Appearance

Play By: Fan Bing Bing
Distinguishing Features: Sibylla's slightly paler skin and curl to said black hair hint at partial Tacean heritage even as she is fully Long-Lived. She has the slightly gaunt presence of a Dark Jewelled woman that is somewhat absent-minded with attending food needs. Upon her back are old whip marks of various ages that have been well healed and disguised by a series of tattooed vines, but the right pair of eyes can see the aged whip marks. Given a true obsessive manner of being clean, her skin carries a hint of honey and mint from very good soap. As Illuricae - her mask is a creamy golden brown save for the faint outline of a golden candle flame atop the forehead.

Personality

Personality: Patience, Forced Stoicism, Mercurial, Disciplined, Cautious. These are all words that outline just who the Lady Sibylla is as a born witch, and a well trained Black Widow. She is patient because she has learned the cost of not being so is high in terms of life and death. Having experienced peaceful moments as well as dangerous, the Widow's forced stoicism is a characteristic that has saved her life. Having learned the Caste of the Widow, additional discipline was an initial part of her tutelage. As a result, both the tendency for violence and sensuality of the Black Widow Caste are subtle. Sibylla is known for a controlled aggressiveness and a precise manner of possessiveness.

Having experienced loss earlier than many due to politics and the very complex existence of life in Hayll, Sibylla values deeply what she does have. The Lady is mercurial by nature, though much of this trait has been refined and manipulated over the decades under the Lady Cinerus being first Honoured Matron, then handler, so to speak in joining the Tenebrosi Iarvis. As such, one manner in which the mercurial essence of her personality breaks the fine control learned is through the loss of what has been claimed as hers whether formal or informal. Blessed or Cursed with nearly the Darkest Jewels possible, it is little surprise that Sibylla burns very hot and intensely cold with an immediate sharpness even though she has been taught reasonable control for such a young witch.

As one that loves intensely, but varied in her preferences and desires, she can be very loyal. Her interest exists with very little middle ground. Either Sibylla is drawn to a person, or she tends toward feeling indifference. That tendency for the latter has long made her an easy mark for tutelage within the membership of the T.I. Capable of putting on a role or an emotional face in the way some Hayllian women wear new gowns in rapid succession, she makes an excellent foil for those that are more inclined toward direct kills. Sibylla is the kind of woman capable of learning a mark long before they are aware they have been studied. While originally a method used to help her heal from the severe trauma of being enslaved, the study of people has been turned toward a cautious expression of gaining allies. Given her youth and personal experiences, she is deeply loyal to the idea that Hayllian tendencies toward excess can be turned toward usefulness, or burned to oblivion.

It is here that the woman's indifferent nature has an exception and rage takes its place. While some would be ashamed of their past existence as a slave, Sibylla has mostly refused to allow this random event to mark her as a woman, or Blood. After all, bad things happening to good people in some ways can explain the Purge itself, while flipping the card over can reveal the hand of Justice, which is especially how she views herself.

Likes:
  • 1 Intellectual Discourse: The topic does not particularly make the major difference to Sibylla, but instead the mode and how the discussion begins first snares the trained Black Widow's attention. How any such thing takes place could be compared to the sensually detailed game of Chess. Reasoning in addition often seizes the Lady Traianus' interest; when a mere gifted Red Jewelled witch, she could hardly help herself in games of chance with conversing. As an adult and fully trained Black Widow, these interests in conversational topics are the prelude to foreplay because even a seduction must have an order of acts.

  • 2 Lighter Descents: Blood with lighter descents tend to calm Sibylla, sometimes making it easier for her not to see them as a threat. They are ever so much more likely to think with their brains first rather than hotheaded, overwrought emotion. While this appreciation is certainly hypocritical on the surface due the Darkness of Jewels of the people she has spent the most time with, it stems from the Black Widow's earliest memories with her birth family, before politics caused a sour explosion. As such in the case of offering forth any modicum of trust or care, even if falsified, the Black Widow is often keen to bend or relax in infinitesimal amounts. While for such a woman the lightness of jewels is relative, in this case, it refers to all those with descents that are Green or less. Warlord Princes are an exception, as are other Black Widows.

  • 3 Freedom: Fresh air whether blistering hot or freezing cold, or somewhere in the middle. Running her own concerns rather than tending to orders, these things deeply please Sibylla, even as much as she prefers being told what her mission must be by her betters. The smallest moment of being able to make a decision soothes. Clothing choice, the pick of a variety of lovers found by pure chance. Each moment serves as a reminder that being held captive does not define the Black Widow as a person.

