Spring of 190 AP

Things had started to spiral. Twisting out of the tenuous control that Undine had managed to wrest into her life. Her mother was pushing harder for a political marriage, her brother wrangling for her to take a place at a court- any court, and Livius too was trying to help her plan her life. A thousand different directions and none of them left her feeling with any sense of point or individual purpose outside of their pawns. Even Livius's well meant advice had a hint of self serving.

In the end she pleaded off; seeking a day for herself. Social calls and one that could not be denied as important. Michaela had helped train her; in the various subtle and sundry things that even a queen with no court or province to rule needed to know. In how to make that connection with the land and give of her power without being swallowed and consumed by the constant need the earth felt. How to offer that ebb and flow of power yet remain in control.

They had not been dear friends or even modest acquaintances. Not with the younger version of herself chafing at being forced to apprentice beneath Nero's daughter; not that Michaela was a poor tutor. Nor at Michaela's joy of having to deal with a lower ranked family's spoiled and diffident young queen. What followed was the longest four months of Undine's life so far and what she predicted to be for the rest of her longevity.

Now she sought out her old tutor. No longer forced in proximity the woman's knowledge could not be denied and she would understand the undesirable position that the Blood Opal Queen found herself in. Treading water carefully to avoid the treacherous reefs and tides threatening to pull her under and swallow any personal goals and ambitions. A reason she went with a valet to call upon the other woman rather than her usual escort. Livius would only try to council her out of this meeting. After all; what was said to Michaela could very well make it to Nero or her brother; both of whom held Sabine's ear.

Dressed carefully her outfit was stylish but left her with freedom of movement. The hired conveyance provided the needed transportation across city. Something she could enjoy with the slower route meant to milk extra coin; rather than the more direct route their own drivers would insist upon. A few more moments to herself and her own thoughts. How could she avoid the traps set by her family and still remain in those protective shadows of their name and prestige?

How could she explain this to her old mentor? That it wasn't she lacked ambition; but instead feared her ambitions. Feared that the changes she wanted would not be found in Hayll due to the current corruptions of the system. Even their ruling queen could not sneeze without a month long debate in the senate. All the while the rich got richer and the poor starved in the streets.

The route wasn't long enough for the jumble of thoughts to be composed into anything resembling a coherent conversation or phrase. Just a plaintive 'I'm afraid' that echoed and rattled around her mind in reoccurring wails. A sort of nervousness that clung to the motions of her hands stroking along the drape of her gown compulsively; to the subtle shifting of her stance as she stood by the carriage; waiting for Michaela's staff to announce her.

Even outside of her district there were formalities to follow for one queen to visit another. Rules within rules that made up their dances of protocol and politics. All the while Undine wanted to shed that thin shell of civility and simply plead for the secret ritual or herb that allowed Michaela to move so boldly through life. So unafraid of the unknown and fearless of losing herself to her family's ambitions and needs.

Undine? Well that was a name she didn't know when she'd hear again. The blind Queen hadn't exactly fit in very well at Michaela's court. She was a tender thing in comparison to Michaela's other consorts and the opal Queen had been expressly forbidden to break Undine in... But she'd done well enough, spending more time devoted to her education than to the more basic topics that kept Michaela enthralled. In truth, Michaela had accomplished more than normal with Undine in tow, only because keeping the young queen busy wasn't as easy as it could have been with many others.

Michaela had Undine ushered into a large, comfortable space and met her there, her curiosity greeting the blind queen before her voice. "Lady Undine, you're welcome in my home, as always," she began, her words laced with a familiar honey. "What brings you back to this den of sin? Finally wondering how the other half lives?" She was teasing, of course. Undine had never shown interest in her brand of deviance, but naturally, Michaela couldn't stop herself from wanting to be the one to turn her if that was a corner she ever meant to round.

Heels sounding on tile, Michela approached and then led her old friend to a low couch. It wasn't necessary to assist in this way, but she was glad to offer small helps that didn't cost her a thing. "I'll fix us a drink, hm? Wine? Something headier, perhaps?" Before Undine could respond she was turning away, and moving to do just that. "I have a bottle of spiced wine that was a gift, but I can't remember who from. Either way, it's quite pleasing. Would you like some?"

"Good afternoon Lady Michaela" If they were pushing aside titles then so be it. There was relief in shedding even those barest trappings as her escort led her further within the townhouse. Her own thin slippers allowing her to feel the different textures in flooring. Slowly she moved; encumbered by her unfamiliarity of the local rather than any physical shortcoming outside her diminutive eyesight.

"I had wondered..." She started; forcing a wry grin to her lips. It had been years since they had last spoken; years for a queen as young as Undine to mature some and grow a bit more. " In truth I need advice and you are the only queen I know who has our unique joy of also being part of the Hundred Families" The transition of escorts was a moment of acclimation; but Michaela had often lead her about. Sometimes with awareness of Undine's propensity of running into things and sometimes finding a simple amusement in her stumbling over invisible things- though those moments were usually after the younger queen had displayed some social ineptitude.

"The wine would be lovely. Thank you Lady Michaela" How long could she remain polite with her thoughts chasing and nipping at each other. Circling around and around as she tried to figure out a way to avoid moving into one intolerable direction or another. None really understood her true aversion to life's little, or not so little in some boasts, pleasures. It wasn't the carnal side or even the implied sin; it was that undefinable unknown.

The fact she would be bared, naked and helpless, without even the familiar to comfort her while she was touched and stroked. Where most women would have delighted; the thought made Undine sick. Another loss of control and stripping of her independence. Would the hands petting her be about mutual pleasure or political gain? Would they be seeking a way to her Uncle's ear or want her- flaws and all- for even that moment of passion? Oh Undine had natural urges; often enough that she ached and found herself fighting a sharp and bitter tongue for that frustrated yearning.

"My mother still desires me to make a political marriage.. My brother pushes me to take up even a small district to rule. Both of which I am unwilling to do." Her hands clasped in her lap; tightening against the cloth as she twisted it in her anxiety and the need to disclose something to someone. Even if it could make it to circles higher than she would wish. The worries and words of the Licenius Queen couldn't matter that much to the higher echelons for them to take too much note. Not enough of a risk to outweigh the gain; in at least having another Queen who might understand her issues advise her.

"It isn't for lack of training. If either of us was lacking in those months it was I... but the fact that I am damaged. A great enough disability that I cannot see the laws I would sign, or the tithes that would pass, or the various other sundry paperwork that crosses your desk. I would just be a tool in a court setting... and I do not want to be some males brood mare to rut upon on the other scenario" The words were bald; sharper than intended from emotion. Only her simple strength of will keeping back the little whine that still remained. I'm afraid... am a coward..

Michaela disguised her surprise well, easier that it was done before a blind woman, but she knew not to underestimate Undine's other senses. Pouring two glasses, she descended again, sitting hip to hip next to her guest before sliding her hand along Undine's bare arm to announce the glass that was offered. Michaela didn't withdraw once the wine had been taken, at least not to put any distance between them on the cushions of the couch. The only way that she could impart a sense of closeness to the woman was to let her feel it, and so she fell easily into habits that she'd established when Undine had been in residence. She didn't press the girl, not like she'd wanted to, and so the thin veil of propriety kept them both comfortable in a way.

"Aah..." Michaela cooed softly. She did know a bit about political marriages after all. Did Undine come to ask if she were happy with her old senator? She absolutely was... but for different reasons than what she put on, of course. But when Undine mentioned that she was damaged, Michaela frowned sharply and would have pinched the woman were her wineglass not in the hand closest. Her breathing shifted to controlled huffs as she glowered. For all that she couldn't care less about Undine, it bothered her that she would carry such an assessment of herself. As irreverent as she was, Michaela still believed that Mother Night only created obstacles to create conquerers.

"So what peace do you think I may be able to afford you, dear Undine? Should I tell you that I am glad for my own marriage, that I was entranced by the smaller court I held before? Both are true. Or should I tell you that you I believe you're creating problems that don't exist? You could develop the Craft necessary to sense ink on a page if you desired, or delve into a mind that could, perhaps? What are you afraid of that you're holding yourself back?" Shifting, Michaela finally took a drink of her wine and paused in reflection. Sometimes she wished that her only responsibility was to be rutted upon.

