Appearance
Play By: David Wenham
Distinguishing Features: Aether has a limp, the cause of which is evident when one gets a look at his right leg. A twist in the joint of his knee; along with scars from both the injury and amateur Healing he had received, left his skin covered in a long jagged scar.

Personality

Personality: Tall and atheltic, Aether has an odd blend of being able to command attention and blend into the crowd. He has bright eyes, which regard you with a keen intellect and a mischevious smile behind them; and a mess of hair that is often times style or left to it's own devices. He is rarely found sporting the same type of clothes, instead grabbing whatever moves him at the time. He is lucky enough that he can pull of scruffy one day, but be dressed to the nines the next.

Driven is a word that comes to mind when many are asked to describe Aether. He is an early riser, and known to work by Witchlight well into the evening. He takes his tasks seriously, and has a intelligent, keen mind that can quickly become consumed by tasks. But he also learned after his injury that balance is key, and to that end he has learned to appreciate the comforts and successes he has earned. Aether is generous, kind and fair, although he is stern to those who fall short. As most men who drive themselves hard, he has little tolerance for weakness or laziness, although he is well known to the children as he enjoys spoiling them occasionally. He is a conversationalist, and will enjoy a good glass of wine or meal with friends, whittling away the night with gossip and laughter as well.

Aether is also a man who has learned through past actions to regret. He has treated others unfairly, including coming close to destroying a good woman through his own passionate anger and violence. This is a lesson he took to heart, and he is someone who weighs his words carefully. Aether channels his aggression and violence into the hunt, and his crafting. His injury allows less swordplay than he would like, but he does push himself there as well. He is determined to master the darker portions of his nature, and is careful to avoid drinking to excess, along with the other more nefarious pastimes many partake of.

Likes:
  • 1 Music. -Music soothes the savage beast, or so they say. Aether has always found that he enjoys music, both playing his own and enjoying the work of those who are truly talented. The order and rhythm of many fine pieces appeal to his Princely intellect, and he is always working to perfect his own skills.
  • 2 Hunting. - Aether has grown to love hunting, a relatively newer skill picked up out of necessity as Rockwood is much more isolated and rural than where he grew up. His first kill sparked a savage glee in him, stroking instincts that had only previously been nurtured in swordplay. Stalking, figuring out your preys mind, even the final fierce struggle gives him a sense of wildness and communion with the land that he loves.
  • 3 Cooking. When you hunt, you make use of the animal or you are little better than a monster. That was the lesson he learned from the Xander Miles, the Forester who taught him to hunt. After learning to stew, roast and smoke the meat, Aether found he enjoyed the simple pleasures of cooking. With the right focus to detail, cooking can woo a woman, soften a heart or even bring pleasure to friends.
Dislikes:
  • 1 Greed. -There is little about many of the Aristos that he respects, and the Greed so many show is their least attractive feature. When the Darkness has blessed so many with gifts and strength that could be put to use, it galls him to see anyone hording wealth or talent. And the abuse, hoarding of Queens common to the Aristo is especially vile.
  • 2 Loss of Control. Aether knows that many of the Blood are ruled by their passions. Indeed, he himself has lived with the passions of a Prince. But the loss of control, the inability to stop himself if he pushes past the killing edge, reminds him all to well of the Rut, and the terrible consequences of it.
  • 3 Ignorance. -With centuries of history, and all the learning available to those of the Blood, Aether cannot abide with those who would rather live in ignorance. He is constantly working to improve himself, and to help others do the same; those who are content to wallow in their ignorance earn little but disdain from Aether.
Fears:
  • 1 Making no difference. With his intellect and skills, Aether has long felt that the chance to do something great was within his grasp. His physical disability stymied him for awhile as he fought to overcome the injury, but it left him more determined as a result. If he lives 100 years or if he lives only 50, he hopes to leave the world better for his presence.
  • 2 Destitution. Aether grew up among a poor family, and spent much of his life watching as the gap between his family and the Aristos around them grew ever larger. He had some fortune with the gift of his Caste, the keen mind and ability to help his mother augment what little they had. But he has forged a life for himself, and is loath to ever return to the nights of hunger and fear that shaped him.
  • 3 Corruption. Power corrupts, anyone who has seen the Aristos or even the Guilds can see that. Once someone has their hands on the levers of Power, no one wants to let go. But with the court he serves now, with the Queen and her view of the future, Aether can see the chance for something better. And he worries that the hardships in his past, and the bitterness he occasionally drinks from those memories, would tempt him to a corrupt path.
Craft Strengths:
  • 1 Efficiency. Aether learned at a young age to make due with less. And this only became more of a strength as he grew into the Prince Caste. He was always looking for advantages, ways to press an opponent to move around an advantage, and over time he became adapt at using his craft to help him do so. Since injuring his leg, he has also perfected his skills at Efficiency, using his mind to help offset his own limitations.
  • 2 Shielding: In the rough wilds and the rough streets, being able to protect yourself is a must. After he was injured, he knew there would be those who would see him as a target, or seek to prove themselves by testing him, and so he worked diligently with shields until they became one of his strongest Craft abilities.
Craft Weaknesses:
  • 1 Compulsion Craft. Aether finds Compulsion Craft disdainful, and has shown almost no true ability for it. He struggled with it as part of his training, but when it became apparent that he would never progress beyond a rudimentary ability; it was decided he would focus his energy elsewhere
  • 2 Passing through Objects. Aether isn't really sure why the passage through walls and other objects is all but impossible for him. Still, he has never cared much for skulking about, and the fact he has too use the front door simply means he has to charm his way in.
Life Story