    Dislikes:
  • 1 Uncontrolled Rage: Given the sheer depth of her power and recalling experience on at least a few occasions the result of lack of control over her Craft, Sibylla dislikes Blood unable to control themselves in a moment of passion. However, uncontrolled rage is a presence that she distinctly holds disdain for. In her very well trained mind, especially considering her youth, there seems little point to life if one is not in very precise command of the anger felt and the consequences of the person or people that have aroused it. Warlord Princes are the only ones, to a point, that are exceptions to this rule. After all, if one builds only to tear down with rage at too many moments, then why thrive? This is a matter that could at least cause the trained Black Widow to cease association with a friend, or lover, regardless of how close the relationship. Given her dual persona, in particular, she has no liking for plans destroyed by an accidental mishap.

  • 2 Sleeping Alone: It is the lack of being held and touched while sleeping that Sibylla handles poorly. Standing so very deep in the Abyss, freely given touching soothes Sibylla in a general sense and makes it easier for her to think, to rationalize in a moment where it should be of great difficulty. Not sleeping alone offers an additional control upon her tendency for mercurial expression once again awake. There is something of the sensual at such times, even the glide of linen over the skin in a flirtation with another witch, or warlord, or whatever the Caste is enough to keep this particular dislike in rest.

  • 3 Crowds: With irony, crowds are not a favourite of the Lady Sibylla. It was in a crowd that she first lost sight of her parents once in a place that should have been safe, it is in crowds that the unpredictable for a woman like her to get severely out of hand. It is with control and quiet, with limited people in her presence that the working of a room if only half filled can be of positive use to Sibylla. Some of her worst experiences as a slave, though the period was brief, had to do with crowds of unpleasant, inebriated Hayllians, as much as she all but worships her culture and homeland. It is a difficult business, making certain that the dance between a variety of people is predicted so that unneeded violence, especially the kind that can cause self-trauma, or pointless casualties, can be prevented.

    Fears:
  • 1 Being Enslaved Again: Gaining her freedom by a violent escape, and shortly thereafter rescued unexpectedly, her time as an enslaved youth still ripples through with effects in the present, despite it having been decades ago. She still remembers the collar and the distance from her Red Birthright Jewel except on the rarest occasion. Though the slavers that kept Sibylla and succeeded in her recapture are dead, the concern either occasionally keeps Sibylla from sleeping well, or makes the witch turned Black Widow wake up screaming. Due to her youth, she was able to escape most damage and torture, but she didn't come away unmarked.

  • 2 Failing Indomitus/Lilith: The Lady Lilith became her Matron after Prince Draco rescued her as an adolescent; she taught her everything she knows. Now that Sibylla has learned that Lilith is really Indomitus of the Tenebrosi Iarvis and has been the woman's student in truth for the sake of Hayll, the stakes are even higher. She is expected to maintain her cover for the sake of everything Hayllian, including any relationships she makes, including the various men and woman she has cared about or coveted, including love lost or known. To Lilith, failure is a dreadful disappointment and does not belong in someone almost good enough to be an adopted daughter, someone that the Lady Cinerus even sponsored for a time in service with the Hayllian Territory Court. To Indomitus, failure is death, failure, is having ones mind rewired and turned inside out to suit the flames of Hayllian revolution and rebuilding. Sibylla is terrified of failure almost as much as she is having to actually kill Draco, or worse, break him of his beautiful jewels.

  • 3 Hayll's Redemption: What is Hayll with its Redemption? What will it look like to the masses, and to the commons or the Hundred Families? Sibylla is uncertain if each of these pieces of Hayllian society will cease to exist, or if something else will take their place. Even though the youthful trained Black Widow believes change does need to happen in her Territory of birth, she does not know if burning everything that came before either in a metaphorical sense or a literal one is truly the best idea. Nor, is she certain if getting rid of slavery completely is even possible. She worries that in trying to reform their fascinating, beautiful home that it may end up remade into a place that is far worse than the nightmares imagined, where the poor are simply dead, and the Families have literally everything, instead of most things. Someday, Sibylla would like to have a family, and while she has seen that the Lady Lilith was able to do it, Sibylla is afraid of being the kind of 'mother' that her Matron is, though she loves and respects her. Such ice seems to be in its way, the antithesis of being a saviour of the people. It chills Sibylla to the bones, even as she respects it and is left in awe.

    Craft Strengths:

  • 1 Shadow Building, Golem: As an extension of traditional Shadow Building which for Sibylla is very lifelike, ascertaining the illusion takes extra effort below the level of a Cut Red Jewel. These are especially effective in defensive combat, and interacting with the world in some limited ways that illusions cannot.

  • 2 Black Widow Webs, Craft Delivery: One type of Craft that Sibylla has especially been trained in is the placing of various Craft within the webs she creates for a variety of purposes, but most especially the spreading of beneficial Craft to a greater spatial range. Her Craft Delivery is intended to assist in increasing the yields upon lands that have already and are consistently flourished through a competent Queen's Gift. Her webs are particularly long-lasting, remaining for many hours or days at a time for additional saturation of the land especially in drought-filled areas, but only for very narrow Craft use. Irrigation is another major secondary use for her delivery webs, and are very finely created.