The gentle touches; lingering just enough to see glasses passed without spilling. The careful press of thigh and knee against hers to offer that physical support. Little things that Michaela offered that were at odds often with her careless words. Things that stated she did consider others and things that marked her as a good and strong queen.

" Thank you.." No matter her turmoil Undine was too well bred; too well finessed to gulp at the wine despite the temptation. Wine hangovers were the worst anyways. They drove small chisels into the back of your brain and lodged there for days; to pair with a lovely set of nausea and puffy nature that made wearing half of her gowns unbearably painful. So; tiny sips were now her comfort as she struggled to put into thought and words what her true concerns were.

The surface thoughts and fears had been voiced and swiftly rebuked by her once mentor. The ease of which she cut through those surprising. Then again Michaela had delved into that first barrier of her mind to plant the needed spells. She had worked closely with her sister queen; a pairing deemed perfect as they both shared a birthright and descent ranking; even if Undine's was the darker Opal Michaela's was the defter used.

" I am afraid of the unknown and I suppose the rejection. The what ifs; what if I cannot form a triangle; what if I truly just become another pawn. What if..." She caught herself there. Stopped her words before they could continue to tumble from her lips. Michaela might understand her complaint and desires. Might understand the fears of not really being able to make a difference or failing utterly as a queen. It didn't mean she was safe to confess to. Her brother was first escort to Sabine; her father Nero. They served Hayll's queen. Served in a way that an ambitious, mostly blind, young queen would be wise to be wary of.

"What if no one will have me..." It was a softer sort of fear. Not the true one that rested and lingered; festering in her heart and soul after decades of being told that she was inadequate. That her only value rested in her ability to either form a court or produce another queen. Preferably both if you please; and preferably sired by the highest ranked male of the hundred families she could get between her thighs.

The wine found itself once more to her lips. Her drink larger than proper sip but less than a gulp; not polite but at least not obscene. Michaela could understand the surface concerns; after all what queen had not face the fears around bonding males or setting up her court correctly. They all had that sort of nervousness in finding their place and stride. Would she ever understand that fear of the unknown? The same fear that kept her chained to her spinster's bed night after night; aching to remember those heated kisses and tantamount pleasures that had teased over her flesh until she begged in delightful detail that they be repeated.

How could Michaela understand that? Unknown meant she relied simply upon those she surrounded herself with. That her sense of faith in herself and her family had eroded to the point Undine shied away from even her twin; seeking solitude over the betrayal she felt coming instinctively. What could the grounded and adaptable woman know of those terrors? Then again; how could she not know them? They were Hundred Families after all.

"It is the same reason I do not partake in some of the finer amusements to be had. I cannot know if it will be a caress or injury. The unknown is dangerous. Like trying to swim in the ocean at night, blind folded with rocks and sharks to avoid." It was the best she could come up with. The easiest way to translate her worries into something understandable. A reason why exposing her desires, carnal or caste wise, was worse than standing naked before a room of socialites. Why her nightmares focused more around public speaking than walking naked into a party. Being physically naked was much easier than mentally naked.

Drawing a leg beneath herself, Michaela smoothed her dress back over her legs and leaned against the back of the couch. Angling her body toward the other Queen, she let her knee rest against Undine's hip. Knowing of the apprehension that the other woman could feel, she imagined that it might be more comforting to know exactly where Michaela was, even if it meant her being so close. She was hardly breathing the same air as the fretting Queen anyhow.

"Well... What are you willing to do, Undine?" Michaela had already ditched the formalities, quickly boring of them in such an honest conversation. Her tone was almost dismissive, but Undine should have been able to sense that she was merely confused. "You've stated what you don't want. What would you rather have instead?"

The Lady Licenius hadn't come to visit her, of all people, to be fussed over or lied to with honeyed words. Michaela would either tell her those hard truths that others glossed over or lie outright. But thus far, the topic hadn't reached a place where Michaela might be drawn to misleading the humble Queen. Regardless of her meager estimation of Undine's character and her resentment of the meekness in the quiet one, Michaela didn't yet have a reason to be false with her. She maintained relationships with people that she liked much less than Undine and people that had likely wished her harm. There was no good reason not to encourage strong relations between another well-connected queen. Letting things like personal dislikes erode such bonds was the mark of a political imbecile and she was nothing of the sort.

"You can, and likely will continue to be afraid of both the unknown and rejection. It won't change that you will experience them again and again until you die. They are certain for you, as they are for me and any whose name is known by Hayll's elite. You can remain in the shadows and withdraw if you like, but it won't save you from what you are afraid of--it will only make it worse. No one will have you if you are weak, Undine. Only predators seek the weak."

Sighing, Michaela paused, considering what she imagined was going to be the natural response. But I am weak. Should she explain that everyone was? Every individual? Brushing fingers over a loose strand of hair, Michaela cast her eyes to the wine in her glass. "You'll be as strong as the people you surround yourself with. It is the purpose of the triangle, the circles. You know this." No one is strong on their own, she could have added, but wouldn't admit that she herself wasn't a force to be reckoned with. "You're making it worse by creating distance between yourself and your advisors." Even if they are family. "They want to be close to you, they need to feel heard. You must make your own decisions or be judged incompetent, but do not dismiss them outright."

Again, she sighed, stopping herself before she launched into fully detailed explanations for each of her points. There was advice and there was being lectured, and Michaela was trying to avoid the latter. "Seeking advice from an old enemy is just going to piss them off." Michaela hoped that Undine could hear her smile in her words.

"I feel like you already know these things. Did you just need a reminder or could you not think of a better place to seek solace for the afternoon?" Tapping the wineglass with a ring, Michaela regarded Undine with a curious eye. Bringing up matters of amusement in her house was dangerous ground for a seemingly innocent Queen.

"In truth Michaela; I am not certain what I want can be achieved. I want to see our poor at least provided the rungs of the ladder to climb out; but how can we affect change with the Senate choking down the authority of queens? We are offered parlor tricks and games instead while they truly rule Hayll." She had spoken the words. Released the from her frustrated soul to a ruling queen whose family served that same Senate she disparaged. The reason she didn't take herself from the shadows of her family and into the public light- because she couldn't stand the thought of failing, or worse gaining a hollow power that could affect no good to the people she ruled.

"Angry fuming sharks.. What a lively thought" Placing the other queen as an enemy was a bit too much. They had not rubbed along well together; but Michaela had helped lay the foundations of craft and knowledge of ruling a court. No; enemy was too strong of a word. "Advisors? My mother and grandmother would direct my life down to what slippers I put on and whose bed I slipped into.. I think, to be my own woman, I need to move from their shadows" Her hand lifted from her wine glass. She could feel the turn of her wrist that moved her palm to face upwards. Her mind told her that fingers were slightly curled; yet only light and shadows remained in her vision.

" In truth, I wasn't seeking solace; but someone who would not dismiss me outright or soften their words. You are right though. I cannot remain in the shadows for eternity. It would be a waste of your wonderful tutoring and that alone would be a crime"

Michaela couldn't bring herself to dislike Undine for her altruistic leanings, but she certainly viewed the stance as weak. She wouldn't say it, but Hayll was very much a kill or be killed scenario. The water analogy was fitting as Michaela very much believed it didn't make sense to try to save anyone from drowning while you yourself weren't a great swimmer. That's how she saw Undine. Desperately trying to save those who would never think to repay the favor. Oh, but they would be grateful, yes, and that would be enough for Undine.

Grateful meant nothing unless it might lead to future favors as far as Michaela was concerned. She couldn't think of a single instance of kindness on her part that wasn't tied to either an immediate or long-awaited boon. She didn't feel the slightest bit selfish about it either. No one else was going to ensure that she kept her head above water. At this point in her life, she'd managed to construct a rather posh raft, and it too was ever evolving. Why should she feel poorly that she kept herself afloat? After all, anyone willing to aid her cause was welcome aboard. That was as kind as she felt she need be in such choppy waters.

