.

The young Dhemlanese Landen smiled in kind to the tune of marks over fingertips set to music, for that was exactly what this Queen meant to him. They might have called her names of all sorts, but this Blood woman had never been unkind to his place. He adjusted his glasses and spun around on the seat just outside of the larger modeling space to keep an eye upon the door. Mister Juan Correra would have never invited one of her kind to his house or any celebration, but he'd definitely take her money and business, and make sure everything she purchased was the best his wife and daughters had ever stitched. "Will you be needing hats for your man, Lady 'Strella?"

"I certainly shall, sir."

Correra's grin widened all the more. "Filipe! Get this woman hats! And not that garbage you were experimenting on."

Salvador never did anything in a hurry, at least, nothing that did not involve combat.  Eliminating an enemy swiftly and moving onto the next was always best, but there were no enemies in Pamplona for him to worry about.  He had escaped his estate to enjoy himself, not to make haste through a city that he did not know terribly well.  He knew about the Plaza de Toros, and he was determined to find something to enjoy about it.  Thus far, he had been enjoying the attention of a lady or two whose eyes he had caught.  Salvador understood why he was eye-catching.  He was not too humble to fail to recognize that he was, on the whole, an attractive fellow.  Well, not humble at all really.  No point in dithering over a statement of fact.

He cut quite a figure in his dark suit; it was, after all, tailored to fit his muscular frame.  Salvador preferred to have his clothes fit well.  If for some reason he had to explode into motion, or engaged in unexpected battle, he would rather tear his clothes to shreds, then have them cut to ‘allow motion’.  He had seen some of his peers do that, but what was the point really?  No well-tailored set of trousers was going to successfully restrain him in a swordfight, and if the sight of his unrestrained form distracted the enemy, all the better.  No, it was tailored to fit him well, or not at all.  The suit accentuated his frame, and since he was not wearing a tie, it hinted at the colorful ink upon his skin.  So, when a lady smiled at him, and giggled to her friend, he paused to exchange a bit of banter.  He even learned something, the event he was meant to attend was, indeed, at the Cavalho’s, and it was tomorrow night.  The ladies had been shopping, so he asked where, and they told him La Camisería, and he thanked them with a grin, promising to find them both tomorrow evening.

Salvador walked away, feeling their eyes upon him, smiling as he went.  He walked with the grace of a trained fighting man, and not a little confidence in his step.  He was not adorned by jewelry, and he did not tend to wear his Jewels openly.  He made people nervous enough by simply being a Warlord Prince, a powerful psychic scent that he did not really bother to hide.  It had a variety of effects, for some it was a deterrent, for others, it was an allure.  It was this latter group he was more interested in anyway.  A Male not driven away was at least confident, though it could also make a Male territorial and violent, this too was welcome.  Salvador was not without his needs, and while he satisfied them often enough, he was always willing to satisfy them again.  He ran his fingers through his hair, cut close at the sides, and high, showing off the ink that ran up his neck.  He was wondering how far down the walk the recommended shop was, when he didn’t have to wonder anymore.  He saw the sign, and a bit of a crowd.

He arrived to the rear of some of the shoppers whose attention was on the shop in question, and the people within.  Salvador frowned, if the place was this popular, he definitely needed a suit or something from here.  He considered the hats on display, and began to push forward.  Someone thought to restrain him, warning him that ‘the Queen was within’, but Salvador glanced at that fellow with a raised eyebrow, and the realization of his presence silenced the protester.  Salvador could sense the Queen, he did not need to be told that one was present, but there was something more to the scent as well, and he really did want a new suit, now that he was there, looking at some of the displays.  Salvador entered the shop, braving the Queen’s Escorts, and drew up short.  He could see the Queen, he knew it was the Queen, could sense that she was not only a Queen, but something more, a Priestess?

Salvador’s first thought was to turn around.  His Mother held that Caste, and he had enough of her perspective on just about everything, and while that was what his mind said, his body made another decision altogether.  He stepped forward, despite the fact that she was sure to have men that would get in his way.  If she would only turn around, he thought.  Salvador wanted to see her eyes, his gaze traveled along her figure, enjoying the presentation, the outfit that said she was more playful than she probably should be.  That notion made him smile, but there was something else, something about her scent.  ”Lady,”  He began, and was silenced by something that stirred deep inside of him.  Salvador thought of a particular piece of artwork upon his skin, a piece that he had left featureless for the day he could have it filled.  ”Queen…”  He almost called in his Jewels as a body interposed himself between him and the Queen, a customer, a tailor, he barely noticed the obstacle.

Truly, the younger man by approximately half her seasons in the world, was practically a work of art. He spelled danger for her in a way Estrellien had not felt in a very long time, and in the same breath she felt magnificent salvation. She all but begged him to turn and face her, though in the end, did not need to do such a thing. Knowing what this was, and how it could easily turn into a disaster much like her Bond with Raziel had and still was a painful wreck at times very nearly threw Estrellien into a sense of panic.

Somehow, she did manage to breathe, step forward, and gently touch the very young teenager between them with a gentle pulse of her Queen's Touch, and murmured for the boy to go back to his mother. With that small crisis averted, Estrellien laid her hand to one of the Warlord Prince's wide shoulders. So that he would not turn and go looking elsewhere and turn the shop into a center of a spiral for rage, she carefully moved herself into his view, allowing the other males in the shop to be herded carefully by the Landen owner.

Remarkably, it seemed the Priestess Queen had learned a thing or two over the last few centuries. This much was made plain by the way she instructed her attendants by way of threads to package the items intended for Prince Raziel, pay double for them, and move on to the Queen's Palace. There was a sudden respect that she felt for her First Escort which Estrellien would have never expected to feel, but did.