    Craft Weaknesses:
  • 1 Crafting Poisons: Crafting Poisons is a particular weakness. When she does attempt to create poisons, they are typically little but herbs and toxins turned to mush. On the one percent occasion, she can make extremely strong and heavy-handed, or very weak when the reverse is called for if they register at all as a functional poison. Most of the time, sending Sibylla to make a poison is like asking a child to experiment with the tools of a sous chef. It's really not recommended as her skill is about as next to nil as it comes.

  • 2 Protection Spells: While skilled reasonably well in protecting herself with Shields and Defensive and Offensive Craft without physical contact of another person, Sibylla can not pass said spells on in the form of a Protection Spell. The one and only time she attempted to ensure the wellbeing of a very close friend whilst trying to escape slavers, with the use of her Red as an adolescent, she killed him horrifically. Deepened guilt tangles her thoughts while trying to use her Craft in this particular way and isn't something she has ever been able to heal in her own mind.

History: In Hayll, the personage that is of partial heritage can find themselves living out a nightmarish caricature of life. While this does not especially describe Sibylla, it does describe the events that rippled through her family through to her brief idyllic childhood to display that Hayll is for Hayllians, and the rest, Long-Lived but tainted heritage, Short-Lived, can get back to whatever foul den they crawled out of. If one is not Hundred Families, then whether existence will be kind is perhaps the toss of a coin, or how good a game one can talk. Sibylla's history begins with a well-meaning trader and Warlord named Ming Zhou that left Tacea briefly to find his fortune long before the country closed itself to outsiders. Not one to delight in the traditional manner that men were deemed to be those forced into a specific mould, Sibylla's maternal great-grandfather, decided to take his chances across the sea with then trading partner Hayll.

Over the man's life in attempting to thrive among a people extremely different from him in nearly every way, he fathered a son with a highly known and relatively famous Courtesan long before the Purge was a glimmer in anyone's eye. The Lady Tullia Luria denied Lord Zhou paternity of course because she had no interest in losing her following and admitting a love affair with an 'inferior' Short Lived male, nor in potentially having her son snatched away from her. Resultingly despondent, Lord Ming Zhou returned home, married a young woman from among his own people, and only dreamed about the son he had fathered across the ocean occasionally when wistful or drunk. Given that he eventually fathered some six other children, while he never forgot the one denied to him, it wasn't exactly a priority as family and traditional Tacean duty filled most of the hole left in Lord Ming's heart.

Thus, Captain Shui Zhou Luria grew up with a romantic love of sailing, ideas of the man his father might have been and little more than his odd name from across said sea, claimed by choice despite prevailing tradition. His mother died not long after he gained his Offering and majority, though telling her son of his father in his youth when the differences in himself and other Hayllian boys was noticed, despite her hardened heart. It was perhaps the impossibility of Prince Shui's existence that emboldened the man to seek his hearts desire from a young woman in a side branch of the Hundred Families Aelius branch. He spotted her while trading for silk with a lesser member of the household in a window, and vowed he would have the pretty witch for his own. Lady Dido was, of course, disowned by her family for her choice of a lesser and half long-lived man. The pair had only one child, named Violante, whom was given her mother's surname as per custom and only learned the barest bit of knowledge about her father's oddly blended heritage. If not for the Purge, it is likely that the family would have remained among the invisible masses of Hayll.

Instead, the Purge, paired with the Occupation of Hayll before it wiped out the majority of the Aelius family, left a handful of men and the partially Tacean Violante Aelius. Even given her visible flaw of eyes so dark a gold they were closer to a pale brown, the primary reason the very much weakened Aelius family were willing to take Violante in was that she had been born a Queen. Even with her very light jewels, she could be of minor political use. Her father and mother had survived the purge broken, only to be assassinated quietly directly afterward by a few of the remaining Aelius men, which offered a very perfect and precise timing, and Violante dependent upon distant male cousins she did not truly know well.

Given the chaos and the grief of the Purge, she was willing to do anything asked of her, which included being married off to Aegidius Primus Traianus, a Warlord of middling means from a family of relatively politically lax Senators, though left blessed with an abundance of money after the Purge, and fewer people. It seemed a fitting match, at least until the Lady Violante, after having three children for her husband to add to the ones he already possessed, discovered that her parents had been assassinated. Given that the deal had been one in the man's favour, it had seemed wise to keep his knowledge of this fact, quiet from his wife.

If not for Sibylla's Birthright, the entire business very likely would not have mattered beyond the embarrassment of her mother asking too many questions. After all, the woman was of use, could continue to have children for the benefit of both families. Instead, in the midst of all the tension, the young, naive eight-year-old witch believed she was doing something wonderful for her family when the cut Red Birthright Jewel appeared her hands after so long of being required to sit still in meditation. It was bad enough that there had long been whispers - in Sibylla's perspective - of her impure maternal bloodlines, that she wanted to do something particularly special for her mother and father. The manner in which the Darkness sang to her had a natural call that she sank down into it as far as she could until she passed by the White, the Yellow, Rose, Purple Dusk, the Opal, all of which would have been perfectly respectable gains for a little witchling. Indeed, as it crept toward the morning hours, she continued to follow that sweet, whispering voice down, so far down, until at the end of the ceremony, she had a Cut Red in her tiny fingertips.