Still, speaking in vagueries could be of some benefit to the contrasting Queen at her side. Their intentions were very different, but certain ideas could be shared between them. "Don't forget to acknowledge your smallest victories. If all you do is focus on the grandest of them, you won't notice your progress as easily as if you count each step. Recognizing progress can be rewarding if you let it and averting your eyes from the larger goals will mean that when you do finally look up, you'll notice that you're closer than before. We're young, Undine. We don't understand true patience." Though Michaela believed that she grasped the concept better than most anyone her age, she granted the thought to encourage communion between she and her guest. "There's still so much time to achieve what we want. Few of our kind became what they wanted to be while so young." Michaela stopped there, aware that her achievements were vast compared to her age. She didn't feel the need to rub them in Undine's pretty little face. It didn't matter that Michaela was nowhere near where she meant to be in life. But she wasn't discontent either, that was the point.

Undine spoke of senators and Michaela didn't need to disguise her grin from the blind woman. She'd fought her father hard over her own marriage to the old man who warmed her bed. Thank the Night he'd pressed the issue. It wasn't ideal, but nothing was. Aemilius was exactly what Michaela needed, whether she'd wanted him or not, and Michaela was fond of him if only because of how fond he was of her. Her skin warmed just thinking of how tightly he was wound around her finger. Would it be in poor taste to suggest that Undine find herself a similar suitor? She was pretty enough to fetch at least a handful of offers. Off of the top of her head, Michaela knew at least two that she could make arrangements with if requested.

"Naturally, I have an advantage in the senate," Michaela admitted. It wasn't just her husband or father, though they were the most useful. There was a web of interconnected strands, some of them weaker than others that kept her well informed and capable of enacting some small changes as she liked. Again, it wasn't ideal, but it was more than, say, Undine could claim. "It does help to have political friends, Lady Licenius. You can't expect to get much done without those relationships, no matter how distasteful they may be to you." Michaela gave a quick little laugh and waved a hand. "And I'm sure that there are at least a few who share your values."

"We don't need to mince words, Undine. I look as you as a sister." Coming from Michaela, the saying meant somewhat less than it might to others. So many members of her family had been and would be enemies of hers at various times in her life. "You don't need to be kind to be respectful of what we are to each other. We are allies, are we not?" Michaela rarely recognized a middle ground. "Quite different from each other, but it doesn't mean I won't help you if I can." If it suits me, she meant, but Undine should have been able to differentiate between the phrasing and the meaning. Maintaining a relationship with Undine would give her insight into worlds that she knew little about, and that was worth at least some effort on her part. "Tell me how I can help you."

" Small victories... Little tokens instead of true change. My brother speaks of them too. I think he took all the ambition for the both of us..." A wry smile escaped her; her voice softened a little talking about her brother. No matter in the same room they circled each other like hissing cats. They still loved one another as twins were apt to do. The wine glass found itself toyed with. Her knee brushing Michaela's; lightly grounding herself for knowing where the other woman sat.

"No doubt there are some that do. The matter is making those connections. My Uncle is the Senator for our family and right now he sees me simply as a pawn on the board. Which is my fault for allowing it. Even if I insisted on being found a village to rule; well that would give me more power than an indolent relation" Small talk could be skipped; lost for all the hedging and hemming. Used at dinner parties and places where social manners dictated perfect and proper comportment; or hedonistic display. Since Undine billed herself as a bit of a cold fish; it was proper comportment always.

As Michaela spoke of having sisterly feelings Undine had to fight a snort. Sisters stabbed sisters for the right power plays once you reached high enough. Sibling bonds and even paternal ones meant nothing when the right bait was dangled and the waters Michaela swam in had so many fishermen dangling so much bait.  It was best to keep the temptation fully away. She read the subtext in Michaela's words.

The promise of help if it helped her. Another ally working for power? Would that be inducement enough. " Teach me... I need to know how to swim these infested waters. " Bold words;  but heartfelt enough. She wanted and needed to learn. Livius would not always be there to shield her.

Michaela shifted at Undine's last words, leaving a silence where words had been expected. She hummed thoughtfully, filling the space with some sound that indicated that she hadn't drifted away from the conversation. Draping herself forward, she slid her glass onto a large marble block table in front of the low couch. For a moment she rested her elbows on her knees, head inclined back to study the blind Queen, darker than she by one rank. Was it her disability that prevented her from taking a more active role in her own life? She'd never gotten the impression that Undine believed herself anything less because of it. Michaela certainly didn't. On some level, she was lucky she couldn't see with sensibilities as delicate as hers seemed to be. Or was it worse? Having spent time in Michaela's home, it must have been sometimes disconcerting to hear what was happening without being able to see it.

Lifting a hand, Michaela smiled and patted Undine's knee almost kindly. "We can't help our compulsion to rule, so I can't suggest that you deny it. I know that I couldn't even if I wanted to. But remember that being a standing Queen does not necessarily grant power. The hands that guide Hayll aren't always Queens or senators. I've heard it said that you must grow where you're planted. I fuss because well..." Michaela gave a cheerful laugh, "I can't help myself. But I think I've successfully applied the strategy well enough." She sighed then. "None of this is what I wanted," she added in a quieter, huskier voice. Undine wouldn't be able to make out her gestures, so she withheld them.

Finally, she sat back again, stretching into the cushions at her back. Cocking an arm on the back of the couch, she leaned her head against her hand. Teach her. Their motivations likely couldn't be more different. Were Michaela raising a Queen in her shadow she would start with self-confidence and drive. No one was going to sign up under a woman who didn't trust herself to act. At face value, that was a lesson that she could impart to Lady Licenius, but her methods might not be ideal. Know what's between your legs and where it will get you. Was that really a lesson Undine wanted to learn? Take advantage where you can. Michaela saw nothing wrong with it, but the good Queen might challenge the idea. Everything seemed to come back to valuing oneself, something Undine seemed incapable of, but how to encourage it when they were such opposites?

Undine had come to her of all people. Maybe she just didn't want to be forced to openly state that she was open to something different? Even if she didn't adopt all of Michaela's advice, she'd do well to learn to better assert herself at the very least. How in the world could she instruct her without corrupting her? Corrupting would be thrilling, yes, but Michaela rarely forced the seeds of her agenda on infertile ground.

"Well... Where do you think I should start?" she finally asked. "Naturally I have ideas, but I don't think you'll be very receptive. You know enough about how I operate."

Undine fought the want to flee. She had just escaped her home and in truth there was no escaping her reality. Blind or Seeing it couldn't change the fact that she was a Queen. Something more than caste. It was a deep facet of her personality and being. The want to improve and influence those around her. The fact she was powerless only furthered her own frustrations and sense of helplessness.

Coming here had been a mistake. At least that is what she told herself. It was a mistake to shake up the status quo. After all she was young and had centuries to start building a court and start the gradual shifts of power needed to structure real change. Coming now had just shown her youth. The silence before Michaela's words seemed to stretch out forever. Then her former mentor spoke. The words were frank and indeed Undine knew how Michaela worked.

Secrets and favors all lubricated up with writhing bodies and the play of caress over flesh. The forbidden that Undine forever closed off from herself. Undine gave a little shake of her head; drawing herself back from thoughts. Instead she focused on the slight shifts of her fellow Queen's body. The subtle ques she had learned from a queen whose jewels were almost identical to hers; Undine just standing a slight bit further into the darkness- a fitting irony for her dulled sight.

"I had thought the Senate controlled most everything. " Or at least that was the supposed reason for the Senate. The urge to rule, as Michaela stated, was something that rode most queens. It wasn't the ego or power; at least not for many of them. It wasn't for the weight of responsibility or even the fame that came from holding a province or district. The need to hold to the land and enrich it; to organize those living souls into a semblance of peace and care- that was the underlying motivation that pushed on instinct.

"I am somewhat familiar with your tactics.  Some are not suited for me." If they were being frank then Undine would have to speak clearly and presently "It isn't that I don't enjoy sex... I have a feeling I would like it immensely." A slight blush tinged her cheeks; coloring them with her embarrassment.

"It is worse; that being naked and helpless. Unable to see or know if it is a hand that will caress or something worse. It requires a surrendering of control and I have so little of it left over myself and my life" She wasn't certain what was worse. Indicating that level of in-expertise with the carnal side of nature or the fact she admitted to desire control. Undine tried to push back that side; the one that wanted to command and push others to her whims and will.

"I honestly have no idea to start. I am willing to learn; even if I might think some of your tactics  unorthodox" She could be polite and still state she might resist a few of the suggestions

Michaela's smile bloomed easily when Undine acknowledged her sexual frustrations. Gently, Michaela pushed her hand beneath one of Undine's. With her free hand, she traced the edges of Undine's face, touching tenderly, curling fingers into the baby hairs near her ear. "You could be fierce, Undine," Michaela promised quietly, "If you wanted."

