An Ode to Those Writers you Miss...
« on: Dec 28, 11, 11:40:48 AM »
I was having a discussion with Kri today.. and later with Dani.. about writers in my past that I miss for any number of reasons (strong chemistry, incredible writing style, awesome characters, amazing ability to meld storylines). And I thought it would be neat for us to do an "Ode to the writers you miss". They can be from this site or any site you've written on. Just a few lines about who they were and why you miss them. (I'm being silly and sentimental but 'tis the season so don't tease me :P)

For me.. (in no particular order though it appears to be pretty chronological).

1. Sky & Mara - old Star Wars writers that I did Wheel of Time with too, and they really came as a pair back in the day. For me I think it's nostalgia but we always had good chemistry and meshed well to create fun storylines. Sky was particularly talented about turning our real drama into good writing or real people into interesting characters.

2. Nick - another old Star Wars buddy, he and I did RP together but then we did tandem writing of fan fic. Looking back at those stories they were so Mary and Gary Sue that it wasn't even funny but we had such fun writing them and coming up with new situations in which to place the characters. Our chemistry was pretty awesome too.

3. Maia - a Wheel of Time buddy from my Salidar days who had good influence on my ability to create interesting and compelling characters without forcing the boundaries too far in doing so. She had a knack for spinning tales which was really neat.

4. Kelly - a Wheel of Time buddy from several sites I wrote on. She always managed to write interesting storylines without going overboard and though her characters weren't always the strongest her stories were always compelling.

5. Circe - one of the early moderators from Mother Night, she vanished without much word and I miss her. She wrote really unique character and unique storylines but had such a great grasp on them that they were addicting to read and write with. One of the more unique writers I've worked with.

6. Cara - an old writer from Mother night who had a knack for adopting characters and melding new characters into current storylines without missing a beat. Adoption and plot melding were not always popular at Mother night so her abilities stood out like a robin among blue jays, it was awesome.

7. Envy - another old moderator from Mother Night. She had such an appetite for plotting and character creation and it was awesome to integrate characters with her and write. She could take a concept and totally run with it, spinning it in different directions until she had an entirely unique and awesome character.

Anyways.. I'm being nostalgic today.. join me :)

I will join you, fa sho, Jai.

1. Halo/Persey - She played the Persephone to my Hades once, and we literally kept the entire board running (not to sound like I have a bigger head than we do, but it's true). Then one day we realized that the admin had been gone for about a month and we were the only ones posting and everyone else would just chat and read our threads. Not gonna lie, I thought she was my role playing soulmate once....until I met someone else  >.> -cough cough-

2. Manda - Okay, don't judge me for this for it's not what it seems like. Manda played -sigh- Bella fucking Swan to a lycan I had written. MIND YOU, this was not a "regular" twilight site the Bella/Edward thing was poofed and other shit was going down. Aww fuck it, you're judging me. Anyway. We wrote some pretty awesome things together, and I'm still trying to convince her to join her. I've been working on it >.>

3. Dino & Meg & Blue - We wrote together on a little site called Where We Lie. Not gonna lie, it was a jolly good time. We didn't write as much as I woud've liked before the site closed, but it was fun nevertheless. Actually, I just creeped on Dino via IM. Maybe I'll be sneaky and lure her over here. Oh. And Blue. But she's here ^_^

I played with these people back in the day of Mother Night. I miss them all and still recall the different characters I loved from them most. I think I miss Circe sometimes the strangest because I worry something bad happened to her as she just suddenly disappeared. I think that is just my worry/panic side though.

I actually imagine in the future should Blood Rites die and everyone move on, that Jamie and I would make the list as a duo as we always seem to work together.

Hm... now I have to think. Strangely most of my Play by Post has been BJT and the only thing I did before was on Neopets back before I knew anything about anything. .

I miss Nia from Witchfire (now dead BJT site). I left the site so this is really my fault but she was always such a lovely writer and her characters were never over the top and really a quality plotter and writer. I think she has moved on to bigger and better things but I loved playing with her and plotting with her.

A few random players who have left Blood Rites: Allie, Anna and Lala. These are all ladies I really liked in both plots and OOC. I would stalk them more and convince them to return but I know how time goes and I cannot join another board so would not ask the same of them.

Lastly... I MISS BOWIE! *weeps in a pile of her own tears* He left as his life was busy and he didn't have time for play by post but I dearly miss both his Roleplaying and his overall jack-assery. I could BS with that guy about all sorts of geeky stuff. I need to talk to him more OOC and over IM but I barely can talk to people on the phone so that I haven't spoken to him in a few months is ALL MY OWN FAULT.

I was being nostalgic to old sites but I agree with all of this as well.

Jamie, Noel, and Vanna -- I miss all my buddies from the para-RP chat room/Yahoo and IRC days. I had a group of three other brilliantly talented women, and we ended up becoming real friends, but eventually college and life took over and we lost touch. I think about them often though, and wonder how they are... I think some of the best stuff I ever wrote came about thanks to their awesome characters and storylines, and they introduced me to some of my favorite bands.