Sibylla was sure that she was helping, even when her parents allied against each other, and began to cause problems for both their families, who were just desperate enough to plot to take Sibylla away from them, leaving an opening for others primarily interested in the trade of flesh. Her child mind could have never imagined that such a boon had woken a creature formed of little but greed and lust for power, very natural to Hayllian existence. She had been outside when her childhood home just outside of Cirta was blown up, the two factions of families having decided that they did not need either of Sibylla's parents and could simply take the girl from the rubble. Both of her other full siblings were of course, killed, their Jewels unable to protect them, and Sibylla's fear paired with her still very new skill in using her Red Birthright making her unable to save her family. She had saved herself, even though the reprieve was temporary.

Dirty and very much a target, Sibylla managed to walk partway to the city edges before she was snatched up by some slaver-catchers who had looted the remains of the house mere hours before for an extra turn of profit. They knew exactly what to say to keep Sibylla willing and compliant. In the passage of the time it took for them to drive in the coach to Draega, her three half-siblings were found and separated, one sold to the Coliseum, and the other two placed in difficult enough straights that they wouldn't have considered to try and find a half sister who was little more than a child their father chose to have on another woman. It took perhaps weeks for Sibylla to finally understand just precisely where she had ended up at a mere ten years old, with a collar around her neck, and her beautiful Red deprived of her save for very rare moments.

The girl went from tolerated privilege to cruelty it seemed almost overnight. Because she was often mouthy and recalcitrant in response to her plight, beatings were common because she couldn't understand why this new life was her own. The shift in her personality from a Blood Female child to a treasured Red Jewelled witch in training did not give her the immediate survival skills to avoid harm as a slave. It became normal as she grew from a pre-adolescent girl to one inching toward the age of Offering to feel bruises and a plethora of whip marks. Silence became the only way that Sibylla could keep herself from ending up simply killed. Since after all, there was little special about a little slave girl with a Red Jewel if she wasn't able to access it. Her soft skin and pampering became a memory that helped with coping with her new life.

In choosing to speak very little or only when spoken directly to, Sibylla found many things to help her. It meant that it was assumed after a time that she would obey, and the controls upon her servitude were lax enough that it almost felt like real living. Primarily, her jobs were varied with kitchen work, some limited hard labour. At rare times she was allowed to access its power, with the collar around her neck a reminder that if she tried anything, death would soon follow. The slavers that owned Sibylla were among the most well known, though she was a precious, hidden in the open secret for years.

She served water and food to Senators, Queens and traders alike, managing with the passage of her youngest years to grow adept with moving without anyone ever noticing she was there, perfectly graceful and silent. At least, until a party was thrown by some of the most well known political shakers. For some reason unknown still to her, Draco Tenebrius made a showing, and her seeing this shook something free out of Sibylla's adolescent mind. She served him a drink and spilled it accidentally. She dared to brush against the outer barriers of his mind with nothing more than a knock; Sibylla had been allowed access to her Red earlier that day and it hadn't yet been taken back away from her.

Thus came the discovery that a Red Birthright was a slave in Hayll, and while it wasn't necessarily a surprise, what was a big deal given some research that a Red Birthright of some Hundred Families lineage was a slave in Hayll. Later, after the party was over, Sibylla's mistress beat and whipped her until there did not appear a clear section of skin and muscle upon her body. Sibylla's chalice, however, had a few more cracks to add to her growing collection. Madness had begun to seem even safer than silence, so from this delicate, young age, the witch had already understood walking the Twisted Kingdom to in effect, save what strength and sanity she possessed.

Days passed with her in a fever state because the woman had overdone it, and finally a Healer was called in to assist. Some years passed, and all the while the girl was unaware that the Prince Tenebrius had been working to either steal or free her. In her dreams, she remembered his proud, elegant Hayllian face, one more small piece of the puzzle that had kept Sibylla from fully shattering into a thousand pieces. As such, Sibylla needed to wait for the perfect opportunity, which wasn't at all easy given her anger, and the abuse she had recently suffered for such a small matter.

It was either by happenstance or poorly timed mismanagement that the mistress of the house had in that time, gained a few too many enemies than she could afford, and was taken out by the fourth and most effective assassination attempt. Unknown of course to Sibylla was the hit being orchestrated by the Prince Tenebrius. Given that she had control of Sibylla's collar, and had died in her presence, just as Sybilla was going to attempt to break her collar due to being emotionally overwhelmed. Thankfully, there was one other slave in the room when the woman expired, and yelled at Sibylla to stop. An older man that had been a slave for a long time explained that she couldn't break the slave collar without risk to her mind and jewels, that doing so could burn up the Jewels, shatter their mind, both or worse, kill her.