In no way did the Lady Gualtierrez wish for this young male, whom she could sense only at the level of the Green but nothing more than that for certain other than absolutely darker than what she was accustomed to, either to be disrespected as a new attachment to her. Not to speak of, there was no way in any imagination that a Dark Jewelled Dhemlanese male that was certainly as handsome as her Raziel had no life of his own. "I am the Lady your senses are telling you to seek," Estrellien said very carefully. "You are indeed, one of mine," the Priestess Queen explained in such a way that he would immediately understand that she was one he would be required to share.

Dark Jewelled, or handsome with pretty, colourful tattoos or no, anger or no, her First Escort came before all men. But more than that, she could not dare bring one of Dhemlan's darkest Jewelled stars to even the slightest bit of ruin, as if she believed the Cáthedra was after her now, it would be nothing compared to what they would do in such a case, and Estrellien would have just fed them the easiest reasoning ever. "I am Estrellien Gualtierrez, Queen of Logrona District. May I ask your name and where you are from, Prince? Your family? Perhaps you might wish to sit with me?" With great care, and all of the instinct she had never used for for good with her First Escort, Estrellien drew this Warlord Prince toward her with all the delicate finesse of using the leash that Mother Night had just placed in her hands.

Everything is going to be fine. You can do this.

Salvador felt the tension of the moment, and savored it.  Along with his scent and his presence, which seemed to chemically bond to that of the Priestess Queen he had sensed in the shop.  As with all chemical reactions, there was the potential for violence in the air, and it seemed that everyone knew it.  Certainly, he and HIS Queen knew it.  There could be no other explanation for this draw, no other reason for the thrill that ran through him.  Salvador knew that a Queen would make him seem safer to Dhemlan at large, because of his Darkness and his youth, his elders would hope thaat a Queen's touch would insure his stability as the years rolled on.  Maybe it would, maybe it would not.  Stability had not been what he was after, he simply wanted to complete the promise that the Darkness had given him by allowing him to fully Descend to the Gray.

He was certain that whatever Queen he belonged to, whatever Queen belonged to him, she would be something special.  Salvador was not surprised to discover that the woman that drew him on was a Dual Caste, a true blessing, or that she was also as Dark as she was lovely.  He failed to acknowledge the young man that got in his way, he assumed it was an accident of some kind, and before he could determine that, his Queen moved the lad aside.  Salvador did more than look at her, he studied her, he absorbed her as she approached, and breathed deeply, physically and psychically, of her scent.  He leaned towards her slightly, meeting her touch when she reached for his shoulder.  She kept his attention, his eyes meeting hers, a flush running through his body.  Mine.  Something profound and primal whispered to him, as his Queen filled his field of vision.  Salvador sensed the scurrying of mice, rabbits, and hounds, but ignored them in favor of his Queen.

Salvador spoke softly, taking a step closer, so that their bodies were barely apart, and so he could continue to gaze into her wondrous eyes.  "You are my Queen."  It was a statement, and the voice resonated low in the Gray Warlord Prince's chest, lacing his words with an unintended growl of posession.  He already had a Bond Brother, that was a small matter to Salvador.  His Brother, whomever he was, had his moment.  This moment belonged to him, it was his to make sweet or sour, to wash in joy, or to soak it in violence.  He smiled slowly, dangerously, predatorially, and he inclined his head very slightly.  "That I am yours is all that matters for now."  His voice could carry on a deck of a pitching ship, or it could whisper like a caress in a bedroom.  It was a caress now.  Salvador reached out and lightly brushed tattooed fingers against the skin that showed just over her hip, it was surprisingly subtle, and to him, electric.

"I am Salvador Coyote."  He spoke his name as if it answered all questions.  Normally, it did, but it was possible that out here, he was not as famous (or infamous) as he was elsewhere.  "I am from Paloma.  A Captain in our Navy, a student of the University, and will go anywhere you like."  He moved with, never quite breaking eye contact.  "Where shall we sit?"  He did not look around, but one of his eyebrows rose slightly, "There are many eyes here."  Salvador's hands curled and uncurled slowly, and he kept his focus on his Queen, for the safety of the assembled sheep.  "Is there anywhere else we can go?"  He had yet to secure a suite of his own, but he would be near her there, publicly, if he must, but a part of him worried for the variable nature of the crowd, though only a small part.

Another part of him required that the moment be consecrated somehow, in fire and blood, or something else.  Salvador reached out and took his Queen's hand, "Estrellien Gaultierrez.  I have been waiting for you."

Even as Salvador was asking her the question if there was elsewhere they could go, Estrellien was already making arrangements for just the right amount of privacy for a Warlord Prince to delight in a Queen that was a lady belonging to all of the people. So while she could not give him what he wanted because these Landen deserved to witness the beauty of a Bond of the woman that ruled their entire District, more than that, it would put this man's shop on the 'places to be' for Dhemlan clothiers. Because a natural Dual Casted Queen had bonded a Grey Jewelled Warlord Prince in La Camisería of Pamplona.

Literally her plan would set this man's family up for twenty generations or more. So while once, she would have said yes, and thought, 'to hell with the masses' Estrellien simply pulled with a firm elegance on her new Bonded's leash, using the incredible richness of her Queen's Touch to guide him lovingly toward her and the window seat that she had just been in choosing attire for Prince Raziel. Estrellien's golden eyes in that moment were as much all of Salvador's as he needed them to be, and not only were her movement's patient, but so too, was her voice. Never once did she believe that this would again be something she could have.