Squeezing Undine's fingers, Michaela then stood, relinquishing her grip and moving away to the side of the room. Idling behind the bar a moment, the sound of crystal clinking and liquid softly splashing would easily traverse the space between the two of them in the otherwise quiet space. When she returned, she offered a single glass to Undine, not caring whether she was finished with the first. "Take it, but drink only as much as you feel you can trust me." Michaela swayed her hips, unable to contain the rising excitement for the ideas that came to mind. "It will warm you from the inside, make you suggestible to ideas that might normally cause you worry. If you drink it all you may not be able to experience concern at all for a time. I want you to open up, Undine, but fear that you're unable on your own. If you trust me, perhaps I can introduce you to a new Undine, the one you're afraid to release, the woman you would like to be more often."

It was all rather presumptuous, calling her guest out like that, surmising that she knew anything about the woman within the onion layers. But Michaela was confident that her ideas would truly show Lady Licenius a new way to view the world around her. Sure, the exercise would be sexual in nature, but most awakenings happened in a bedroom, this one needn't be any different. If Undine was amenable to a bit of momentary mystery and chose to trust her, Michaela meant to enact change, starting here, starting small.

"It will only take a few minutes to overtake you. Warmth first, then a touch of desire. You will still be able to reason, but you'll find yourself overwhelmingly unaffected by inhibition. Your only remaining reticence will come from phantom fears, ghosts of what you feel should and should not be. I chose this tonic because I want to change what you think is and isn't acceptable, by showing you a different way, one I think the Lady Licenius we know might shy away from."

Michaela glanced toward the hall that led to her own bedroom. She wanted to prepare a few things for the lesson but wondered if leaving Undine in such a state of confusion was foolish. She may simply bolt. It was her right. Had Michaela been too honest too quickly? She could have been much more coaxing in her appeal to the other Queen, but she feared that Undine would pick up on her enticing tone and have all the more reason to fear Michaela's motives. Undine had said that she was willing to learn, even if some of Michaela's tactics were unorthodox... and they were. But in this case, that was part of the beauty. Undine only saw herself with another in the same way that she imagined most people came together. This stunted her willingness to engage in relationships, things that Michaela often viewed as simple exchanges of power. If Undine wanted to rule better, Michaela was sure that teaching her to do so within the bedchamber was a fine place to start. Two birds with one stone and all that. She was fairly giddy with the ideas that had come to mind for her shy little student.

If Undine was unsure, and wished not to be, she had only to take a sip. Subsequent drinks from the glass would further the effect. As stated, she ought only to drink as deeply as she wanted to trust Michaela. Finishing the glass would all but ensure that nothing was off-limits. Michaela grinned at the idea, but knew that she wouldn't challenge much, not today anyhow, as she did hope that Undine would return for further instruction.

"Excuse me a moment Lady Licenius," she finally spoke. "If you're not here when I return, I'll understand." With that, she left only the echo of a faint chuckle in the room. Undine was left with whatever decision she would make regarding the honeyed drink. If she chose to imbibe, she would notice that the sweetness of the dark drink did only just enough to offset the bitterness of the herbs infused within the concoction. It wasn't a disgusting brew, but like some liquors, it might take some getting used to before it could be tasted without scowling.

By the time Michaela returned, whatever dulling effects were in order would have already begun to blossom. Finding Undine hadn't darted at all, Michaela smiled and returned to the couch, this time sitting on the low stone table in front of it. Gathering Undine's hands, she lifted them to her face, turning them to kiss both of her open palms softly, testing more than anything. Had she had any of the drink? If so, how was she feeling? She wanted to ask, but more, she wanted to allow Undine the time to come to terms with what Michaela was offering. It was important that Undine didn't feel taken advantage of. After all, that was one of the fears that she'd listed, feeling helpless.

"What do you want, Undine? To try something new? Something maybe a little bit strange at first? If not, you won't disappoint me. I could always have the pool heated and call in a healer to massage oils into our skin while we discuss which senators we like best, just like old times."

She felt the other woman shifting. The blur of shadows indicating movement but little more as her lashes dipped down; shielding her gaze even as fingers boldly traced along the line of jaw and cheek. Silken hands caressing almost too intimately for one accustomed to closing off and pushing away touch. A tactic that left her cold, aching, and so alone.  "Fierce is better than this." She whispered in return. Uncertain why it felt appropriate to whisper even as she leaned into the touch; savoring it for just a moment.

The squeeze to her hand before Michaela once more whisked away lingered upon. Touch starved. It was something vital to a queen and all she had of it were the protocol perfect touch of her fingers to Livius' wrist; or whom ever was playing escort. The friendly hugs of Danae helped some; but she was truly starved for that one connection she could forge and had no ideas how to satisfy that need. Had no idea of how she could release the self imposed control long enough to feast on her one whole sense.

The clinking of glass and slosh of liquid striking a cup were normal noises; white noise that she tended to tune out even if she was curious on what Michaela was preparing. The new cup offered to her had her reaching forward even as she sought a polite place to put her first mostly finished glass. Memory was at least accurate and the small table provided a surface for her former glass to rest. Michaela's words were taken and measured. The cup held in her hands politely as she traced her fingers along the smooth surface of her glass; tracing from habit the texture even as she wondered the additives in the drink. Not that she worried her friend would cause her obvious harm; only Michaela was known for her more risque views on the world.

As she explained the concern washed away slightly. What would it be like not to be so tightly bound in her head and worries? To stop fighting each impulse and just live? It would be a whole new way of being; far different and more engaging. Alive versus surviving- if she wanted to be cliche. Here words weren't required as she set the glass to her lips. The smooth edge pressed even as she took a small sip; letting it linger on her tongue to pull apart the different flavors.

A small frown; more a wrinkling of her nose at the unfamiliar and vaguely, not quite, unpleasant taste. The herbs were not an accustomed addition and so her cautious sip turned to another one. Just enough to say she was sampling it. Of course Michaela would have to phrase the drinking of it in such a cloak and dagger way that caused her some hesitancy to take more than those modest sips.

That hint of the forbidden and the starved nature for touch though; that weighed against her natural hesitancy to move forward. Drink and grow past the stifled cage she had made for herself. A chance to be fierce instead of a timid mouse running the length of her maze; trying to find that escape. Another sip passed her lips. The warmth spreading and bringing with it a sense of relaxation. It wasn't a loss of self like intoxication would bring; but instead a simple relaxation of guards.

Only a few mouthfuls. It was all she could stand to taste and anything beyond that the drink would tease away any sense of worry. Liberating; the herbs helped push away those worries and self conscious fears she used to continually put herself back into the shadows. Her brother was the bold one. Perhaps it didn't have to be that way.. Her inner musings were paused when Michaela returned. The glass settled to one side; still mostly filled but for the few mouthfuls she had sampled.

Again the touch offered was once more savored. Her fingers brushed gently over the soft plumpness of Michaela's lips even as her own turned into a winsome smile at the soft kisses to her sensitive palms. Touch; she was starved for it and Michaela offered it in such generous abundance. The question was phrased cautiously and generously offering her a gentle out.

"Something new... There is always time for gossip after" The words escaped her in a rush. No pause or careful weighing of what she was to say; only the sudden blurting of her thoughts. Something new and exciting; a feast perhaps for the self imposed famine.

Michaela smiled into Undine's hands, letting the other woman feel the way her lips curved at the edges of perked cheeks. "Good... good," she murmured softly, sliding her hands up from Undine's elbows until they clasped her wrists. Rising, she pulled the other Queen up with her and turned toward the hallway in a swish of silken raiment.

Leading Undine through her home, Michaela was aware that there were certain fears that she wouldn't be able to erase. It was what the drink was for, though Undine hadn't even half finished the glass. A mark against Michaela? She doesn't trust you, one voice prodded. I taught her better, Michaela thought responsively with a satisfied smirk. Even if Undine didn't submit to the fullness of the plot steadily unfurling in Michaela's thoughts, it wouldn't hurt the sitting Queen any. Already the day had been intriguing enough, and seeds had been planted today.