Despite being horrified that someone had killed her Mistress before she could make the attempt, as mixed feelings about a seemingly evil person are always complex, after debating with herself decided to take the control ring out of the woman's dead fingers. The other slave told her that she should hurry, and as such, Sibylla ran from the gardens into the city of Draega, and knowing enough of it well, took refuge at a Priestess' temple. As she collapsed from exhaustion, malnutrition, psychological and physical torture the only name or word she would even say was 'Draco'. A contact from within the Temple for the Tenebrosi was the one that got word to the Grey Prince, though this agency was unknown to the young witch at the time. Sibylla was by then, fourteen instead of eleven, though she only looked perhaps ten at best.

As such, it was in this way that Prince Tenebrius rescued Sibylla from her plight, with an unexpected visit, and the memory of his strong, unshakable presence and the kind of person that Sibylla herself imagined that she could become. For months while she recovered in the Temple, he visited, even though Sibylla had fallen into a comatose state. It took a Healer to draw her out into a much safer Healing Sleep, also paid for by Draco himself. Only once it was deemed safe for Sibylla to be moved, and she woke, speaking his name one evening did the man, the hero, from her perspective, deem it safe for her to be moved and directly she was taken to none other than the Lady Lilith Cinerus.

Matters changed smoothly and shockingly for Sibylla then, even though it was one of the last times she saw the Prince consistently, she never once forgot him. Lilith, though unskilled in Mind Healing, saw to it that Sibylla relearned to speak by giving her something to do, to fight for while eventually paying for a Mind Healer that Sibylla didn't attempt to run from or panic with. It meant needing to restart her training from Basic Craft and Protocol. Lilith had Sibylla taken in as an official ward and became her Matron on the basis of her bloodline. Though none of this was explained to Sibylla at the time as to why it was the only way to effectively have her removed from the immense rosters of slaves in Hayll, due to Lilith's immense standing, in addition to her place in the Territory Court Third Circle.

For the first time in her life, truly, since being practically a baby, the young witch was free, or as free as a hidden Red Birthright in Hayll could ever be after the Purge given the immense loss of Jewels. The Lady made very, very clear there would be expectations of her, pride to follow, honour to always be considered. She was granted a false setting of a 'Birthright Green' as well as a cover story as an unfortunate yet gifted orphan at the time to avoid too many questions and told to be silent on the matter of her true Jewel strength. Without Lilith and Draco, she never would have relearned her sense of self, so for a time, Sibylla did exactly that. Once she was sixteen, she also began to receive the very beginnings of very delicate training in the Black Widow Craft from Lilith herself. In being rescued and following personal family tradition, Sibylla took both of her parents' surnames legally, by choice.

Through all of these riches placed into small, strong hands, it was Lilith's elder son, Jupiter, that responsible for restoring a sense of heart to Sibylla, as well as a true understanding of justice, and whom taught her that the depth of her rage, which tasted so nearly bottomless was natural, for who could understand that better than a Warlord Prince that had survived the Eyrien Occupation? Though the younger Half Eyrien brother, Gideon Cinerus, truly was intriguing especially due to Sibylla's own slightly "marred" bloodline, at best the pair managed only a few conversations before her interest was fully turned toward Jupiter as another measure of control.

The considerably older man Jupiter Cinerus in Draco's absence was able to pick up the slack and give the warmth and trust begun with her rescue. As such, in Faro at the Cinerus Estate with a clear routine of cool but persistent discipline from the Matron, with all the intensity a young, very Dark Jewelled witch could want or need from her household, Sibylla grew up. Though some deeper wounds in her chalice remained while most had been repaired, the emotional and physical care she received until the expected age approached for her Virgin Night and Offering healed much of the cause of those wounds, making stronger for it through time.

To Sibylla, it seemed of course only natural that Jupiter would attend her Virgin Night, due manipulation by Lilith that pushed Sibylla his direction to control her that she is still unaware of to this day. By this time, Prince Gideon did not tend to be a presence where she was in the Faro Estate due to his own duties at the Priestly Conclave. While she was certainly still curious about the Sapphire Warlord Prince Priest as any Dark Jewelled witch would be who was still among the living, given the disagreements between the two brothers, little to nothing developed as a result. It was explained to Sibylla (several times) that her partner would need to be Darker Jewelled than she was to protect her, which meant in truth, a Grey. It was a perfect ruse that she eventually accepted since her false Birthright appeared the equal of the elder living Prince Cinerus', and the younger Cinerus would have caused far too much tension.

