Character Bandwidths
« on: Aug 19, 14, 01:35:49 PM »
Quote from: hear ye, hear ye!
hi bloodrites!

i have characters that are about to hit the chopping block so unless i can get myself excited for characters with some plots and actual story arcs (both for now and for the future) i am going to let them go (in which case they shall be written out in a manner that will hopefully minimize any effects their absence might potentially cause).  ideally, only those with strong interest and enough going on to sustain muses will be kept.  if none of these fit that shoe, i am not above letting them all go and contemplating a fresh start.

plot free for all! anything goes!  they could be murdered, enslaved, kidnapped, broken, inflicted with terrible wounds or illnesses, seduced (or they can totally seduce too), fall in love, be betrayed (or betray others!) and obviously if we can figure out a way, they can go and move anywhere, even between realms if need be.

this will probably last for around a month (aka, i will buy one round of waivers) to see if there is any interest or plots that can be cultivated.  if not, then next month i will go around writing characters out.

I'm still really keen to write with Caoilain! We should catch up with Torcan and Loreniel plots, etc.

Email sent for Caoilainn.

As for Myrna, I still owe you many words if you were interested. And from what Phe gave me for her latest update she's still keen to bring back Blodwen :)

I would love to keep Myrna (really, I would, I adore writing her so much it hurts).

But if you and Phe aren't up for writing Kirtan/Wen words for her right now, I am thinking about letting her go if she has nothing else to do, since Kirtan and Wen words can still happen with or without her.

PSA:  I will also do my best to close out any existing threads as part of the write out process for dropped characters.

Makes sense for Myrna, maybe when Phe brings back Wen we can revisit? Assuming that you don't lose muse all together when a character goes inactive, of course :)

I kind of am. >^<

I mean I am happy to rehome Myrna, plot new things with new people and possibly relocate her for any number of reasons if that will get her some plots finally

If Phe isn't taking Wen back, can we NPC her so we aren't stuck in a perpetual limbo of paralysis, unable to do or write a single word?  I would just like some clarity so I'm not eternally dangling on this plot hook...

Definitely. I'm happy to reach out to Phe and get her approval for that! Want me to go ahead? If we even have questions on 'how would Wen react' Phe would definitely give input, as she's done that for me with other characters.

HI GUYS.

Here's an update!  Safe characters have at least one subplot, but ideally I'd prefer two or three, if not MORE.

Arcadian (1)
Ghanima (2)
Zephyr (2)

The following characters have tentative subplots, or are in the midst of discussion of them.
Sera (~1?)
Myrna (~1?)
Elua (~1?)
Ingjard (~1?)
Evette (~1?)

I would also DESPERATELY love to write with Yuki.  Just saying.

Update #2.

Okay guys.

I think what I am going to do is pick just 3 characters to focus on right now.  Just.  Three.  I'll keep saving the rest, in case anyone wants to write with them, but having so many ghosts running around is making me sad and stressed out, neither of which I can really afford impinging on my mental state.  If you have pressing need for anyone, please let me know and I would be ecstatic to get some action going.  Or even a lukewarm interest/desire to write with me, I implore you.  Hit.  Me.  Up.

Currently, these are the three:

1  Evette.
2  Serafina.
3  And a rotating third slot for whatever the muse desires.

I don't want this to be a surprise or an unpleasant shock to anyone, so to be perfectly transparent, I will be reconsidering my roster year-end and it is very, very possible I will drop characters because they make me more sad than they do happy.  If I drop anyone, I promise to write them out gracefully so there are no obstacles for you moving forward, but I do not foresee myself putting any of them up for adoption.

I still love everyone loads and loads and loads, and that's probably why I feel so sad, since the more I love everyone, the sadder I feel and I'm not really making sense right now, but I just want to be happy on BR again.  Life is made of ups and downs, so fingers crossed that this is another down before the next up.

Thank you everyone for all the good memories, the patience, the understanding, and the willingness to listen.  I truly adore you all and this is no reflection on you, as much as it is on me and my flaws.  Moving forward I will be more cognizant of them and try not to overreach.

Ultimately you need to do what makes you happy, Viv! I learned that lesson some time ago.. though I still carry a heavy roster, I had a huge house clearing a few years back and it was satisfying. I'll miss your characters hugely but understand that sometimes the muse just doesn't fit anymore or provide the satisfaction that you require. I'm especially sad about Caoilainn, whom I adore but haven't been able to meet your plot needs with unfortunately :( And Myrna because all the feels and such. I know I've dropped the ball with Kirtan but had high hopes with Phe and Wen back that the old feels plots could be rekindled, and with Brogan coming to Wen's Court. But I respect your decision <3

Well, that's why the third slot is "whatever the muse wants," in case awesome stuff like Wen's return and Brogan's arrival and what not does happen!

So... if it's something you want, do keep in mind I'll be saving characters until January and basically the next three months will be to help me evaluate who I keep.

Nothing is definite yet, but I do know that I intend to get my roster to somewhere around 5 or less for the new year.  I'd like to think of it as some long over due cleansing to help me really focus and be a strong, contributing member again.  <3

*is late to the party*

Wen is back! I would love to write with Myrna. And Kirtan. And both. And just, all the Wen words.

I'm not sure who's turn it is in the Kirtan/Wen/Myrna wedding day thread (although, it's probably mine...) and I would love to talk about what is going on NAO and figure out the logistics of what Wen knows and doesn't and where everything is at. I'll start an email thingee.

Also! Ada and Riley need to have words. WORDS.