With softly clicking heels, Michaela pulled the other woman at her back, past decor that she might usually want to showcase, yet Undine was all but unseeing and Michaela was too eager to test her theories to want to linger. Finally, she reached her own bedroom suite, a set of rooms typically off limits for play. But Undine was different and needed to know that whether or not enjoyment was had, she was not just a game to Michaela. The residual psychic scents in the space were different here than in other rooms. Michaela's was the strongest, followed closely by that of the old senator, her husband. There were others as well, faint and more tenuously linked to the area. What was not in the room was the sense of sport that could be felt in most any other space in the luxurious apartment.

"I want you to know that I truly wish you well Undine," Michaela explained softly, standing in the doorway and pulling her arm before her to usher Undine within. Releasing the woman's hand then, Michaela leaned on the door, letting it close quietly at her back. She could lead Undine around and familiarize her with the space, but she wanted Undine to do it on her own, absorbing the atmosphere at her own speed.

There was a source of light to one side of the room, a large doorway to an open balcony that provided a fresh and spirited breeze dancing in the curtains. An overlarge ebon wood bed dominated the center of the room with carved posts that sprung more like intertwined branches toward the high ceiling where they reached together and formed a chaotic yet captivating tangle. Facing the impressive centerpiece, at the foot of the bed was a chaise cut from the same dark wood, set with plush cushions covered in a silk so exquisite that it shone like liquid gold. Michaela didn't lament that Undine couldn't appreciate the opulent ornamentation with her eyes, rather envied her for the blissful sensations that would greet her senses when she felt them instead.

Incense had been lit, intoxicating scents filtering through the air stirred by the breeze. A low, stimulating song was being plucked from string instruments in a small adjoining chamber. There was a voice to the touching tune, but it was either foreign or the notes were not words at all.

Michaela's shadow passed over Undine as she moved between the other Queen and the light from the balcony. Standing in the open doors, Michaela greeted the wavering sun with a catlike stretch, and reaching her hands to her shoulders, unfastened the clasps that held the gossamer fabric together. Delicately falling, the silk fluttered, kissed by the gentle wind. Smoothing her hands down her sides, it took only a shift of the hip to push the rest of the dress off of her golden form and it fell, puddling about her feet. There were no servants to attend her, so when she stepped free of it, a small breath of air pushed it to curl about the feet of a long, ornate mirror.

Nude now, except for a striking set of black heels, Michaela moved to the bed, laying herself on her stomach across much of its breadth. "Come, join me on the bed, Undine," she called invitingly. Undine was naturally going to suspect that she only meant to take her carnal pleasures and be done. No amount of words would convince anyone that the deviant Queen actually had a goal in mind aside from her own adventure. This was why trust was required, and a dose of honied herbal assistance. The incense wouldn't do much on its own, but joined with all the rest might bring Undine's worries down a point or two. After all, everyone knew that Michaela didn't dare touch seduction Craft, it was offensive to her, and if she wanted a toy, she had plenty.

Michaela's guidance was familiar. The shift of her body easily telegraphed through the hand upon Undine's arm. Her subtle fragrance alone its own beacon in the shifting shadows of the blind queen's world. The thin leather soles of her slipper type shoes scuffed slightly over the floor; feeling the shift between cool marble tiles to the decadent plush of carpets. Attentive with her other senses Undine took in the subtler play of scents; from incense to the softer warmer taste of fresh air from the opened window. The stream of light with flickering breaks of shadow told her were either curtains or panes- the exact details were indistinguishable.

" I had no doubt of that Michaela" Her reply was a bit delayed; her mind busy with processing the sensations and orienting herself with the new layout. A mental map she worked to process if only to keep from feeling abandoned and adrift within the room. Private chambers; that is what she would have identified the room as if only for the lack of other psychic impressions in the air. The understated incense combined with the faint melodies of instrument and voice all plied together to play with Undine's sense of hearing and smell. Like a puzzle she worked to map the room. Each step slow; her foot sliding forward instead of lifting to trace out where furniture might lay in her path. Each piece slowly fell together into a distorted, no doubt, mental image of what she was facing.

The shifting of shadows and light gathered her attention. Undine's head tipped at the soft slither of fabric and it flowed against the floor. The dark blurred shape that represented Michaela against the backdrop of light as if she were some envisioned specter come to guide her towards the paths of destiny. A maudlin thought if any and one that earned the faintest tease of a smile. Heels clicked against the floor; allowing the blind woman to follow the movement of her former mentor. Her body turning to face where Michaela's voice now came from. A sense of understanding of where this was heading and yet confusion. Was she certain this was where her tastes lie? Did she even have enough experience to say what her tastes were? After all the aging warlord who had helped see her through her virgin night had done little but safeguard her jewels; perhaps this experience would prove a bit more enlightening.

Using Michaela's voice and the beacon of those echoed jewels as her guide Undine moved forward. Not confident and bold. Her stride was slow and methodical; a careful glide to allow her foot to find any furniture before her nose or thighs found them. A gait she had learned early on growing up. Run into a few doorknobs or dressers and caution became a second nature. Breaking habit of keeping her hands folded she reached out to probe the air. Her knee pressed to the edge of the mattress as fingers told her the height of the bed. Fully clothed and coiffed yet she was flushed with her own uncertainty and the warmth of the wine from earlier.

Slowly she crawled onto the bed. The fine silk of her dress bunched up to her waist that she could crawl over the plush comforter before pausing; kneeling just a few inches from her fellow queen. An expression of expectant confusion touched over her brown and caused her lips to pull into an almost whimsical smile. Her palm reached out towards Michaela; waiting for guidance needed to find and touch. So starved; she hungered for the feel of flesh against hers. To be enfolded in that sense and for a moment not feel so alone or lost.

"So now that you have lured me here, like a silly fish following a very shiny and tasty lure, what comes next?" Her tone turned husky. Soft and expectant yet questioning. Not exactly meek or overeager she instead turned to a sense of inner bemusement and wonder. What would Michaela's flesh feel like? Would her body have similar curves and dips a Undine's own? Would it chase off the shadows for just a little while?

Finding herself drawn to the unique grace of the blind Queen, Michaela watched her, enthralled by the way Undine held herself, disadvantaged, but not at all broken. Did she know it? She could be fierce, and she didn't need sight to accomplish the feat. Admiring the other Queen, Michaela was struck with the question of whether or not she was being unfair. Was it too much to expect that Undine could seize a power within herself while at times so reliant on others to guide her? But she put it out of her mind. No, she didn't know what it was like to live blind. Even now, after having spent much time with Lady Licenius, Michaela was always noting difficulties that she herself would never experience, awing at the ways Undine made up for the deficit of sight. Hers would be a more difficult path, but she was a Queen and no matter what the circumstances, she was built to rule. Not simply in title, but to truly rule the Blood realms.

Michaela drew herself up onto her knees and moved to the edge of the bed, sitting back on her heels as Undine approached. She reached out to take Undine's outstretched hand and pulled her in, standing at the edge of the bed. "Lure?" she marveled with a quieted chuckle. Plucking at Undine's garments, Michaela puzzled a moment at how to easiest remove them and then decided upon vanishing them completely. It wasn't in the spirit of the lesson, but she was going to need to take a few liberties to get things started.

"Own that you came to my lair of your own volition, Lady Licenius. You followed me here, and you chose this. Yes, you've extended me an allowance of trust, but the lure is within your heart, not my bed. You must realize it. You are not a victim. You are a Queen, a power beyond all others, and this is your will."

This wasn't the first time that she'd seen Undine undressed, but she made a point to appreciate the lovely form before her nevertheless. Beauty was one of Michaela's many drugs, and the idea that she could draw out so much more from within Undine had her well excited. Leaning in, she drew her tongue beneath a breast, lifting it up before she gripped Undine's waist and sunk a full kiss over the nipple. Unexpected, perhaps, she was prepared for the other Queen to flinch, but didn't wish her to recoil. Michaela would attempt to force her to remain near if need be.

Unable to speak in any manner that might be judged coherent, Michaela offered a thread between them, seeking entrance to that other similar mind that could have almost been a twin at one point long ago. But Michaela had developed so different from Undine, and now wanted dearly to impart some of her collected knowledge.

