Wanted ads are here.

I really want the Unchained to work together cooperatively, so I thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread where we can hash out personalities/driving goals.

Silver is a 400ish year old Healer who suffered through alot of abuse and enslavement when younger, and has been hardened by it. She's hopped around all over both realms in the time since, so she could have met/picked up the other gang members almost anywhere. (Though short-lived members probably only in Kaeleer.)

She has a personal vendetta against slavers and of late has been working to help free individual people in LT from slave collars by whatever means necessary. At the beginning of play she'll be returning from Raej, where she took a collared person for the sake of having a new control ring made, since their original one was lost. She's been there for a few months on that errand, so the other members of the gang could have been working on their own things in the meantime. She's known as moody and sharp-tongued but also playful if she likes you.

Her cooperative Craft specialty is shielding.

As you pick up wanted ads and start fleshing out your Cs, feel free to post a similar short synopsis here, so that we can coordinate personalities, strengths, and weaknesses.

I'm making Marcos Torrero, who is the Muscle slot. His team fight specialty is, aptly, Combat Craft.

He is a very friendly, almost never serious guy who's always seemingly joking, rarely finding a situation that can't deserve a good (or terrible) pun or tease. While a lot less opposed to most forms of slavery, he is generally altruistic enough and finds far more in common with angels than demons. Consequently, he likely is helping with this slaver-vendetta even if he isn't wholly married to the notion.

That said, it's also incredibly obvious the man could be a serial killer. For all his niceness and general social morality, he appears to lack some critical component in that firm moral compass of his. It is evident Marc likes to fight, well known he thrills at violence, and it's uncomfortably clear he savors every single kill he can take, without losing a moment of sleep. He is an old soldier and freedom fighter from the Great War, and speaks of the experiences he went through with a blissful fondness. In this way, despite often disagreeing with their temperaments, he is far more suited to the actions of demons than angels.

He never pursues murder, but he does seem to yearn to get into a fight pretty regularly. There's a sense that he's just got a lot of self-control but wants to go on a killing spree.

In other news, he's completely sober of drinks and drugs, is obsessed with tailored suits in the newest styles, and is constantly writing in notebooks-- writing stageplays. His dream is to be a writer and director of plays, and owning a theatre house and school of dramatic arts.

I assume he likes Silver a lot, as well as most of the people, because he decides to like almost everyone, like a really violently-predisposed (and dapper) puppy. But he does wish people would just stop being so glum all the time (a combination of wishing for their cheer, and assuming that's why they don't laugh at all his jokes.)

I'm making Darien Embers, shown as "The Conniver" in the Wanted Ad.

Darien Embers is a short-lived Little Terreillian Prince whose family has a few businesses interests across Little Terreille, based in Midland District. His mother died early in his life and he went to live with his father's family per her final request. His stepmother and stepbrothers made absolutely sure to remind him that he wasn't welcome at every turn, forcing Darien to spend his free time outside of the house learning about the shadier parts of Little Terreille.

Darien keeps friends among the gangs, the thieves, and the whores of Little Terreille and he considers the downtrodden and the misifts "his" people. When his father died without warning, Darien's share of his estate was challenged by the family, leaving the Prince with nothing. So much for family loyalty, right?

Rather than get angry, Darien decided to build his own organization in Little Terreille. It'll take some time and doing (and a whole lot of fucking people over) but Darien believes in doing unto others before they do unto you.

Unless those others are the Unchained.

He likes the members of the Unchained for different reasons, but he wont admit to that. "We help each other out." is his stated reason for assisting them. Further questions are brushed off unless they come from the other members of the Unchained.

Darien's family discarded him, so he'll build his own along the way to becoming one of LT's biggest criminals. He won't deal in slavery (he doesn't want Silver as an enemy) but nearly everything other crime is fair game.

No one leads the Unchained, but he's going to lead his own group of forgotten sons and daughters to glory.

He loves bad jokes, good food, and good music.

Darien's cooperative specialty is Passing Through Objects. Darien's guarded with outsiders, but much more relaxed among people he considers friends. He believes that family is chosen, even if you're born with them.

If you aren't born with the family you want, go out and make one.