Estrellien's entire soul shouted with joy and caution mingled. Mostly caution, because Prince Salvador had that look of a man that had never been denied anything in his life, much as she had wished for as a child, but on the other side of the silver spoon, dreaming and foolish. Her father would have snorted at her bonding another 'Aristo boy with more cock in his gold than actual dick', meaning, that they did not have to work for anything but status instead of working to survive day by day.

"Then we are very well met, my sweet Prince." Her pulse skipped along a little quicker with pride, but even that, Estrellien controlled; she already knew how that side of herself could get out of control, and she knew what it could lead to. "Paloma is a good place to be from, and I am glad you have a life that is both full of learning, and that you clearly, being a Captain, know well how to handle yourself in a fight. There are indeed many eyes here, but I am a Ruling Queen. It comes with the territory, my darling. This good man that owns this shop has been kind to close for the day, to give us anything we wish within reason. So while there are eyes, they are eyes on our miracle, yes? All of these people watching are my people." It told her, his words, that he was not from here, and confirmed too, when he spoke of his home. As such, Estrellien would need to guide the respect she expected those of her District to be treated, even in the middle of a Bonding. Perhaps especially so.

Estrellien twirled upon her delicate shoes and taking Salvador's hand, she kissed the palm, as chastely as his mother might, but with the soothing power of about six more of her. The Priestess Queen's heart skipped when he said he had been waiting for her, and her eyes filled with tears, just a little bit of a sheen. It had been a kind thing to say, and she was deeply relieved she had not met this Prince even twenty years ago. Now was a good time. "I expected you were looking for a suit, coming to this place. Shall we look at options while we discuss being Bonded? It is important that you understand what serving a Queen is, if you do not, and if you do, I would love to fill in the gaps of what I expect and would love to have from you. Most importantly, I do not take men from their families. Any part of a family. Have you children? A mistress? Several that matter deeply to you? Parents or siblings that may be of need? Do you like colour in your suits, or do you prefer your tattooing to be the colour for them?"

There was a wickedness and fire in Estrellien's eyes as a Queen, as well as the warmth of a Priestess with deep faith. Both of these existed at once in her, not separately, and neither was less.

Salvador wanted to do the safe thing, the right thing, the pleasurable thing.  He wanted to whisk his Queen away, and he still could.  There were no shields in place to stop him, he could shield her and grab onto the Winds, and they would be gone.  It was not like flight, despite the euphemism used to discuss it.  Salvador did not have to ‘ride’ anything.  A testament to his studies as much as his Darkness.  Salvador did not really know why his Queen would insist on remaining there in a tailor’s shop, but if that was what she wished, he would not argue, but he was terribly aware of everyone’s proximity, and it made the space between his shoulder blades itch.  He understood that sensation, and he did not want it to override the joy of the moment.  Here was the other half of his very soul, the promise kept by the Darkness, and she was beautiful and perfect.

He felt her Queen’s Touch, and his back arched very slightly.  It was like nothing he had every felt before, or would ever feel from anyone else.  Salvador drank in the brush of his Queen’s Craft as though he were a dry sponge dropped into water.  He moved towards her with a smile, holding her eyes, eyes as golden as his own, and he moved to stand close beside her.  Salvador disliked the obstacles between them the awkwardness of their relative positions on something like a bench, when all he wanted to be was close to her, and he knew she wanted the same.  She was calling for restraint, his Queen, and he did not entirely know why.  Because of the witnesses?  So that they might appear ethereal before the masses?  He could not say which, but he decided what the herd saw was their problem, let them watch the predators.  Salvador leaned towards her, his nose not quite touch the side of her neck as she spoke to him.

Salvador made a very quiet, hungry sound.  ”Well met, indeed.”  He breathed in the scent of her, his hand slipping along the skin of her him to her back, just so he could be touching her with a bit more intimacy.  ”I do not mind being watched.”  He smiled slightly, slyly, meeting her eyes with an expression that spoke of mischief.  ”I was merely trying to make the safer choice, but if you think this is safe enough, my Queen, then I will agree so long as I am near you.”  She took his hand in hers, and kissed the palm.  Even his hand bore colorful tattoos, though the palm was currently bare.  His other hand caressed her cheek when he saw the emotion in her eyes.  Salvador had meant every word.  He knew that an unbound Gray was a concern to the Territory Court, and that had it not been for his Naval service, he might well already be serving in a Court—he had not wanted to serve any Queen, lovely as they might be, he wanted to serve HIS Queen.

”I was.”  He replied honestly, ”I have been invited to an event at the Carvalho’s.  I came early to see the sights, get a nice set of rooms, and enjoy my stay.”  Salvador smiled warmly at her, his thumb brushing against the skin at the center of the small of her back.  ”I know what it means.  I have been prepared for this day.”  He chuckled warmly, and kissed her hand in turn, and then her wrist where her pulse pounded.  Salvador laced the kiss with warmth and affection, a mere caress of Craft that he had done almost unconsciously, as though seduction were a reflex.  ”You would be taking me from nothing, my Queen.  My family does very well.  I can be entirely yours.  If the Navy were to call, I do not think you would begrudge them my strength.”  Salvador smiled at all the questions, noting the look in his Queen’s eyes.

”You may see all of my art, if you like.  I lean towards dark suits, or even white suits, to let the ink speak for itself.”  He tilted his head slightly, the caress of her cheek turning into his hand cupping her face.  ”I am at ease, Estrellien.”  He spoke her name softly, reverently, as though he had known it all along but had waited to say it until it truly meant something.  ”You have seen to that.”  She was happy to have him, but she also seemed terribly formal?  Restrained?  Nervous?  Could she be caught off guard?  She had said she had other Bonds, at least one other, to be sure.  Salvador eased her closer, just before they could sit, pressing her form to his as he simply embraced her, nuzzling the side of her neck with the familiarity and gentility of a known lover.  He would let her have her way, perhaps that would reveal more to him.  He was no longer on edge, thanks to her Touch, but it was a fine line to walk with his desires boiling beneath his skin.