*Open up, dear Queen. Let me in.* Michaela hummed a little laugh as she lavished Undine with her lips, relinquishing her hold finally so that she could take both breasts into her hands and hold them for proper worship as her kisses trailed hungrily between them.

*Is it not sublime? Don't fear pleasure. The only advantage to take is that which you don't wish to give. If you wish me to stop, only tell me.* Yet as she imparted the words, Michaela reached down to slide her palm over the warm flesh between Undine's thighs. Rubbing it, she circled her tongue around the sensitive flesh of Undine's breasts and coaxed each crowning bud to fullness.

Her clothing vanished. One moment she was kneeling there; her fingers clasped over Michaela's wrist safely clothed and the next she was utterly nude. The air cool upon her skin caused her nipple to harden even before the suggestive air that was her mentor wrapped about her.

" You too are a queen. If it is anything it is our will; not a victim but feeling a bit foolish.. She confessed. Her stance unflinching of her nudity. Her body was beautiful; she had no reason to doubt it. Her skin soft and supple and breast generous and while she was not toned to a lean hardness the softness of her slender form fell in thexappropriate curves. A blessing in her blindness that she did not doubt or compare her form to her bed fellow's.

Instead her fingers traced up Michaela's wrist. A feathering light touch as she soaked in the skin to skin contact. Silken and smooth; soft with a hint of edged muacle beneath. So focused on that feathering touch that her first reaction to the warmth and moistness of Michaela's mouth upon her breast was a short cry of alarm.

Her heart turned to racing as she tensed in the embrace meant to hold her in place. Her back bowed before at last pleasure overrode fear. The wine helping ease that transition as she felt freer; a languid sort of calm spreading through her.

How easily she allowed Michaela to forge that temporary bond between them; opening the first of her mental barriers with the gentle nudge. Breathing through the unfamilar sensations racing through her Undine didn't move. Each pull on her nipple seemed connected to something far closer to her core. The tease of plush lips against her beast earning little tremors as she warred between that need for control and just how lovely those teeth felt just grazing along the puckered tips of her breasts.

* It is very persuasive...* Even there her voice sounded softer, richer without the girlish softness her speaking voice offered. In her own exploration Undine traced her palms over Michaela's hands upon her breasts; feeling where the plump flesh spilked out between slender fingers. Her touch roved in an unbroken caress to follow the curve of shoulder.

Fingertip moved to caress the delicate hollows of collarbone before moving to trace the swell of Michaela's breast. Slowly; measuring with the same exacting care Undine gave each of her motions. Carefully manicured nails curled slightly to rasp ever so faintly over the queen's skin. A slow exploration and savoring in comparision to Michaela's direct approach.

The brush of a palm against her thighs brought a faint pause. Her legs tensing where she knelt. Pleasure merged with the want for flight until Michaela's skilled mouth once more distracted her. Drawn, Undine gripped Michaela's breast in her own hand. Her hold so very light even as questing fingertips brushed over those sweetly pointed nipples.

Her fingers gently pinched one of the peaks; feeling it plump beneath her minstration. Curiousity and wonder touched the typically solemn woman's features. Would her skin taste as sweet as she smelled? Would Michaela feel that same sort of drawing pleasure if she suckled there?

* Just slowly.. So I know where you are..* Her one request as that soft slow simmer of desire coursed through her. Undine's head bowing until she could touch her lips to that just explored nipple. Her tongue flicked over the peak first in a sampling taste. Undine paused just a moment that the promise of warm lips and heated breath teased over Michaela's flesh before she captured that pointed peak, oh so lightly, between her teeth before suckling.

Tit for tat; after all they were equals in caste and jewel rank. Besides it wasn't fair if Michaela was the only one enjoying the exploration...

Undine's sympathetic nature caused her to shy away when Michaela asserted how powerful the blind Queen was. Instinctively, kindly, her reaction was to mention how she was not the only one of such nature in the room. Michaela hadn't yet explained the exercise to Undine, prepared to show her instead, so it made sense when the other Queen moved to recognized Michaela's own supremacy. Michaela's authority had nothing to do with the unfurling scenario in the room, however, only Undine's. Nothing else needed to be considered, for now. Michaela sought to establish Undine's will as paramount but this would come to light soon enough, so Michaela made no correction.

Humming softly, Michaela noted that the reserved little dove was already stretching into a new evolution of herself. She didn't expect to be received so readily and with such gracious touches and lovely sounds. The concoction that she'd fed her estranged friend couldn't have done all the work either. How long had Undine been denying herself such desires? Michaela found herself regretting that she didn't have her own dick to fuck the Queen with. She would have put aside the lesson long enough to ram the most pressing of those needs into submission first so that they could progress unimpeded. They were going to be a problem if Undine didn't readily take the reigns that Michaela would soon hand over. Of course, if she did accept control of the room, well, then Michaela would see to each of those needs with exactly as much care as the budding domina prescribed.

But she had to make her want it first.

Whether it was the slow burn of a lustful fire or a wish to reciprocate, Undine began her own exploration of Michaela's body. The experienced Queen took little notice at first, the suck of her lips still pressed to Undine's breast as she drew her in closer, urging her to follow onto the bed. Little by little, Michaela retreated toward the center of the soft mattress, seeking to draw Undine along with her, following the lure of delicious sensations. Where she hesitated, Michaela would push her fingers further between Undine's thighs, resisting the urge to sink them inside if only to pull her with a little more persuasive leverage.

Slowly, she'd requested. It wasn't a command, but at least she'd stated her wishes. This, and so much more, Michaela thought with delight. It was in her, in Undine, to ask for what she needed. Perhaps it was easier for the meek one when her inhibitions were muted.

"I will be wherever you wish me to be," Michaela promise, the thrum of a low purr echoing along the length of invisible thread that connected their minds.

Slowly, with a touch of regret, though, Michaela began to detach herself from the eager one, drawing her hands up to cup that sweet, cherubic face and stare into unseeing eyes. "But it isn't about me, Undine."

Kneeling and facing each other on the bed, their naked bodies mirrored each other, sending the long shadow of twin goddesses to stretch over the floor. Could Undine feel the tinge of regret in Michaela's mood? She wouldn't be able to discern it as it made its way over her somber expression. Almost mournfully and as tenderly as she might bid a lover farewell, Michaela leaned in and brushed her lips against Undine's. She lingered there, exchanging breath with the prim and proper Queen.

"I didn't bring you here to have fun with you," Michaela implored her softly, her lips brushing against Undine's as she spoke without withdrawing. "You are not here for my pleasure. Put it out of your mind. You are to use me only to bring your own little spark to a full, roaring blaze." Humming a pleased little sound, Michaela nipped at Undine's lower lip. "I will only stop you from pleasing me. And then I will only do as you tell me."

Tilting her head, the Domina met those innocent lips again with her own, imparting first a pure kiss of promise, and then split it with her tongue to implore Undine to explore the limits of her imagination. Pressing in, Michaela grinned despite the kiss, wrapping her fingers in Undine's hair, sucking the air from her lungs. She would not stop until Undine either fought free or simply commanded it.

When it was done, Michaela sat back on her heels, with a smile known only by herself and the Darkness. "Dig deep, Undine. Tell me what you want to feel."

Undine held to that soft relaxing of her careful reserves and harsh self-control. Instead, the touch and warmth of Michaela's skin became her primary target. It wasn't the passion to her, or even a deep abiding sexual want despite her arousal. It was the gluttonous feasting after years of famine for simple touch. Untutored enough Undine couldn't state her preference in the feel of flesh against hers. Only that she needed to feel it.

Her hands roamed Michaela's body; stroking that flesh in a quiet sense of wonder. Soothed by the tactile. The need to connect on more than a distant level with another person. To have her world expanded enough to know she wasn't alone. That Michaela caressed back. Her fellow Queen's touches hardly reverent or holding a sense of careful restraint. Instead, they connected and were living and hot. Searing through the ice that had become so much a part of her existence.

Undine was helpless but to follow those caresses. Arousal was a new enough experience to quicken her heart beat and lessen the blood flow to her ability to think. The requests followed. Distantly she heard and recognized Michaela's words even as the gentler queen wanted to balk or complain at having that marvelous sensation of touch be taken away.