As such, some months before the scheduled date, Lilith recalled Draco (from his then Tenebrosi mission, and Sibylla was still unaware of the T.I at this time) to attend to said concern. While Sibylla had occasionally seen the Prince on occasional visits, it had been years since she had been in his presence for an extended period of time. Due to the considerable risk, time was taken to warm her to the idea, as well as Draco's touch, both in a physical and mental sense due to her past trauma. Thus, by the time that Sibylla was nineteen, she was able and willing to see through the evening. While most young girls can account for a reasonable evening and introduction into the delicacies of the sensual among the Blood, Draco was almost religiously thorough. It made for a very unpleasant departure when he needed to return to the business of his career (as it was explained at the time to Sibylla) as she had remained in a desire and infatuated haze for weeks after her Virgin Night. She begged that he remain for her Offering as a compromise. She promised that it would not be a regret, and swore again to make her Matron proud.

An evening and a morning, like all Offerings. Any Offering she could gain would have been a blessing, was what she had been told, yet those words and the lack of pressure were what Sibylla needed to give everything she had to the task. As a slave, the Darkness had become a sweet refuge, and as such with the aid of a skilled Priestess, Sibylla sank into what felt like the only real home she ever had. There was no fear in the Darkness, only the Mother and the sense of rightness, of perfection, of every good dream and truth Sibylla had known.

From the true Red of her Birthright she fell gracefully into the Grey, found it comfortable, but it did not taste of home and freedom. So Sibylla kept sliding as the hours passed, to the pristine beauty of the Ebon Grey of each variety. Finally, she came to the Black just before the sun rose and felt her. Mother Night. She was sure of it, and stayed there, finding it whole, and perfectly sweet; strong and seemingly endless. Yet with that gift of the Uncut Black that appeared in her hands, came the whispers of responsibility. After all, Sibylla had seen many Hayllians misuse the power they possessed but also many use it well. Leaving the Ceremonial chamber, she presented the Lady Cinerus with the Jewel with a bow and a tearful thank you, even though she did not expect a warm response as it wasn't her way.  This too was cooly explained that it needed to be kept a secret. A false Offering was, therefore, the Red, a truth among the lies.

Of course, the gain of such potentially volatile power meant that her training began truly in earnest, after some rest and expenditure of a number of males put in her path by the Lady Cinerus to ease the way. With real, layered, true sensual confidence came greater ability to master the changes that slowly took place over the decades following with continuing and advanced Black Widow Caste training; by her thirtieth birthday, her snake tooth finally grew in. Sibylla began to research Black Widow Webs in earnest, finding the Queen's Gift to be the most fascinating of Craft application among the Blood as a whole that she could use her own to increase exponentially for the gain of the least prosperous.

Despite her gains, Sibylla did not forget her experiences as a slave, a pawn within her own family, how her mother's 'tainted' Tacean heritage was to those particular Hayllians, a mark of shame. Sibylla learned to control and care, all while the Lady Cinerus' masterful manipulations were something she missed the purpose of, even to the point of the woman pushing Jupiter in her path once again where she had been previously denied. The effect was not only gaining a lover, a friend but also, a precise deepening of the now Black Widow's loyalty toward the Lady Cinerus - all while the very occupied Prince Draco never remained too far from her thoughts.

Thus went the pattern of Sibylla's life after her Offering for several decades, until her sixtieth birthday. She was invited to serve, with Lilith's recommendation and directly under her command, in the Third Circle of the Cirta District Court. From that point, the trained Black Widow slowly rose in estimation. After approximately ten years spent in that Court, Sibylla rose upon her own merit to the First Circle. Following the end of her Contract with Cirta, Lilith made the arrangements for her to serve in the Territory Court. At that point in her life, Sibylla moved primarily to Draega from Faro.

Ever the overachiever in some ways, Sibylla opted service in the least of the Territory Court, slowly working her way up over a period of another ten years to the Fourth Circle, again directly under the Lady Cinerus' command (even though previously this had been technically unofficially). By that point, save for the nightmares she held her silence upon with everyone except for Prince Jupiter, Sibylla had the appearance of a woman that had been fully restored, with her former slavery a place in her past that almost made no difference. Everything had gone well, beautifully. The Lady enjoyed her place in the world, which of course made sense that someone from her past would try and nearly succeed in taking it from her.

On the way home from the Opera with a few acquaintances just past Sibylla's ninetieth birthday, her entourage of people was intercepted before they could arrive at the after party; all seven of them were killed as Sibylla froze due to her awareness that these were the same slavers that had her once before, minus one dead woman. For all her Jewels, power, training, that deeper fissure in her Chalice held her still, panicked and terrified. The collar was snapped around her neck and only did that sound pull the Black Widow out of her haze of fear. Her captor was none other than the widower of the Mistress she had before, and over a series of weeks, he carved into her flesh so that she wouldn't forget what he thought of her, taking a whip to her back and damned near beating Sibylla to the bone.

Hope became a thing of the past once again, while depression sank into the Black Widow's mind. Time passed, while it seemed there was little trace of her for nearly three months which was long for the Iarvis to lose track of an asset with a Black Offering, though accomplished by almost constantly moving Sibylla around. It was a considerably big deal, not to speak of insanely dangerous for a member of the Territory Court to be snatched by a slaver of any reputation. This capture had been deeply personal revenge and took decades to plan.

