Distinguishing Features: Unlike her parents and siblings, Druid has the snowy coloring of a true Dea al Mon aristo. This is weird, because she is definitely not an aristocrat.

    Personality

    Personality:
There are certain expectations put upon women who are born with a Healer's Caste. A Healer should be stubborn, nurturing, and self-sacrificing. Druid Errathel is a Healer par excellence.

Like many Healers, she is an oasis of calm in a world beset by turbulence and passion. It is incredibly difficult to rile her, to the point where she seems cold to people she doesn't know. She doesn't talk much in groups, and probably talks less in one-on-one conversation, preferring to be a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. She gives good advice, when she thinks it has merit and when asked, but doesn't go out of her way to offer it. Druid has a good heart, but her mouth tends to say things before her brain catches up with her, and the things she thinks are often more cruel than she wants them to be. To avoid hurting others, she prefers to stay silent.

Her silence tends to shoot her in the foot more often than not. Many people think that Druid is stupid or wishy-washy or both, attributing her silence to a lack of anything to say or an unwillingness to commit. Druid is neither stupid nor wishy-washy, and like any Healer she is in fact incredibly stubborn. The fact that she won't settle in for a good old-fashioned shouting match doesn't mean she isn't going to ignore any objections someone makes to pursue a path that she thinks is best. Druid is a firm adherent to the Healer's philosophy of do no harm but take no shit and will not hesitate to put her life on the line for people she loves.

Druid despises conflict of all sorts, though she will (as previously noted) step up to that line as required in defense of the people she cares for. She is most talkative when her friends are arguing, an event which tends to occur pretty often around her non-traditional Queen. Rather than adding her voice and shouting one party down, Druid is the first to try to mediate between the disparate factions to reach an agreeable compromise. If she has to yell to be heard, then she will, but she'd really prefer not to.

    Likes:
    • Singing - Druid doesn't like listening to other people sing particularly, but she loves to sing herself. She has a beautiful voice and a prodigious memory for old songs that she takes out and exercises at every opportunity, particularly when alone or busy working. If Druid isn't sitting in stoic silence, she's probably singing to herself.
    • Dancing - Druid is just as active as her peers, but rather than shedding her energy into violence or sex she prefers to dance. Something about the flow of the motions pleases her much more than sparring or fighting, though some of the steps are similar. It is a peaceful, cooperative hobby even when it is fast-paced and decisive.
    • Hot drinks - Nothing puts a bookend on her day like a nice hot drink and a seat under the stars. Druid won't sleep without a cup of hot tea, even out in the field.
    Dislikes:
    • Fighting - Druid can't stand when people are arguing. She values harmony and peace more than anything--stress is proven to make one more likely to become ill after all--and obviously shouting at other people is more stress than is healthy. Druid would prefer everyone resolved their differences through quiet, measured discourse while respecting the opinions of others than pursuing being right at all costs.
    • Slobbiness - Druid isn't a neat freak. Her little apartment is not precisely clean, but she differentiates between a lived-in space and a dump. Piles of dishes or dirty bandages set her teeth on edge, and she gets snippy when someone wears the same outfit for multiple days in a row. She will do your laundry for you if she has to. She doesn't want to, but she will.
    • The Red Cloaks - Virtuosa admires the women's guard and wishes she could have served, but her time in the Red Cloaks was one of the most miserable periods of Druid's life. It takes a lot of effort to resist telling Virtuosa exactly how shitty actually being in the Red Cloaks is: all the drills, all the constant watching, all the responsibility. Nobody wants to get up before dawn even pretends to come just to run in a giant circle and hit other people with sticks, but that's pretty much what the Red Cloaks do when they aren't fighting and dying.
    Fears:
    • Failure - Druid did her time in the Red Cloaks, and during her service several of her comrades died despite her best efforts to save them. Since leaving the service of the Territory, Druid has been blessed to only face natural deaths among her patients as a healer: illness and old age, mostly. It doesn't bother her overmuch to lose a patient to an illness or old age or something natural, but every person in her care that dies in combat is an unreasonably great blow to Druid's self-esteem. She should be good enough to save them... but she isn't always.
    • Spirits - She really doesn't want to believe in a world where everything is alive and out to get her. Druid is familiar with the stories about how the Dea al Mon came to be, but she sees no beauty in a great dragon choosing the names of its fragile spawn. With the claims that the Brood are returning to nature, becoming more of what the Dea al Mon "should be," she is becoming steadily more frightened of the possibility that the forest is alive and actually siding with the Brood.
    • Being called back to service - Druid has done her time in the Red Cloaks, and she wants that to be all. With no standing contract with a Court, she fears that--in the event of a greater offensive from the Brood--she will be called back to service, where she will have the honor of watching all of her friends die despite her best attempts to save them.
    Craft Strengths:
    • Battlefield/Triage Healing - In a combat situation, there's no better Healer to have on your side than Druid. Over her five years of service, she practiced and made considerable strides towards perfecting her skills at triaging and containing injuries. It takes Druid about half the time it should to get someone back up on their feet. She doesn't fully heal them, mind: she can quickly take a moderate wound back to a light one, or a severe one to a moderate one, but actually fixing the problem is not something she really worries about when triaging.
    • Item Enhancement - Druid is used to having to spread her Healing attentions out among a large group. As such, when she has down time, she makes enchanted bandages that serve to keep a wound clean and assist in preventing infection. Each roll of bandages can only be used once before it has to be re-spelled; when she needs to empty her Jewels, she tends to pour her power into these bandages.
    Craft Weaknesses:
    • Power Bolts - Druid can fight, but she's very poor at throwing her Jeweled strength at range. Her spellwork has to be done with her hands with a few inches of her patient or target, and even then it's best if she's actually touching them. Outright projecting her power over multiple feet and intending physical harm with it is downright beyond her.
    • Physical Enhancement - Druid is small, and not very strong. She's more of a glass cannon than anything else. But despite her knowledge of how the body works, she has never been able to master using her Jewels to give her physical strength, speed, or endurance a boost. Because of this, she has to drag her fallen comrades out of combat using what physical strength she already has, which isn't much. When in a fight with the (generally) physically superior Brood, she has a significant disadvantage in strength and weight.
    Life Story