The kneeling state of their golden brown bodies; beautiful in their unique ways. It was a sight that Undine would never know; yet didn't need to see it understand that in this moment they were an erotic tableau. The represented potential of the sensual combined with the innate reverence for their caste; these things Undine knew would make their kneeling far more taboo and sexual than any sort of writhing orgy.

The sweetness in their touches. Both holding an innate control instead of a hungry groping and press. Undine's own hands trembling just faintly as she traced along Michaela's soft abdomen. Trailing along that silken skin just for the thrill of feeling flesh beneath her hands. Erotic, too, for Undine. Prim and proper yet thirsting to be held and embraced. To forget her caste just for a time; instead of having it crammed down her throat until all Undine simply was Queen; nothing else.

That tender fleeting kiss conveyed a sort of gentleness; a fleeting emotion that hinted at a sort of bittersweet resignment. Michaela had a reason for this; a reason that slipped Undine's mind because she knew what she wanted even as she tried to comply with the lesson. Have fun? The brush of lips only added to the confused furrow of her brow. This wasn't fun; it was painful and relieving. The sort of pain that came from lancing a poorly mending wound. Relief that came from a heartful of anxiety released with a simple cup of drugged wine and the promise of caress.

The kisses were different than before. Different than any she had experienced prior. Nipping and teasing; playful and enticing as Michaela invited her down that rabbit hole. The tease of words entering even as Undine puzzled them out in her quiet way.

Her thoughts of replying cut short as once more the teasing brushes of lips against hers turned into something more. Michaela's lips soft and touched with some sort of oil or wax. Perhaps carmine and beeswax; Undine couldn't exactly place it and yet it was a pleasant enough sensation. The lap of tongue warm velvet. Eliciting the uncertain one to part her lips in response. Her own tongue flicked out to stroke along the bottom of Michaela's. The so slick and smooth underside unique for the sensitivity and strength of the muscle. Not forked though; as rumors had once persisted.

Isolated snatches of sensation; from the almost painful draw of fingers tightening through her hair to the draw of Michaela's mouth upon hers. Pressing enough to be almost bruising. Harsh enough that Undine started to surrender under the kiss; seeking the passivity trained into her through the years. A passivity that wore soon enough as Undine so gently cupped Michaela's cheeks. Her own head drawing back just enough to center herself. A little struggle for the tightening of fingertips against her mentor's flesh; the beating of butterfly wings and yet monumental for the Blood Opal Queen.

"Alive. Darkness I just want to feel alive and made of flesh rather than ice" The confession left her in a gasping rush. Her body trembled in the tight control she forced on herself. Fought to remain kneeling instead of falling upon her friend in a frenzied pounce to touch and wrap herself around Michaela until she felt all the cold places in her bones chased away. Not for lust but the simple desperation to feel something.

"I just want to be touched outside of what protocol allows... It is my one whole sense and I am constantly deprived. Like sitting down to a feast and yet being unable to reach the food or drink. I am starved for it" No blushes or pretty little smiles. Only the clenching of hands over Undine's thighs as she fought to remember hints of control while tempted so sorely. The need was there and demanding; a need she had thought ignorable until presented the opportunity to sate her appetite on the heady feast that was Michaela.

Michaela let out all of her breath with an exaggerated groan, blowing strands of hair out of her view. Could Undine see those golden eyes staring at her, she may have thought to feel threatened by their intensity or the devilishly drawn smile spread beneath them.

"Undine." Michaela's gruff tone was a distinct shift from softer sounds, but not devoid of its own magnetism. As a convincing Queen who knew how to get what she wanted, most every word she spoke was issued along with a delicate lick of coquetry, if not the unbridled call of the siren.

Turning her head at odd angles, Michaela reviewed the other Queen, seeming sobered now and certainly so compared to Undine whose confusion and torment was readily apparent. It would be easy enough to simply get her off, Michaela considered. It would be fun as well. But that wouldn't accomplish much in the long run, at least not as quickly as desired. It was common knowledge that Micheala like to move fast. No, she wanted to inspire Undine to ask for what she wanted, to demand it, really, as was her right.

"Ignore your thoughts, sister. Push them back. The bedroom is no place to sort confusion." If Undine was capable of critical thinking while in her bed, Michaela would take it as the highest offense. But Michaela knew better. Of course the sweet, sumptuous woman was having trouble sorting her concerns.

Still admonishing with unvarnished honesty, Michaela continued, imploring Undine. "Stop concentrating on vagueries and uncertainty." Pushing both hands between Undine's legs, Michaela urged them apart and turned one hand up, painting a light touch over the heat between those thighs. "Tell me what you want me to do, Undine." Slowly, that breathless quality began to reenter her voice. Pinching lips between her fingers, Michaela rubbed them together slowly. "Specifics. What do you want me to do to you? Do you feel empty? Do you want me to help fill that emptiness? Put my fingers inside of you? Would you like to feel my kiss here? Should I cover your mound with my mouth? Would that be too much? Something else perhaps? If you rather, you could lay with me while I do nothing but caress your belly and breasts while you seek your own release. I would enjoy that very much."

Michaela's eyes glowed at that, another nuanced reaction that Lady Licenius would miss. Wetting her lips apprehensively, hoping that the message had been understood, Michaela leaned in so that the reverberation of her sultry voice would be felt all the more intimately.

"Remember, though, it's not about me. It's about you, Lady Undine Licenius, Queen, fierce woman, leader of men, of Hayll. Our land needs you to stand up, not bow; strike, not retreat; take, not surrender. If you can't accomplish this in bed, the most basic of places, you have no hope in the political arena, much less your own home." Insistently massaging both thigh and sex, Michaela hoped that either her words or actions would take root, if not the two combined.

"Tell me where to touch you, Undine, and how. How hard, how often, how quickly. Do this, and don't stop until you simply can't take it anymore."

The stroking of that so sensitive and so guarded place between her thighs earned a jump. Her knees tightening around Michaela's hips for a moment as she fought the instinct to retreat. The touches steady and accompanied with those words. Words that teased and followed her through the movements until she was all too aware of her wants. Of the burning and aching need between her thighs that she wasn't certain how to vocalize.

Words, Michaela was saying them. Her mind broke apart trying to track the sensuous and tantalizing touch and put the words into an order she could understand. To reply outside of a dullard's 'uhh' because the shock of it alone was enough to render her speechless. They weren't vulgar words; she stated her options most cordially. Words that could have come with 'Would you like some cream in your tea? Yes.. and shall I put my fingers in you as well?' It was a startling contrast to the whispered and husky vulgarity that accompanied the rough groping of over-eager hands.

Instead, the younger Queen's toes curled in the bedding. Her right foot coming to point as the ball of her foot pressed against the mattress to angle her pelvis just a little more. Her lips parted as she breathed those staggering little gasps. Despite the drink and Michaela's unruffled voice, she felt too exposed; too at risk. A coward then.

"Lay beside me and just touch me..." Undine felt her own disappointment. The dissipating of that heady arousal in the face of the fear that threatened. Even there it swelled the want to withdraw and protect herself. A battle she waged internally as she fought to find that sense of balance.

"Let me stroke you because I wish to feel your skin against mine. Let me soak in your warmth because I am cold Michaela." She uttered softly. The words breaking from between her lips in a rushed gasp. Her thighs trembled from the effort of not snapping them shut. The effort to not cover her nakedness with hair and bedding until she was sheltered once more and no longer vulnerable.

Not the outcoming that her companion had hoped for and yet this was the furthest Undine had exposed herself to another. The furthest she could find herself falling before the need to catch herself overrode the desire to see just how far she could plummet.

"That is my want... Not pretty euphemisms for sex. Your skin is softer than silk and the soft musk of your flesh is pleasant, but I do not hunger for it. I hunger for the opportunity to feel the glide of your skin against mine. To feel your breasts pressed to mine as I wrap myself around you. Just to be held because you have nothing to gain through me..." Undine gave a soft sigh. A noise of annoyance; perhaps at herself and perhaps at the situation she had brought herself to. She had tried to escape one noose and instead walked into another. This one at least less likely to choke the independent thoughts out of her.

Narrowing her eyes, Michaela searched Undine's face, confused. She had crossed a line. Already? Michaela drew back, stymied and a little put out. She didn't blame the timid Queen. By her own mouth, she'd announced that Undine would have her way in this room. Still, not many bodies refused Michaela. Minds, perhaps, but bodies were the altars upon which she worshipped. The Domina had changed many minds by appealing to the body instead.

