Incoming Update to BR Boards
« on: Mar 13, 20, 07:42:31 PM »
As a heads up to the forum - our web hosting company is forcing an upgrade on our server to PHP 7.3 (we're currently running version 5.6).

This will happen within the next few months, but there is no set day for when we will be upgraded. It is possible, even likely, that there could be an outage of the site during this time frame as a result.

We are researching how this is going to impact the site in the process. So far, it appears as though we can upgrade both PHP and SMF (our board's front end software) to a stable, compatible version. We are running tests on other software to validate this process. There are other potential complications around the key mods used on the board, and whether they will be fully compatible, which we will hopefully know after running the tests.

We will do our very best to keep the board up to date via this thread. Expected downtime has yet to be determined but we can reassure the community that we do run backups on the site regularly so we don't expect data loss.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