Darien's personal goals are:

1. Bankrupt his stepmother and her family.
2. Become a crime lord.

Tylmandra Ahlberg, The Underdog in the Ad, is a Red Jeweled Rihlander Queen.

Escaping Askavi/Rihlander when she was very young, she fell into the possession and protection of an extremely Dark Jeweled Dhemlanese Pirate. She had learned from a young age to hide her Caste so she wouldn't get picked up by the Eyriens and has had help throughout her life keeping that secret safe.

For most of her formative years, Tylmandra basically was the runt on a pirate ship, taught all manner of things a Queen shouldn't really get to know, but also not learning much about her Caste. After a falling out with her mentor and protector over differences of opinion (and who should be in charge), she bounced around doing shady work for Courts that wouldn't be able to detect her Caste. Assassination, kidnapping, and some less dark stuff has made her pragmatic more than altruistic. Over the years she's collected a large network of allies and favors owed.

She has been part of the Unchained for the last 5 years. She's quiet and approachable most of the time, with a bit of black humor to her. She has a temper to her as well, though, and butts heads with Silver when it's something she's passionate about that doesn't align.

The rest of the Unchained would know that she's a Queen, but outside of that it's a very tightly held secret.

Her group specialty will be Stealth Spells.

I'll be playing Hrodi Boesson, a WP with Jewels TBD from LT, who will be filling a modified version of "The Paladin" role. He's a grump. A total grump. The kind with a heart of gold, but still a grump. He's unlikely to find Marco's jokes all that funny, but sometimes he might!

His family is well-off, though not aristo. They are merchant class, and their business is shipping goods rather than creating something. They also offer protection to other shipping vessels and to private pleasure craft. Hrodi tends to want to work alone, so being part of a group is a challenge to him, but he tries his best.

After starting his career in the Navy, Hrodi left to join his family's business instead, where he tends to take the jobs as security on other ships. He has not known true personal hardship, however he has seen enough to have formed his own ideas of right and wrong

Hrodi also has a little house on the sea in LT where he's a bit of a hermit while not working. He will have offered it to the group to use as a meeting space if necessary, but he'll be a grump about that, too. (Get off his lawn!)

I'm still figuring out his personal goal, and right now it's just a super nebulous 'help people' since he is, after all, The Paladin, and he has a tough time saying no if someone needs help.

His group specialty could be Incite Rage.

Nadja is the Valkyrie, a proud daughter of the All Mother and fierce champion of Rihland, despite being despised by nearly every person there in. She finds it easier to identify with the physical geography of her homeland than the assorted cultures she’s seen come and go in her half millennia of life. Half Eyrien, Half-Rihlander, child of subjugation and hardship, each trial has only honed her more finely, allowed the fires of her soul to burn more brightly. She has faced such trials as crush lesser creatures, and found each press to her soul and spirt pushes her closer to the All Mother. She expects a glorious feast and the adoring welcome she has never known, to await her in death. As such, she has no fear of death, merely a concern of dying before she has accomplished a great deed.

Exotically beautiful, alien to all societies, her red-gold hair and burnished wings ensure she is always noticed, though usually the attention drawn is more hostile than appreciative. The Priestess accepts that as the price to open eyes and hearts, not with words, but action. To her, nothing is better than sitting down after a hard fight and sharing rounds of ale and tall tales with those who had despised her just that morning. Well, nothing except sharing those same things with the Unchained. Silver is the family and sure, solid friend she could never find within her own people. Silver’s adopted family are furiously protected by Nadja regardless of personal feelings or actions, simply due to the unshakeable loyalty she feels to Silver.

Nadja is gifted with turning even mundane tales into amusing stories. Her voice, while by no means flawless, is terribly expressive. It cracks with grief, rings with triumph, and all but burns with righteous fury when the story, tale or battle calls for it. She loves to spin yarns, whether made up on the spot or part of the oral tradition of her mother’s people.

Battle deeply appeals to her. It is the crucible and refining that all souls require to become what was intended for them. It is not the raw violence and blood shed that draws her, but the honor, glory and purpose behind the fight. It is not merely a fight she craves but those encounters that shape a new reality for all those who witness or partake of it.