Family:
Mother: Egwene Forsyth - White - Tiger Eye Witch,  Age 60 (132 AP)
Father Aegon Forsyth Summer Sky - Purple Dusk Warlord Prince (deceased)
Siblings: Maren Forsyth 30 Tiger Eye - Purple Dusk Priestess (born 164 AP)
Owain Forsyth White - Tiger Eye Warlord (deceased)

History:
When he made his Offering, and returned with an Opal, it was decided that he would attempt to serve in the Court. With many other young men competing for the same honour, Aether eventually realized that there was as much money to be made serving the Aristo families as the Queen.

Removing himself from one competition, increased his standing in the other circles, and if he had to endure the sneers from those he served, he would. He worked diligently, helping to offset the often dangerous spending habits of the family he worked for, and carfeully helped to nurture a few of their more far flung holdings.

It was then that his sister made her own offering, and also returned with a darker jewel. This helped ease her way into the training required to further her calling as a Priestess, and Aether did what he could to aid her in the expenses. In fact, it was on just such an errand that he was injured.

Convinced an estate steward was skimming from the harvest, hiding the crop for his own use or even mismanaging the land, Aether took the task of correcting the problem on himself. With permission from the head of the family, Aether took a carriage to the estate in question, his brother coming along for the ride as a chance to learn.

One their way, the carriage was attacked by outraged Landen. The steward had been wringing them dry, keeping much of the extra for himself. The rest had been squandered or left to rot as the steward was often drunk, and cared little for the families who actually worked the land. The sight of another carriage arriving, with the feasting and carousing the Landen expected had set a torch to the tinder. During the attack, Aether realized he had let much of his combat skills go to seed, and with the press of bodies and chaos of the fighting, he was too injured to prevent the death of his brother.

Aether awoke in bed, screaming in agony as the stewards daughter did her best to repair his leg. Untrained, and unsure of herself she likely caused more harm than good, but at least the limb never grew infected, nor did it have to be removed like others Aether had known.

Sick with fear, and guilt the steward put up little fight as Aether went about fixing many of the issues. A distant relation, the steward had been sent away from the city where he would cause little embarrasement, and Aether soon grew disgusted with the man's wasteful ways.

Over several years, Aether slowly turned the estate around, and enjoyed a small romance with the stewards daughter Moira. She was a lovely girl, pleasant and reserved, with little of her fathers greed. She was sheltered and naive though, although Aether cared little at the time. Their dalliances might have led to more though, if it were not for the Rut.

Aether knew of the Rut, his own father being a Warlord Prince, Aether had been forced to stay with family friends when it struck his own father. However as a Prince, he had been distracted and too cavalier about the possibility to prepare for it, or watch the signs.

He recalls little from the Rut, but he does recall the blood and Moira screaming. He had struck her father when the man tried to stand between them, and later he heard the first time he took Moira had been in the fields, with all to see. The violence and aggression that came out of him that time, and the sheer savagery in which he used Moira broke the naivety in her.

Disgusted, angry and ashamed, he knew that while there was nothing that could legally be done because of the Rut; the Aristo would not take the insult lightly. Cashing out his ledgers and banknotes, he took to the countryside to avoid the entanglements and anger of Moira's Uncle.

He later learned that though they were angered, the wealth he had earned them offset the rough treatment of a minor niece of no real strength or talent. Still by the time he learned he need not fear knives in the night, he had grown to love the countryside. Grown to love the clean air, and simpler pace to life.

Character in Play:
Darkness give me strength, Aether thought to himself as he resisted the urge to pinch his nose. The man had clearly partaken early, the smell of sour wine on his breath was enough to make Aether nauseous

“I don’t care how many times you complain, nor do I care about the time it is going to take you. I told you to open those bundles, and show me the linens. If you think I am about to pay you sight unseen, well that is your problem for not knowing who you are dealing with,” Aether said with a shrug.

The carter was sweating, his shirt greasy and ill fitting but Aether knew that was likely from the road, and did his best not to judge the man by the stains of travel. No his reservations stemmed more from the condition of the cart itself; every where Aether looked he saw signs of neglect. The tack was cracking and dried out from elements, rust on the wheel hubs that could easily cause a break on the rough mountain roads.

“Enough of this, I grow weary of lies,” Aether said as he called upon his Craft to lift a heavy bundle of linens out of the wagon. Even as the other man protested the treatment, Aether noticed the merchant refused to stop him, and as he deftly unwove the bundle he found what he had suspected.

Stained and torn linen lay in the middle, hidden underneath the pristine outer layers. If he had bought this wagon load without checking, there would have been yards of waste. An expense that could be afforded, the merchant had reasoned.

His eyes growing cold, and a hint of menance creeped into his voice as he turned to the merchant, “You not only tried to cheat me, you would dare try to cheat the woman I serve? I give you one afternoon to correct this error. You will deliver to me only the proper linen, and I will pay for that amount. Try to sneak even a single warped thread past me, and I will have the constable slap you in irons,” Aether said, using his height and presence to let the merchant know he was in earnest.