    Family:
Mother: Vate Errathel, Blood female, 133
Father: Bard Errathel, Blood male, 138
Brother: Prophet Errathel, Descent Yellow Warlord, 71
Brother: Inspire Errathel, Descent White Warlord, 55
Brother: Arcane Errathel, Birthright Summer Sky Warlord, 15

    History:
Druid Errathel was born in 165AP, third of four children. She was immediately set apart from her dark-haired family by the snowy hair on her head and the unmistakeable psychic scent of her Healer's caste. While her mother claims that Druid is her husband's child and he has been given paternity rights, the suspicion of illegitimacy has followed Druid throughout her life.

Her Summer Sky in 173AP was an unexpected treasure, particularly in the light of her parents' lack of Jewels. She attended her Healing lessons and was not particularly impressive among the others of her class; Druid ran solidly middle-of-the-pack. Her attention was elsewhere. Her family hailed from the northern edges of Kassel, and Druid could think of little except the skirmishes that came closer and closer to her family home. Her mother eventually chose to relocate, and they moved to Celarith, the capital of Esgarth, when Druid was seventeen.

She met Virtuosa Ilion for the first time in 183AP. Druid's elder brother Inspire had taken up a role working for Ardent Ancalima, and Druid meant to meet her brother for lunch that day. Instead, she met fifteen-year-old Virtuosa. Rather than having lunch with her brother she had lunch with her new Queen instead. They forged a friendship based on a mutual hatred of the Brood, one which persisted even after Druid left to serve her five years in the Red Cloaks.

Druid despised serving in the Red Cloaks. Being a Healer didn't make her a natural pacifist, but it did make each death in her unit--and there were a few, as Druid was posted just south of the border between Esgarth and Kassel--feel like a personal failure. She was a loyal soldier and performed her duty, but in her heart Druid counted down the days until her contract was up and she could go home.

There was never any doubt that she would join Virtuosa upon her return to Esgarth. Though there was little Druid wanted to do less than actually seek out fights, she felt honor-bound to support Virtuosa. After all, a Healer would be an important necessity for any sort of combat-focused Court. Druid holds no official position with the Court of Esgarth. She works at a clinic in Celarith during the day, but when her Queen calls, she answers.

    Character in Play:
There was a lot to love about living outside the military. Druid worked where she wanted, now, which meant she got up when she wanted, ate whatever she wanted for breakfast, and only ran several miles before dawn if she was trying to get home after attending a party or a bar crawl with her fellow Healers. (She never rode the Winds when she'd been drinking. That was a terrible idea and she discouraged it in all cases.) Cases of violent death were few and far between, and where she did encounter someone with a mortal wound she almost always had the attention and energy to save them. It was miles better than her years of service among the Red Cloaks, and she wouldn't have her life arranged any differently.

Having said as much, the first thing Druid heard when she woke up on one of her days off was a nudge from another member of Virtuosa's little not-Court telling her to get out of bed and get dressed because they were going on an adventure. She thought about throwing the empty glass on her bedside table at the wall to express exactly how annoyed that idea made her, but in the end resigned herself to doing exactly as asked. It would be just her luck that her dear friend idolized the military might of the Red Cloaks and the Ebon Guard, and that the members of her Court continued to trend towards those who had a gift for violence. Druid herself was not such a one, though she acquitted herself well with her weaponry.

It was tempting to stay home. With all things being equal, Druid choosing to stay home might convince Virtuosa to remain home as well (she thought, pulling on her leggings) but on the off chance that Virtuosa decided it was more important to go off and investigate whatever needed investigating and actually found something, it would behoove Druid to be present...

Virtuosa was a strong Queen, and Druid's good friend, probably even one of her best friends, though they didn't see each other everyday. She wanted nothing but the best for the Purple Dusk Queen. And unfortunately, that meant getting up at--she looked out the window--the rosy-cheeked ass-crack of dawn to go galumph about in the woods.

"The things I do for love," said Druid to herself in the mirror, and she went about her day.