Though Blood, the simple Tailor's shop run for generations by one family soothed the rougher edges that were always present in the Priestess Queen, but it was an explanation that she'd have been unlikely to be able to gift to a real Aristo like this new Bonded. Even in the way he spoke, Salvador wanted to treat her with grandiosity, and she could no more blame him than the very wealth possessed by less deserving of those similar to him sitting like ashes in her mouth, when all was desired was a small piece of fresh bread, a handful of grapes. Thus, some of her remaining in this place was stubbornness and the need for control, rigidity, reserve. Estrellien knew better of the sleeping evils in her heart that this sweet one did not need to know or see. Not this day at least. Delight sang through senses paired with deepest sorrow. "I have none in this moment that would bar you from my presence," the Priestess Queen replied with a tremor in response to Salvador leaning closer. Aware that he was at least a little unsettled and able to feel that as if it were her own skin, the Lady Gualtierrez placed her hands between his shoulder blades and drew the man further.

"More than that, I do not run from what is mine in any fashion, whether darling Prince or lovely shop. Yet, I like that you would see me safe. It is an excellent beginning for us," she remarked while keen eyes followed the markings upon his hands. Interest having withdrawn from his back and easing the sense of people watching Prince Salvador once he stated his own comfort level, Estrellien grasped at the Grey Warlord Prince's hand, turning it over to stare and delight in what she saw. Though truth was that she ... had been starved for real connecting touch, the Lady of Logrona did not allow herself to relish too deeply in what was offered.

Carvalho. A very well to do family (by her standards) that often offered a good sight and play of the field as far as Aristos went in this area. They weren't people she had difficulty with at all in a general sense, which was good. It just meant more that the Prince could keep about his life without her stepping in and making potentially unnecessary commentary. Out the window, Estrellien gestured. "Those three are good places to take rooms without being disturbed or upon the tourist track. There are more ostentatious places, however, Sienna's Place, is known for the incredible food and unlimited fresh bedding. Taurus' Den, is one that has a good gambling club for some high stakes and a good bar while one waits. More a gentleman's club as per type, so less questions asked. Lastly, Alannia's Inn is furthest from the 'scene' if you will, but the walls are nice and sound proofed unlike a fair number of other locales one might find, and there's a sparring ring on the property. I believe that one began as a Fencer's Club and grew to more." Estrellien's eyes flared wide with the brush of a thumb at the small of her back; it was real effort not to shiver in honest relief from Salvador's gentle touching, but as well, longing for the Bonded male that despised her.

Ah, life complexities.

"I have known a few good men in service to the Navy, so you are correct. It would trouble me none if they were to call. So long as you remain alive." Pausing thoughtfully, she looked him over. "A good cream suit which has a pattern hidden in the silk that mimics the basic flows and lines of your tattooing would be quite stunning, I would imagine."

"What do you wish to know? I have asked a considerable number of questions, so perhaps it is your turn to do the same. You have managed to Bond the one lady in all of Dhemlan with a real reputation for evil that is not exaggeration. But I try to be good to those that love me, and those that toe the line, which are very few for love, but all can be made to obey given reason. Would you like that? To serve me?"

Estrellien's smile was sweet and dark at once. He had accepted her, this Salvador, and now she could not keep the shadows from her presence in truth.

Priestess and Queen both; it sand in her scent, in their Bond, in his newfound discover of all that she was.  Estrellien had accepted him, taken his Bond to heart, but what he sensed from her, this restraint, he disliked.  They had come upon a moment to celebrate, a moment to be all that they were, all that the Darkness and Mother Night herself promised them, and instead they sat almost demurely together in a tailor’s shop.  Salvador smiled when she reminded up that there was no one that would keep him from her, and he knew that just then, inside of that moment, there was no one who could.  He continued to move closer to her, hearing the subtle tremor in her voice, feeling her hands upon him, drawing him in.  Salvador did not resist.

”I will not run from what is mine either.”  The Gray Warlord Prince offered.  Affirming, once again, that she was His.  He did not care who knew it, or who saw it.  Salvador let her hold onto his hand, and explore them as she saw fit.  He caressed her skin as she did so, fingers stroking across the backs of her hand, or a thumb slowly moving against her skin, just as the one against her back did.  Salvador remained close to her, pressed to her side, close enough to lean in and nuzzle Estrellien again if he wished, but he watched her now as she looked at the lines and color of his hand that disappeared into his sleeve.  His eyes followed her gestured outside, and then returned to her beautiful face, listening to her, but also feeling her in their Bond.

He could not help but notice her reaction to his touch, particularly when he touched her back.  Salvador tilted his head slightly, ”I am certain that every one of those places you have just described are very fine places indeed, but I am far more curious about where you will be.”  He gave the mildest shrug, ”I have an invitation, but it is hardly a firm commitment.  I do not need to go or be anywhere, save with you.”  The Priestess Queen so nearly in his arms was not being terribly clear, at least not to his perception.  She was clearly enjoying him on some level, accepting of their Bond on another, but again there was restraint? Hesitance?  He did not think this woman was much for hesitation.  She knew what was hers, and claimed ownership gracefully.