The eagerness and warmth that had emanated from Undine wilted quickly, too quickly. There was something that Michaela didn't comprehend that was working against her. Were the tender-hearted so different from the souls that occupied her courts? She couldn't recall the last time that she'd been so shut out. The last light of the day illuminated Undine's golden skin, but her uncertain features were draped in shadow. Her insecure innocence in that moment was more alluring than the soft, yearning sounds that had escaped her lips only seconds before. Undine would be as delicious as her hesitation, Michaela was certain. She wanted to experience every nuance of those guarded walls coming down, feeling much like a hound locked to the scent of blood but denied a taste.

Withdrawing her touch, Michaela frowned, casting her sour expression toward the balcony. Staring into the rays of sunlight blinded her, but she didn't seem to care. It took two long breaths before she was certain that she wouldn't misbehave, and another pair before she glanced back to Lady Licenius.  Undine was disappointed herself... and afraid.

Sliding her tongue over her teeth, Michaela's face drifted toward her shoulder. It was difficult to restrain the tantrum that rustled just beneath her skin. Perhaps it was a good night to host an impromptu gathering of initiates. But none would be half as pure as Undine and she'd only spend the evening pouting. Michaela wanted to press the issue, of course, but doing so was contrary to the trust that Undine had reluctantly granted. Taking advantage now would only guarantee that there would never be another opportunity.

Hiding her disappointment was useless, Undine would know better. Michaela didn't want to her feel poorly about it, though. Waiting for the other Queen to settle atop the bed, Michaela considered how fear might multiply on itself in such a vulnerable state. Undine had been gifted with exquisite features and a shape that begged to be kissed. Soft golden flesh exposed over the dark and sumptuous outline of Michaela's bed--did she know how beautiful she was?

Lashes falling, a rare glint of introspective regret subdued Michaela's gaze. Surrendering, she crawled up alongside the other queen and stretched herself there. Supporting herself with an elbow, Michaela curled a leg over Undine's and drew fingers over the bare belly before her.

"Mmmm... that's not true." Michaela mused, flattening her palm over Undine's sternum. There was an infinite list of ways that Undine could prove useful, even if she meant exclusively in the bedroom. Sighing, Michaela wet her lips and studied Undine.

"You've spoken for yourself, at least. Don't think it was for nothing, Undine. There's nothing to be ashamed of. I will warm you for as long as you like. More than helping you articulate your desires Undine, I want you to be able to trust me." Saying so was likely to do more harm than good, but there was little left to lose at that point.

The soft breath of her acceptance gave way as she curled into Michaela. Her belly trembling at the teasing touch in the same way a skittish mare might shy from the bit. Trembling flesh that evidenced the lack of physical contact outside the formal. Her fingers moved to trace and touch the lines of Michaela's shoulder.

Light touches that mapped the form even as she memorized the scent and psychic feel that was her tutor. The soothing rise and fall of their breaths an enchanting lull to help pull the electric charge from the air. That sensuality simmered until finally at rest even as Undine reflected upon Michaela's words.

Slowly she shifted to roll to her side, curling into the other Queen. Her cheek pressed to Michaela's shoulder even as her fingers splayed over the woman's stomach in a gentle stroke. Index finger slowly circling her naval in wonder at the sensation of skin against hers. The warmth seeped into her; chasing away the chill that permeated everything about her.

Michaela wanted to trust and that was the crux of the problem. Undine wasn't certain who she could trust. Her family wished to gain power through her, by using her as a tool to climb the ladder of courts or breed well with another member of the 100 families. Preferably she would do both and she resisted that fate as long as possible.

Undine couldn't trust her family. Even her Twin's motives were suspect. She dared not trust causal acquaintances and so it left her in a lurch of just not trusting anyone. Trust became the 500lb Arcerian tiger in the bedroom. How could Undine think to form a court if she could not trust those around her to follow and obey the letter of her ruling?

"I would like to trust Michaela." No other words were needed. The anxiety of her visit passed and the emotional turmoil had been pushed aside by that steady living warmth of the Queen. The heat of her body and the steady thump of her heart. Soothing things that saw Undine's gentle stroking slow. Her own heartbeat lowering as her lashes closed. The offering of warmth and comfort brought something closer to peace to the younger queen.

A quiet moment to at least relax even if she couldn't fully trust. Perhaps this was enough. Just enough intimacy to see her through the centuries of her life...

In her own way, Undine welcomed Michaela. She didn't invite the ruling Queen to plunder her flesh, but she did allow a nearness that was rare for the blind one. It was a small win. Michaela wanted to hold her closer, even to comfort her. Something in the weakness that she saw before her made her want to strip Undine of all of her soft places and fill the emptiness with something more substantial. Why? She didn't know. Perhaps Michaela believed she shared a commonality with Undine at least in the way that they were both held to the will of their families. For as much as Michaela had gained, she despised the feeling of being owned.

No matter what, Michaela's feelings were not known to be altruistic. Even her kind deeds were often backed by another purpose, even if it was only that she enjoyed having allies and the unexpected ones were the best of all. She couldn't say that she meant well for Undine, only that she had no specific plans to abuse their delicate relationship. Nevertheless, Michaela knew not to test such bonds until they were stronger. At this rate, Undine would be indefinitely safe from her treachery.

Michaela didn't need to temper the heat in her eyes as they danced over Undine's body. Tiny bumps rose under her fingers as she trailed them over the luscious curve of Undine's side who lay facing away from the setting sun. The light from beyond made the very edge of her form glow a like a fire burning on a distant horizon. Undine said that she would like to trust, and Michaela lifted her gaze to search the other Queen's eyes. She likely meant it.

There was no sense of victory here, only the acknowledgment of achieving one step toward an obscure goal. Such a paltry increase should have bothered Michaela more than it did, but she could always blame her apathy on the heady wisps of burning oils and herbs that drifted overhead. Undine had partaken of Michaela's special drink on top of this, and instead of being incited, she appeared to be finding herself closer to sleep.

Michaela rested with her, but she did not sleep. She turned on her side and simply watched as the tension eased in Undine's shoulders and her expression softened, turning into something almost serene. Let her rest. Michaela couldn't very well send her home intoxicated, no matter how little. The effects would burn off rather quickly without further consumption. Only when Michaela was sure that Undine was sleeping, did she finally turn away.

Slipping quietly to the edge of the bed, Michaela reached out to take the hand of a tall woman dressed in a belted red tunic. The woman smiled graciously as her Queen stepped in to kiss her. After a soft press of her lips, Michaela sighed against the other woman's chin and reached to intertwine their fingers. Glancing toward the bed and the raven-haired Queen, Michaela's eyes glinted mischievously.

Leading the woman to the end of the large bed, Michaela stood in front of a sumptuous chaise stepped close again, pulling at the belt tied about the tunic as she leaned in for another, more passionate kiss. She didn't miss a beat as she called in aural shields to surround the sleeping Queen. With the belt unfastened, Michaela began to crumple fabric in her palms, slowing lifting the blood-colored tunic and uncovering the sultry form beneath. Her partner gasped quietly when Michaela pressed the rough-spun fabric against her breasts and then leaned in to greet each of them with a kiss.

The tunic came off and was cast aside. Slipping fingers behind the other woman's head, Michaela was kissing her again, the intensity of her touch growing with each breath. Slowly she stepped back, drawing the woman with her until her calves touched the edge of the long chair at her back. Lowering down into it, Michaela did not release the other woman. She brought her as well, until the Queen was seated, and her subject was on her knees. Pulling her palms to the cheeks of this fawning supplicant, Michaela studied her eager eyes. She would do. Leaning back, Michaela settled into the cushions, propping an arm on the back of the chair and tilting her head against her knuckles. Lifting one foot onto the chair, the Queen pushed the heel of the other down the woman's back and then drew her in with insistent pressure there.

The first hot breath between Michaela's thighs made her moan impatiently. The first kiss had her grinding her ass into the cushions searching for the best position. When that tongue delved between her lips and sought the tender bud of her pleasure, Michaela locked her eyes on Undine's resting form and hissed a breath between her teeth. Let her rest. Watching her while the unnamed woman sucked her clit made Michaela feel absolutely wicked, and wicked felt much more like herself again.