Being despised by nearly everyone for her half breed status and gloriously, unusually beautiful wings, she is driven to seek personal perfection in appearance and character, both. Though she learned early to let insults and hatred flow off of her with apparent ease, those cruel words are never forgotten, but motivate her to prove just how powerful and fierce she can be.

She cannot ignore subjugation or cruelty directed towards women. They are the daughters of the All-Mother, the source of life, for only they create life within themselves. The drive to protect women as her mother was not protected, as Silver was not, is a fundamental part of her character.

Nadja dreams of finding and destroying a single great arbiter of evil, hoping that in that act she might redeem both herself and all of the distant, despised half-breeds like herself.

Her personal goal, separate from her moral beliefs, is to win enough renown to someday own a successful inn and tavern, using some of her mother’s recipes. It is no more than a day dream, at the moment, for her mixed heritage alone would make success impossible.

Her Craft specialty will be in communion, in order to refill Jewels fast enough to be of use on a battlefield.

Ishanvi Chakrabarti, sister to many, daughter of wind, is The Wildling. Like many of the Unchained she is partially long lived.

Her Group Specialty Is Travel Spells aka Riding the Winds. Her affinity for things stealth she shares with Tylmandra though their areas of expertise in the wide field are different. Ishanvi doesn’t like being kept out of places. Lock Picking, picking pockets, and matters of practical stealth aided by craft are her specialties. She is trying to watch and learn much from the Queen in this respect though she may be too proud to outright ask for lessons.

She is, ostensibly, the youngest of the crew at 22
. However, she has been in contact with at least Silver since she was between twelve to fourteen. Once she found out adventures were a thing the child of Dark Birthright was sometimes difficult to keep away from the trouble.

Ishanvi only completed her Offering about six months ago because a sign told her to wait.

This witch is very spiritual. Raised by a Nharkavan Priestess who raises her children in the remote mountains of Sikkim. Ishanvi regularly engages in superstitious rituals which she refuses to explain, even to the Valkyrie. These superstitions are regular parts of her everyday life and no doubt the crew know at least a few of her daily practices. They include her connection to animals and her affinity for rescuing them, rehabilitating them, and taking on pets. She has at least one companion that’s always with her.

When asked the purpose of these practices the witch shrugs, “The Faith of My Mother’s Mother’s is a private thing.”.

Those practices include unflagging honesty. This does not make her popular with people outside those who’ve come to appreciate her somewhat abrasive charm. If lying is of necessity she’ll do it, but she’s really fucking bad at it. Someone else has to cover her when deception craft is required and then it’s best she keep her mouth shut.

The Wildling lives her life to be aligned with the spirits, even if she is in lands far from Nharkava she knows that the winds carry many things. She believes the wind brought them all together to help make and keep Kaeleer free.

Her Goals Are As Follows –

Personal : Complete a complex series of tasks she receives from her mother, a mother who can use craft to reach her children wherever they are unless cut off from their jewels like her brother who is a Glacian Prisoner. Ultimately these trials will lead her to training in a caste and doing some Fancy Nharkavan Faith Things that will make permanent in the stars her life as The Wildling.

With the Group :

{Current} Get help freeing her brother who is a Dark Jeweled Prince who is a member of the Rebellion, from where is he is a collared prisoner of war currently still resisting Glacian attempts to break and brainwash him.

{Future} Do as much as they can as a crew to fight Glacia’s annexing of Nharkava and will generally advocate to intervening wherever that sort of oppression crops up. She’s still mad they weren’t the ones to oust Logain Morr.

I have taken The Duchess on the Casting List of The Unchained, whom is a very well born, Aristocrat from Dharo and a natural Black Widow. While Elisabeth Carlisle's Jewels are not near as possessing a deepened well as most of the gang at an Uncut Rose to a Cut Purple Dusk, Lady Carlisle brings particularly to the gang her gift of severe discipline and the face of a diplomat. Both skilled in Social Craft and Compulsions, rather than any combative measures beyond trying to escape an unpleasant situation, she knows how to procure goods, people, and services. With her from her Dharoan home, she has brought not only contacts, but as well a considerable amount of wealth, at least, for a short lived woman.