Salvador touched her cheek, caressed the curve of it lightly as she spoke.  ”I will remain alive, I have done so, thus far, with far less reason to worry about doing so.”  His Naval Careers had been, and would likely continue to be, an outlet for his bloodier instincts and needs.  The Territory was plagued by those desiring to live outside of the system of Governance.  He could admire their zeal, and even their perception of freedom, but not their actions.  ”I will wear whatever suit this fellow can design for me, under your guidance.  I am powerfully curious what you would like to see me in, or out of.”  He tilted his head slightly as she claimed she had a reputation for evil, but also for caring for those that love her or serve her.  Salvador’s smile very nearly mirrored his Queen’s, it was not sweet, but promised decadence, and yet it was as dark as her own.  ”I want to know who you are, my Queen?  I want to know by whose measure are you judged as Evil?”  He leaned in again, brushing his cheek alongside hers, murmuring in his resonant baritone, near her ear.  She could feel his words in his chest, as much as hear them.  ”I will love you, and I will certainly serve you.”  She could sense his desire in the Bond, ”How will you have me?”

Estrellien's well arched brows lifted; hers was an animated expression as she listened to her new Warlord Prince speak. He said more than the Priestess Queen thought he might in response to her words, and if she had not the experience of her centuries, she would have absolutely been enraptured and taken in by Salvador entirely. Instead, it left her very torn and uncertain of what to do next, which was a feeling that was seldom known to the Lady Gualtierrez. In fact, she had been waiting for him to be disgusted, or revolted, which caused her breath to draw in swiftly.

It was startling, fascinating, when that response never arrived, as after all, Estrellien understood perhaps to a degree of few others that the Bond did not mean that one had to like a Queen at all. Unpleasant feelings wrapped around her mind for a moment, but they were swiftly brushed away, though hardly forgotten. What Queen could possibly feel guilt at such a moment as this one!? Estrellien bit her lower lip in savoring the words that Salvador spoke.

I will not run from what is mine, either.

Bowing her head once more while despite feeling still unsettled, her thoughts raced until she eventually came to a decision. Being honest with this one would be a far better path than the subterfuge and difficulty long offered to her First Escort, whom, the Priestess Queen could not help but think about. After all, centuries of of a Bond was different from mere minutes, yet, if anything it made her wish to bend to prayer, that she would leave this new man unharmed in every possible way. Indeed, upon the horizon, because of Prince Salvador, whispered hope. At first, the Lady Gualtierrez continue to close her heart to it, but his smile made her wonder what Prince Raziel might look like, unfettered by hate, frustration, and poison gained by her foolish, young hands.

"I insist that you attend, Prince," she replied softly with a dazzling smile as her heart broke around its hard and cold edges, lifting from the ice that had imprisoned it, so emotionally shaken at the idea that ... those words.

Mother Night, save me from this, please, I beg of thee. I will pray for a thousand years, if you would but spare me this cruelty.

"It is important to me, that when we give our word, it is kept. In exchange, I can swear I will always be honest with you as much as I can in every moment."

I will love you.

I will love you.

I will love you.

Estrellien's hands trembled a little, tracing over Salvador's.

"H-how will I have you?"

The woman loosed a warm, startled laugh while it took real effort not to cry in public, which, she had never done, in her life. Not once in all the difficulty, and cruel measures it had taken to get her noticed enough to even so much as gain a court at all without the Cathedrá using various methods to drown knowledge of her existence and worth before her sins. After, it had been easy. The Lady Gualtierrez had done it to herself. Staring at Salvador's hands, she began to speak once more.

"In two days time if it suits you, I would have you present yourself to my Steward, Prince Alcides Fernandez," the Lady of Logrona began, still stroking her fingertips over one of Salvador's hands. "By then, I will have informed the remainder of my Court that you will be joining us. My Steward will have a contract for you to sign, for one year of service to my First Circle." Since, at the moment her triangle was full and taken, but one could not possibly assign a Grey Jewel to less than the First, especially one that had resonated so well with her in the Bonding, acquitted himself with grace in meeting her and being surrounded by others. No fight did Prince Coyote begin, though he well had the power to do so, just as much as he could have simply swept her away.

It was because he had not, that she sought to offer a reward for that level of tact, as it was not exactly common in those of his Caste. Most importantly, it would give her time to send for Prince Raziel and hopefully, persuade the elder man not to start a fight. He had previously never been fond of other men being around her, but whether it was because she could potentially ruin them, or he saw competition was entirely a mystery. Only in her legal raising to the Logrona District, and her rule of it reasonably fair had they come to a slight stand still.

"The question of course, is if you are willing. I would be very much honoured for you to take such a place." After a long pause, she deigned to answer at least one of the questions the Grey Warlord Prince was sure to have. "Though I did not commit the violence with my own hands," she remarked while drawing an additional aural shield around the two of them in subtle form, "Centuries ago, while young ... I caused the demise of the near-flawless reputation and contributed to the ruin of the good name of my current First Escort, and I beg you to take this with the seriousness in which I offer the tale. My stupidity caused the death of his parents, and much of their court," she explained directly, not straying away from difficult honesty.

"It is important that you know this, in fairness of fact if you are to consent to serve me. Price, as any would call it in a legal sense, has been paid many times over, but legal matters do not change what moves a man's heart. I hurt him, my only other Bonded, in a way that one should never hurt a man, and I have seldom repented enough, I think, that he would say," Estrellien explained plainly, with caution. "My old Triangle, First Circle, and half the Second met their deaths for mocking the Warlord Prince in turn; he had spared me only for the Bond and the torture of it, which in a cold rage, was very fair. I laughed at his grief, I do admit. I think most of your shared Caste would have simply killed me."