Everyone has a breaking point under torture regardless of the type whether they either snap or die. Sibylla had sworn to herself that she wouldn't die, so she began to make friends with the other slaves, even took one as a lover to soften the way she was regarded. It was the first time, though would not become the last in which the trained Black Widow would take on a role to defend her life. She began to plot ways to get free until the man that was her captor decided that she would service him and in return, he'd give the use of her Jewels for a week.

That was her breaking point, first, he knew her secret against her will, so it meant he had to die. Second, this creature thinking he could paw her was a mistake. Having recalled the immense pain of the collar and trying to avoid a more risky situation, Sibylla instead fought to get the drop on her captor, crushing his hand to keep him from activating the control ring by slamming his fingers in a desk drawer. She then attempted to strangle her captor with a hanging silk curtain to unconsciousness while they fought over her Jewels. Barely managing to obtain the near emptied Red, Sibylla called upon her Black hidden in a second drawer in the room. Determined, enraged, and desperate, the Black Widow used it to practically skin the man that had captured her, once more repeating history. Removing the controlling ring for the slave collar from his dead hands was a true victory, and restored much of the woman's battered confidence.

Unfortunately, the resulting blast of power that had been fueled by so much anger, and pain, killed not only all of those present as well as her target, but also the slave she had taken as a lover, a Warlord whom she had grown deeply attached to. Sibylla dropped to her knees in shock, grief, and exhaustion, holding that single body close. Escape, you have freed me, he'd said with his last breath with which she also learned his name: Drutus. Sibylla swore not to forget him, but then was distinctly aware she had an entire household of guards to get through, and while she wore the Black, she hadn't trained in heavy combat in such a fashion that escaping would be easy or short, nor had it been easy to use her Jewels through the immense pain of the collar.

So over a series of several days, she hid and picked off her opponents while binding the wounds she'd taken with scraps from her attire. The use of the Black, plenty wouldn't necessarily have noticed, but Endevar Ranosi did, given that he possessed one. His appearance was the one thing she'd needed, this man that she had met once or twice at the occasional party and gathering at Court, known to her originally as Gabriel. In helping considerably to free Sibylla for real, which meant killing literally everyone that wasn't a slave and even some of the slaves that were too stupid not to defend their "master", he told her his story. Due to her previous untapped curiosity of Gideon Cinerus, it was a thousand times easier for the Hayllian trained Black Widow to accept his hidden Eyrien heritage.

Though it was such a brief meeting, they bonded as cautious comrades given his real heritage, and she swore to keep it to herself, leaving the villa outside of Draega in flames, making sure the entire place burned to the ground before she waited for Prince Ranosi to depart safely, and then, with the last of her strength, reached out mentally for the other man that would be certain to smooth over the mess she'd created: Jupiter Cinerus. Handing him the proofs of her experience, she'd dragged the body of the man that had captured her, and kept one slave to corroborate her story.

A political mess was turned into a boon for the family Cinerus, and a delicate piece of a catalyst for the Rebellion, though at the time, Sibylla had no idea. It was with her return, that the Lady Lilith after completely disintegrating the remains of that particular slaving operation as her retribution, gave Sibylla a choice, due to her experiences, and wholeheartedly, she accepted joining the Tenebrosi Iarvis and commenced her training. It was easy to accept, after everything she had been through, once more because of one vile man's greed. Thus, after her recovery once more, which was accomplished in part with a prodigious amount of sex, fighting training, a tattoo to hide the horror of her back.

As such, due Sibylla's training with the Tenebrosi Iarvis, she was almost entirely cloistered away within the libraries and given lodging there instead of Draega at large, being timed with the ending of her contract with the Territory Court for service. With Sibylla's one hundredth name day and the completion of ten full years of training among the incredibly vast libraries of the Iarvis, she has received her name as a member of the Iarvis. Illuricae, and her beautiful mask to mark her place gained as one of the true protectors of Hayll. Achievements well above and beyond the Jewels she possesses, but a tool among them all the same.

Like Lilith, like Indomitus, through her suffering, Sibylla believes that Hayll needs to become more, and if it has to be through fire and flames, so be it. Loyalty the young woman possesses is to Hayll, fully. That said, she would be willing to destroy it to offer rebirth even more completely than Witch herself had if possible, to save her home. Now, she has, after a further two years training been assigned to go on a complex mission to Dene Nehele to ensure it remains within Hayllian influence. It is here in the summer of 193 where the identity of an old flame has been revealed to her in a way that Sibylla would have never expected. Draco Tenebrius too was Tenebrosi Iarvis. It was a difference that recoloured her entire opinion of the sometimes present man that had originally saved her life. The words Indomitus spoke still haunted Sibylla even as she understood her mission was truly unavoidable, Watch him and make sure he stays on mission, or break him of his Jewels and bring him to me for his failure.

Could she even really do it?