Well trained in Protocol to the smallest letter, it is not the spiritual that guides Duchess, but the use of the mundane in the moment. Not to say that the Black Widow is impatient other than what she has honed with precision to keep her instincts razor sharp under fire, but that her upbringing, and very mysterious past have taught her when to call upon any of the hotter tempered Unchained, or when to wait. Personal goals are unknown to the group at large, but there is certainly a hint that she has them. Attempts to get the woman's secrets out of her are literally impossible, and discussions about her past tend to be tightly closed as that sharp, precise speech that is as natural to the lady as her hidden snake tooth. She has been with the group for three years as of Summer 192 AP.

So far, I am still working out exactly what her loyalty and ties are to Silver Thrax that keep her among the group. I'll add more here as I work out details! ;D
"The difference between true nobility and false is this. One is gold put to the use of paving stones. The other is tin polished to ape a service of silver. Both are cruel."

Hi guys! I weasled my way into this party. BAHAHAH

I play Delarius Winton. Dale for short. He's a Warlord, about 6'4 and awkward as all hell. Socially that is. Doesn't totally understand how to interact with people but he's pretty chill and laid back as long as you're one of the people he's decided to trust. He's the communications expert/supply guy for the group. He can maintain several psychic threads at once and is hyper aware of his surroundings. During combat he is usually hanging out in the back or shielded nearby where he can see everything - making sure everyone knows whats going on with everyone else as it becomes relevant. He can totally hold his own in a fight and has a disturbingly lack of issue with bashing heads in himself, but his purpose is usually better served on the outside. As I described it to Phinn, he's the coms guy sitting in the van eating cheetos and watching the monitors, keeping everyone connected and up to speed.

Uhm, he tends to show he likes you/cares about you by taking care of you in weird ways. He notices you have a hole in your sock - you find new socks in your bag. You cranky? He puts a plate of food in front of you and is like "Food." then walks away. He really enjoys cooking and is quite good at it - so is probably the person feeding people as well. He takes care of everyday supplies (like food for all these dark jewels) - but more notably he can get stuff.

Random stuff. Oh you need 800 feet of rope, two dozen ostrich eggs, and three tons of raw iron, sure, i got that.

He's a bit of an acquisitions expert.

STATS
Charisma - 2
Strength - 5
Craft - 5
Perception - 6
Intuition - 3
Intelligence - 7
Luck - 8

As for his goals. He's looking for his moms they were stolen away and either sold or brainwashed or idk - future plot point. He doesn't know what happened to them, and has been trying to find clues. That's his personal goal anyway. As for being with the group - he's decided he belongs with them and can be useful, and has always had a penchant for looking for trouble. That his moms have always wanted him to do good and these people seem to be doing that is also a cause for him.

I'm not sure where exactly he's from - could very well be LT or elsewhere in Kaeleer. His moms owned an inn, which could be a HQ if we need one. *shrug* still working on those details.

Oh um, he also tends to react based on how he thinks others in the group would. Which can make him kind of a wild card in social situations. He tries to think of who best to emulate in a given situation but he can often be wrong or just utterly fail. He's better at emulating violent or skittish reactions. Diplomacy is lost on him and even when he tries it comes out stiff and awkward and totally unconvincing.

But yeah, still working on him.. ^^;

Detail tweak - all ishanvis siblings -except- Darien are also half long lived.

She regularly visits home, and sometimes comes back looking real fucking rough. All she'll say is that Nharkava's full of Glacian monsters and she's just trying to balance the scales.

Unlike many of the unchained, Ishanvi is not secretive. This tight lipped behavior revolves around her duties. By the time Ishanvi met The Unchained she was already a member of The Friends of Rose Neela.

There are things she is extremely private about - nothing more than her faith and het duties to Nharkava's resistence.

Otherwise The Wildling doesn't hide things from her crew mates. When she can't or won't answer she just says so. Some of this extends to Darien but since her twin and his brother got taken as a Glacian POW sometimes she confides in him more.

They all helped shape the soul which allowed her to find the Red as her own. She does have an ability to be very observant (spy and scout for her countries rebellion). It's why she's so good at matters of stealth. Just not at lying.

Edit to Add: Gulshan's been captured within the last 6 to 8 months.