"I am willing to answer any questions that you wish. But it matters dearly to me that new Bond or no ... I am not a paragon of tenderest grace, even if I wish at times that I was," the Priestess Queen admitted with a softening smile. "Will you still serve me, despite this? They call me murderer, betrayer, the lady with no heart, and Pirate Queen. I cannot deny that all of these cruel barbs have some truth in them," a chuckle eased free from the Priestess Queen. Left hand lifting, she stroked her fingertips slowly down Salvador's face, letting herself delight in him for several heartbeats, allowing the fullness of the bond to rush through as Estrellien had yet to do before returning with difficulty to her previous restraint.

"These days, since the Purge at least, I try to ... care more for Dhemlan, than it ever did care for me. Especially care for those that have so little, though they work as hard as our Territory demands. I am a shameless, often greedy Queen even as I try to restrain myself, but I am equally one that strives for fairness and a good rule. If you would walk away now, beautiful Prince, I would wish you well, you have my oath." Once more, Estrellien waited with a lifted chin, trying her very best for patience despite that it was not often her strongest trait, all while some piece of her heart whispered for him to stay.

Abide with me ... though I am worthless as stale bread given to the poorest.

Estrellien bent forward and slipped to the beautifully patterned wooden floor, only to rest her forehead upon Salvador's knees. "I do not know why you or anyone would love me, this late in the game. Kinder than anything I deserve, I am sure." With a furious will, the Lady held back her tears still, refusing to influence that way.

Salvador was not being insincere.  Life was a thing to be lived, and that included taking risks.  Thus far, he had survived every gamble, and every risk had been rewarded, whether by the sinking of a ship, the death of an enemy, or the soft sigh of a satisfied lover.  He did not do so out of any sort of philosophical outlook or any sophistry.  He did so because he could, because he had the ability and the power, and he was an aristocrat of the Blood  These were indisputable facts.  Anyone saying otherwise was merely pushing a false agenda meant to assuage a conscience that had somehow developed beneath some skewed perception.  Salvador was very clear about his place in the world, and that place was somewhere near the top, with his Queen.

Something troubled his Queen, he could sense that much, even read it in the way she moved and where she cast her eyes.  She was not displeased to discover a new bond, far from it, but something restrained her feelings, and clouded his perception.  There should be joy here, and nothing else, instead there were tinges of worry, even confusion.  Salvador remained close to her, taking in the bright and shining smile that hid what he felt moving within her.  ”You insist that I attend this event?  I came on a whim, my Queen.  I made no firm commitment, in truth, my appearance will be a surprise for all present.”  He grinned at that, looking wolfish.  A pleasant surprise, of course, because everyone was always happy to see Salvador Coyote at a party.  ”Perhaps,”  He began in a soft whisper by her ear, ”My Queen can dress in something sensual, albeit subtle, and attend with me.  I can keep you safe and hidden, and you can sample the simple fruits of an evening of celebration.”

Salvador’s promise of decadence only increased as she stumbled over her words.  He brushed his lips against the side of her neck, a warm, slow caress before he spoke again.  ”Yes, how.”  The words were barely a whisper, though they were a promise.  He smirked, ”There are rooms here, I am sure, that would offer us privacy and other options.”  The Gray Warlord Prince growled softly, and sighed in mild disappointment as she offered him an official-sounding meeting.  ”I will do this thing for you, my Queen, though I ache to take you from here.  I sense a burden within you that I would happily relieve you of, but I also sense that perhaps now is not the time.”  He raised each of her hands to his lips in turn, ”But the time will come.”

He laughed, showing his teeth, his expression predatory, even hungry.  ”Of course I am willing.  I am yours and you are mine.  I could never turn away from what is mine, or from the adventure that our Bond offers.”  Salvador listened to the tale of how she ruined someone’s reputation centuries ago.  He was not sure why that mattered today.  Certainly the long lived had equally long memories, but to carry that much hate or guilt around over so long a time was not an effortless task.  That took work.  Her First Escort, and both of them too much in love with suffering to let the poison go it seemed. ”You punish yourself for a perceived crime that occurred in your relative youth?  I know that to many, I seem young, and perhaps I am, but I see the world through the same lens.  I know that barring death, I will see centuries, even millenia.  Of what value is this self-flagellation after all this time?”

”Repent?  For what?  Ambition?  Youth?”  Salvador shook his head slightly.  ”You are tell me but a fragment of a story.”  He too a breath, and once again raised one of her hands to his lips.  He kissed her wrist softly, and then caressed his fingertips over the spot.  Querida Reina, I lament the loss of such talent from your court those many years ago, but Bond or not, why should you endure such mistreatment?”  He snorted, ”My Caste deals in death, not torture, my Queen.  The Blood kills, it is what we do, it is what I am made to do.”  Salvador slide fabric slowly along her arm, and kissed her skin again.  ”If the insult were so grave; killing you should have been where it ended.  Your First Escort would live with an open wound for all of his days, but at least it would have been honest.”

Salvador growled softly, and smiled.  ”I will serve you.  I will love you.  I will scoff at those that call you Pirate Queen or any of the rest.  What do I care about the opinions of those outside of our Bond, of those less than we are?”  He lifted his head and met her eyes, his fingers twining with hers, his tattooed palm pressed to her soft skin.  ”You will have to tell me one day how you came by these epithets, at our leisure, perhaps tangled in soft sheets.”  Salvador grinned, ”I will say it again.  You are my Queen, I will have all of you.”  He tilted his head as she continued on, detailing the woman she believed herself to be, the Queen she thought that the people perceived her as.  ”Shameless?”  His perfectly arched brows rose, ”I see no evidence of that thus far.  You have been quite proper, even restrained.”

