Devesh Acharya

There's blood in the water.

Devesh is the son of a wealthy family, a dynasty that goes back to before the foundations of Nharkava itself. Born with two castes, he wears his shame well, charged by the Darkness to prove himself worthy though cursed as he is to bear the roles of Priest and Prince. To whom much is given, much is required. Each burden is a challenge to overcome and an opportunity to be seen in service to the Darkness.

Devotion aside, he's not an altruistic man. His only motives serve his own existence--it just so happens that benevolence suits his cause. Mother Night expects him to protect his own, to honor the Blood, and to direct supplicants to her worship. His unsympathetic nature can become evident in strange ways as much of what he does seems opposite to his true self. He can be reverent one moment and apathetic another, depending on the setting. Appealing to his sense of duty can turn his indifference to attention and blood will always lure him in.

This One's Not on the Logs
Summer, 191. Having returned home to help secure his family's future in Glacia's shadow, Devesh sets to accounting for all of their holdings. Nearing the end of his weeks-long inventory, he encounters a Landen woman that hasn't been accounted for. Kharisande Lehmda was kept as a slave on his family estate by the recently replaced steward. Devesh struggles to understand the woman as she desperately defends a man who routinely raped her and kept her enslaved. Later, when Devesh seeks a Price for his crimes, Kharisande pleads for his life. Stymied, Devesh agrees to let the two marry, the man becoming her responsibility and indebted to her for the same length of time that he kept her as a slave.

Some Devil
Spring, 190. Called to travel between Nharkava's holy sites, Devesh visits an out of the way shrine and meets a Warlord afflicted with dark feelings and memories of Glacian abuses. Leading the duo in prayer, Devesh guides Lord Vihaan Dara to commune with the Darkness and shed his suffering, taking up a new purpose, one more closely aligned with the will of Mother Night. The two quickly find a mutual affection, but struggle to understand it.

Flesh and Blood (NSFW)
Spring, 190.Lord Dara returns to the temple to continue along the path that Mother Night has set out for he and Devesh. In a small but powerfully significant ceremony, the two pledge themselves to the Night and to each other. They end the evening exhausted and entwined.

Life of the Party
Fall, 192. Prince Sahil Bal, the Light-Jeweled and collared ruler of Goa has invited Nharkava's movers and shakers into his home for an extravagant gala. Unable to resist the chance to vet Nharkava's elite, Devesh arrives in style with Kiara, Shanti, Silje, Sixten and Kharisande, a group sure to raise brows in every direction. Though unable to have any meaningfully in-depth conversations in the public eye, Devesh indicates his interest in further discussion to Nharkava's leaders.

Life of the Party: My Remedy (NSFW)
Fall, 192. An unexpected face appears in the crowd at Prince Bal's fete. Since meeting Lord Dara, a man inexplicably dear to Devesh, the two have rarely ever been in the same place at once. These opportunities are few and far between. With Vihaan fearing that their association could be dangerous if made public, they meet in a secluded corner. Once there, however, long denied, they quickly give themselves over to lust. Their blissful aftermath is denied, however, when Sixten's distress is noted from elsewhere on the property.

Stubborn Stains
Late Winter, 192. With Silje and Sixten proving themselves eternally at odds, Devesh sets out to find a solution to the potential danger of a poorly tended Warlord Prince. Lady Jaya Laghari is a young woman with a particular flair for emotional manipulation. It's no Queen's Touch, but any port in a storm. Devesh and Shanti go to interview Jaya in her home and learn a little about the charming witch.

Padmalaya Estate
Late Winter, 192. Bringing Jaya to Padmalaya Estate for a two week trial, Devesh urges her to consider the commitment that she may make at the end. If judged capable of the task, she will sign a Contract in blood, binding herself to the agreement. After being given the dime tour, Devesh takes her to the lower temple where he unveils the full breadth of the challenge laid out for her.

Breaking Bread, Not Breaking Heads
Late Winter, 192. Meaning to introduce Jaya to the Frisks at Dinner, Devesh finds out that Jaya has already run into Sixten, the interaction not having a positive outcome. Disappointed, but unphased, Devesh brings them together nevertheless. As predicted, Sixten remains mostly focused on the meal. On the other hand, Jaya has little trouble stirring interest from the other Frisks, Silje and her little brother Jakob.