    Show Us What You've Got

Character in Play: He left. While Sibylla had understood it was necessary, duty demanded it, none of these facts had anything to do with the way the heart chose to move. Long black hair streamed out around her hips, blowing in the wind, while the black and red spider silk dress clung to every delicate curve. The balcony was beautiful; of course, it was, everything in the Lady Cinerus' home in Faro, one of many, no doubt as was suitable for a woman of her calibre, but Sibylla barely could see any of it through her tears. Slender arms curled around her waist and she shivered. The witch smothered a keening, unhappy sound. It wasn't enough.

She'd had half a thousand things to say, still, before he left again. But a Grey Jewelled Prince surely had better things to do than tend to a twenty-year-old girl after her Offering. More weighty matters than her fear and worries. She was proud, everyone had been, and the party was still going. Sibylla, however, had felt suffocated the minute she could no longer easily sense Prince Tenebrius' presence. Despite her immense stubbornness, the trained Widow understood that considerable time and care had been devoted to her needs, and she had flat out wanted for nothing.

So, Sibylla had waited until every guest had been clearly attended to before she made her escape outside. It was the best one could get, and it took several deep breaths not to feel as though the world had not changed completely. During the ritual, the witch had felt one and pure, almost as if Mother Night herself had pressed a kiss to her brow and said: live, be. Now, she saw how more people looked at her with surprise, uncertainty, what they might get out of what she possessed, and that was even with a false 'Red Birthright'. With a whisper of power from her Red still heavy enough to be noticed by anyone close to her, as the idea of using a small amount of the Black was too new as to be remotely possible, she called in a slender, beautiful black box and opened it.

There it lay on a bed of golden silk. An Uncut Black Jewel. Hers. Gently, she ran her fingers over it, before the sound of footsteps caused Sibylla to turn her head and she hid the Jewel from sight. A tiny smile curved her lips before she was overwhelmed with emotion. Jupiter was still here, had not left. Taking a deep breath, the witch offered an elegant curtsey; she might have been born with Darker Jewels in truth, but for Caste, the Warlord Prince outranked her and was her elder several times over. Sibylla had been told to say nothing, to no one, but how could Jupiter of all people not be safe? She decided later, she'd explain and hopefully, he would keep her secret so that she didn't have to do it alone.

"Prince Cinerus," she whispered. "I trust you have enjoyed the gathering," Sibylla murmured, suddenly having considerable difficulty drawing in an even, steady breath. She had wanted him with the youth of a young woman discovering herself but had been denied for her own safety and sanity. He was stunning to look at, they both were; Sibylla knew herself prepared for life and passion, at least for its beginnings and to learn. There was so much to learn. All of them might have been superior to her, but at the same time, she could learn so much. A blush warmed the young woman's cheeks, and she smiled because it felt better than any other option.

"Will you stay with me, tonight?"

While a piece of her wanted to cry, Sibylla had not often wept since she was a little girl, and she couldn't imagine Prince Draco would want her to waste the time doing so. No, instead, she would make sure if she ever saw him again anytime soon, that his rescuing her would be worth the time once spent, years ago. No, neither man or any of the people she valued would want to see her sad on such a night.

    "Please?"

The witch vanished the case with her Offering Jewel inside. It would not be required for what she intended for now, while the young woman hoped the controlled gleam in the Warlord Prince's eyes matched her thoughts, and could for a time, make her focus elsewhere.

    Petitions (if any): Yes.

Jewel Rank Requesting: Rolled Red to Black

Reasons For Requesting this Jewel Set: I want to use the Dark Ally Roll on Draco Tenebrius' character sheet spanning plots in Dene Nehele and Hayll for Sibylla. Without the Red to Black Jewel set, the character would be unable to serve as a potential threat to Prince Draco as demanded by Lilith. Her background and power lend her to be used in Lilith's machinations rather than questioning orders.

Mentions in threads thus far: While the whole world dies.

    Plans for this Character:

Sibylla will work with Rilandra Vlas to accomplish improvements to the land health of Dene Nehele for planting foodstuffs. She will assist the Queens to Gift the land more efficiently to help this process. Sibylla will serve in one of the Courts of Dene Nehele. Monitoring Prince Draco's activities are her purpose while ensuring Hayllian interests continues. It is during this time in Spring/Summer 193 that her Black Jewel will be revealed finally and be public knowledge.

Sibylla is intended to serve as both a heel and a face character because Sibylla's loyalties are to Hayll. With relationships or allies gained, maintaining her cover, short-lived friends, as well as showcasing Hayll as a steady and good ally for Dene Nehele is the goal without compromising the mission. Each character played in the DN Territory Triangle were discussed with their writers to avoid plotting overlaps. Conversations of plotting regarding the security of the territory in the question of a foreigner Black Jewel entering DN with Reid, Bowie, and Gavin, and Rated Em due to their respective character ties (Riley's Triangle, Head of the Hourglass) in Dene Nehele.