She surprised him then, moving to her knees before him, and resting her head in his lap.  Salvador’s fingers ran slowly through her hair, before tracing the whorl of her ear.  He leaned over her, protectively, ”I love you already.  You are a Sapphire Queen of the Blood, you deserve this and more.  Let your First Escort tend his empty garden, I will make the flowers bloom for you.”  Once again, he ran his fingers through her hair, caressing her neck a for a minute, before gently lifting her chin.  Salvador leaned down, and with main strength, lifted her up onto his lap, and held her body against his.  ”Now, all your warnings have been made, and here I remain.  By your side, I will stay.  How would you have me now?”

Prince Coyote's response was nothing alike what Estrellien expected. There had been several scenarios that the Priestess Queen had considered, including that the Grey Warlord Prince would choose not to remain in her service at all. She had in fact, prepared herself for the rejection, the ripple of pain to be endured, like so many other things. Yet, he did none of those things. First, he questioned the reason to attend such an event, particularly and remain away from her. Estrellien's gaze dropped as he whispered near her ear, teasing warmly and trying to coax her to remain with him.

Desire, the need to do what was asked seethed in the Lady Gualtierrez. But Mother Night, there had been so many times she had not attended to the people that had her first responsibility. Her Court was the greater demand, and the lady knew it. If she went with him for even an hour, it would be impossible to maintain the discipline she had been trying so hard to cultivate. But ah, it was sweet. So very sweet that he would ask. The very request lit Estrellien's senses on fire; she couldn't help but gently kiss the Warlord Prince's cheek. "If not for the responsibilities I possess, I would be with you. Do not doubt that I desire it. Some time soon, once I have attended to what is demanded of my position, I will give you my time. You have my word, Prince Coyote."

Her heart pounded hard in her chest, and the woman's lower lip near trembled as he spoke of carrying her away, but in the same breath, he understood that she was unable. Such a darling. Yet, his reaction to her crime was most unprecedented. "The value is because I have not valued him. I never understood how to deal with his rage and pain. I can only tell my half, and my understanding of his heart ache ... is limited. I think that he tried, and wanted to kill me, but couldn't for love, for potential. I deserved it entirely, Salvador," she remarked with a baring of teeth, and a familiar, now intimate growl of his name that barely hinted at the restrained cruelty in the Queen.

"It was only with the Purge, the sacrifice and loss of Queen Mitra sa Roya that I contrived to rethink the direction of my life after so many false deals and ... foolishness. I begged mercy through Protocol and asked for a Court instead of taking what I wanted, for once. This district I serve, was to prove myself better, and I have tried, for almost two hundred years to do that," Estrellien clicked her tongue, then smiled. It would not do to offer a hand of temper toward her new bonded. That had been the damned problem with Raziel, and Mother Night love her, she wouldn't repeat history. "The men that served in my Court long ago were vile, truly evil sycophants, and I was too much the fool to see it before it was too late." He might not have dealt in torture, but she, in her way, had reveled in it, once; the beat of her pulse remained just there, beneath all of the layers of her attempt to be good and wise.

"I have asked so many times why not just kill me, and I think there was one part of him that loved just enough to spare me. I am apologetic now, but for centuries I was not. It was deliberate sabotage, and I received entirely what was earned. But even cruel beings sometimes seek another path for one reason or another ..." her laughter spilled loud and long at the idea that she could explain each of the names she has been called one time or another, the edge of her passion suddenly fierce and wild before it was chained again, even as it glowed in her eyes, the twitch of amused lips. "I should not be surprised that you would want to know truth from my own lips. I will make the official business worth your while."

A gasp eased from her as Salvador lifted her from the floor and her kneeling position upon his lap, and swore his service despite everything she said to him. "You gift to me more, ever more than I deserve," the Priestess Queen murmured before turning toward him, and folding her arms around Salvador. "I would like to choose a suit for you, and before your party, you may have me in private for a little while before I had best return to Court." Later, later, she would weep, for such was the incredible blessing of this find, but not in this moment.

Estrellien wanted him to stay.  He could sense that much, even through her hesitance and worry.  Salvador was not teasing her, not really, he was simply offering her what she wanted, and what he wanted as well.  He was honoring whatever distance she wished to maintain, whatever caution she wanted to exercise, even as he stepped through lines and boundaries to do it.  He noticed the way her eyes lowered, felt the blossoming of desire within her, as was right when faced with her Bonded, with him.  She kissed his cheek, but Salvador wanted more, and knew that in time, he would have just that.  ”I do not doubt your desire, my Queen, though I lament your sense of responsibility, it is only correct.”  He smiled, his lips almost against the side of her neck, close enough that she could feel the brush of them as he spoke so softly to her.

He growled very softly, a sound of desire and want, and perhaps mild frustration for her perspective.  ”There is always value in a lesson learned, Querida, but there is no sense in keeping guilt as though it were a beloved pet.  Learn from it, improve, do better, and then let it go.  It serves neither of you at all.”  He breathed a soft sigh when she used his name, and for that, he did kiss her.  He did not try to seduce, or to gently lure.  He lifted his hand to her cheek, guided her eyes to find his, and kissed her lips softly.  ”You deserved it then, perhaps, but what is done is done.  How long must you be punished?  How long must you carry this guilt that cripples even this joyous moment?  Even Mother Night and Protocol demands that a Price be paid for a wrong, and the matter done.  It seems to me that you need to take better account of the price.”  The sound of her growl only drew a shiver down his spine.

