Current Dena Nehele Petition
« on: Mar 09, 18, 10:08:38 AM »
Character's Name: Rilandra Vlas
Character's Caste: Queen
Character's Jewels: Rose to Opal

Territory Plot:
For the common people, little has changed. They watched, helpless, as their beloved Queen, Darcia Glassade, was ripped from them. Hope swelled when Rilandra Vlas, known to them as “The People’s Queen,” took control of the Territory in Darcia’s absence. But Riley’s hands were heavily tied, and that fledgling hope dwindled as time passed without the type of revolution the people had always privately prayed for.

Not everything is the same. Riley flooded the Priestesshood with money from an unknown benefactor, and that money has poured into outreach for the poor. For a short time, Gavril Conta was stripped of both his puppet and his puppet strings, unable to control or manipulate Riley while he was imprisoned, and only able to hold her at bay once released. But when Darcia was returned, the people started to realize things were not as they had been. Another puppet master had taken control of their precious Queen, only now, she looked ill. Withdrawn and heartbroken by the knowledge that she had been lied to her entire life, Darcia was not the glowing symbol of health and vitality the Territory had come to rely on.

There is rumor that the new puppet master has perished at the hands of the Guilds, and another that he was killed at a party by a wealthy Aristo. Regardless, the Territory now waits with baited breath, unsure what the next move will be. Whispers of revolution spread through the streets like wildfire, and there is a bitter anger that fills the air. No longer complacent, the Territory is on the brink of tearing itself apart if something doesn’t change.

Succession Plan:
Since Darcia’s return, Riley has been splitting her time between Tulzbruja and Bidea. It has become clear to her that Darcia is no longer fit to rule, and that something deep down has shifted and broken in the other Queen. Darcia is not the same unknowing pawn she was before. Riley has watched from a distance as Darcia has been forced back under the controlling hands of her husband and father, watched as the shadows have settled more heavily over the Queen’s soul. It is something she can’t let stand.

With the help of the Jacks who serve her Court, Riley will secure a meeting with Artur, the Red Jeweled male who attacked her, and the Master of the Guilds. A dangerous negotiation will occur, and it will be agreed upon that in exchange for Darcia’s safe removal from the Court and a protected life to follow, Riley will seize control of the throne, with the Guilds’ support. Of course, no deal with the devil comes without a steep price. The Guilds will now have a level of control they have never before experienced over Dena Nehele’s Court, and Riley will face becoming a very different kind of pawn.

Using both Jack and Shaos Guildsmen to smuggle Darcia out of the Court, Riley will be there waiting, come morning, backed by a heavy force of her own men and Guildsmen who are there to ensure the succession goes smoothly. To the Aristos’ fury, Riley will be declared Territory Queen of Dena Nehele. The people in the street will celebrate, throwing huge parties all throughout the Territory. The Aristos will retreat to gather their wits about them and decide what to do about what they see as Riley’s hostile takeover of the Territory.

Behind closed doors, Gavril Conta and the other Aristos will attempt to find a way to bring Riley off the throne. Catina Cosma will argue for her own place as Territory Ruler, but of course, no matter of wishing it was so makes her Court strong enough to go against Riley. Adamara Pavel wants nothing to do with the Territory Court, and will refuse all offers concerning it. After days of discussion, the Aristos will realize what Riley already has: that with both the Guilds support and the people’s support behind her, she is simply too powerful to simply dethrone.

Instead, they will come up with a compromise. The new Queen will be assigned a small group of Aristo advisors, to ensure that the Aristo’s needs are being looked after fairly. She must also make room for those of Aristo birth in her First Circle. After all, a common born Queen simply does not know what it is that the Aristos may need.

There will be considerable political pressure put on the Queen to marry within the Aristo class and all eyes will fall to Remus Glassade. It is not uncommon knowledge that the two were once close and were even lovers, but their falling out and the reasons behind it have been kept secret by both Riley and the Glassades. Neither are ready to face what Remus’ return will mean, but it’s clear now is the time. Riley’s own guilt will fuel her and she will use whatever force necessary to return Remus to Dena Nehele. Of course, that means negotiating with both those who rule Chaillot and Dark Haven, where the very beliefs of the culture feel like a blasphemy to the rest of the Blood.