Salvador nodded slightly, ”The Purge was long ago.  People will say that to us, it feels like mere moments, but you’ll forgive my frankness—I am a sailor—that is bullshit.  A year is a year, a century a century, that you and I will see so many does not make the passage of time meaningless.”  He leaned forward, and nuzzled her softly, breathing in the warmth of her scent.  ”You have carried this around for two hundred years, and you do not think it is enough.  By whose yardstick is this being measured?”  Salvador smiled, and took her hand again, caressing the length of each finger.  ”I would not suffer such to surround you now, my Queen.  You are fortunate to be rid of them.”  Salvador paused a moment, and listened to the rest of the tale and the time spent in apology.  It still seemed unnecessary for immortals to hold this kind of grudge.  He had wiped out an entirely port full of people, many were pirates, many were simply trying to make a life in the cracks of society.  He had taken steps to avoid that rage.  Salvador was a Gray; he was well aware of his limitations, and just how far he had to reach to find them.

”Did you?  I am not so sure.”  Eventually, he held her in his arms, lifting her from the floor where she did not belong.  ”I gift you exactly as you deserve.  You are MY Queen.  This is what you deserve, Mother Night herself has sent me to you.  Tell me that is not true.”  He smiled warmly into her eyes, ”You may dress me how you like.”  Salvador carried her forward into the shop, into the back where measurements would be taken, and where privacy for a time could be found.

Estrellien offered a wide smile in response to Salvador's words, though held the man close to her when he smiled against her neck. That at least was very easy to give. The Priestess Queen's fingers wandered freely as the Grey Warlord Prince would allow down his back, up the man's arms. She dragged her nails over the curve of his head. "Yes. Holding such position means that I must always attend to it. But that does not mean I will stop thinking of you." She sighed as he growled, but turned her attention to listening because of it. It had been once, the guilt that kept her aware of what she needed to do and be. She honestly did not know if she was able to let go of it yet. However, that there was one man in her life that believed she could, certainly gave her hope. Estrellien eagerly returned the kiss she was given, though as well was careful not to entice. It was not an easy path to keep her lips gentle and sweet, but still, the lady knew it was well worth it.

Golden eyes capable of more sternness than he let her see, she suspected, snared her own. "I have held that guilt for a long time. But sometimes I am afraid it has not been long enough, that I have truly cared. A work in progress," the Priestess Queen admitted. "How is it measured? By the pain, I feel from him, in the Bond between us. I had forgotten it could feel another way." Her lower lip trembled despite the discipline she hoped would keep her deeper emotions from colouring this moment. She felt terrible, talking of sadness in the middle of Salvador's sacred spaces with her. "Alright, I will surely try," she whispered in response to his commentary of her lost Bonded. They had not been by any measure good men, for themselves, their families, and certainly not for her. With that, the topic was closed and she allowed it to be so.

She gasped when Salvador picked her up, able to feel his musculature hidden beneath the very nice clothing. Estrellien's eyes were all for him, while her arms wrapped around his neck. The place that he took her was surrounded by suiting options in every colour, along with plenty of seating. She pointed to a chair that he could set her if the Warlord Prince so chose at that moment to put her down, but she did not insist upon it. "Two black, one pure, perfectly white suit, one warm grey ...ah," she laughed softly, taking in the options. "Perhaps several options for shirts. At least ten or twenty in the new silk for this year," she murmured while absently nuzzling Salvador's neck. "A few neckties and cravats for the most formal events, and silk handkerchieves to match them. Silk socks, and three ... no, six pairs of shoes," she murmured, pleased with herself. "Do not fret at the amounts and cost. It is but a fraction of what your payment for serving in my First Circle will be, but these are my gifts to you."

"I think we may leave you two suits to your care, and the rest, shipped to the Queen's Residence at Logrona. Does it please you? I do know that these things mean much less to you than my touch. But it is part of a standard contract with me. I want to be good to the men that choose to serve me, and it has been a very long time since I have bonded anyone. Tell me more about you, Salvador? Please?"

Salvador listened to his Queen’s words, but he paid far more attention to what she did not say.  Her body, his Bond with her, and the way she looked at him said much more than her words could.  She returned his kiss, and he could sense the restraint in it.  He wanted more from Estrellien, he wanted the abandon he felt within her, the abandon that was the truth.  Instead, what he sensed was conflict, unnecessary and burdensome.  Salvador took a long, deep breath, his lips remaining close to Estrellian’s.  ”You can always feel another way.  We live so very long, why would you wrap yourself in only one option.  We are meant to learn from mistakes, not wallow in them.”

Sometimes, people were simply determined to live with their pain, earned or not.  Salvador would never understand that.  They lived for centuries, they could change who they were at will, the only things they could not change were their Caste and their Jewels, but they could be a different Warlord Prince or Queen a century or five from now.  ”I would say that you have been held prisoner long enough.”  He shook his head slightly, ”Like a beautiful bird in too small a gilded cage.  How are you supposed to spread your wings?”  He hoped that Estrellian would do as she claimed, that she would reevaluate her stance in the face of her new Bonded; a Gray Warlord Prince with nothing butaffection for his Queen, boundless and passionate.

Salvador held her close, her arms around his neck, supporting her weight effortlessly.  He enjoyed feeling her body against his, a soft rumble in his chest making that clear as she began to suggest shopping options for him.  His Queen nuzzled him softly, almost unconsciously it seemed.  ”As many shoes as you think I need.”  He chuckled, ”I typically do not worry about such things, and I will be sure to pay you back many times over when we have more time together.”  He grinned, ”I will wear them proudly to this event, where my mind and heart will be yours, despite your absence.”  Salvador kissed her once more, ”You please me, my Queen, everything else is merely a benefit that streams from you and our bond.”  Salvador found a new place to sit away from the stir of her entourage, and gathered her close.  ”I will tell you everything...”
