Distinguishing Features:

Personality

Personality: Unbelievably set in his principles, Kadegar has not drastically changed his viewpoint of this world in two thousand years, and he is unlikely to change it now just to appease the mercurial thoughts of Kalvar. Quite to the contrary, these views were quieted while the Great War began to settle in Kaeleer, and grew almost adorably dormant in the years after the Purge, but they have intensified rather drastically with the death of his youngest son, who is the last of his children.

Since 190 years after the purge, his already traditionalist viewpoints have hardened incredibly. The man even in the intervening centuries has been sour and intense, with a tinge of hate and bigotry in his heart. But his negativity and hatred have sharpened into a vengeance with their deaths. What the jaded and ancient man has become is cynical and cruel in his simmering rage.

The old man enjoys being looked to for guidance, and uses his history of experience to shape opinions and insights, and is all too willing to shape his memories to misinform whenever needed. He has an agenda, one for the dominance of the Eyrien people who’s inherent superiority sets them above all else, and any evidence to the contrary is dismissed while evidence supporting his causes always finds their way to the surface.

But what he lets others see most clearly of himself is a more cold, measured response, doing his level best even now to hide the most obvious of his biases and shaped contempt behind a veneer of civility, education and learned sophistication. He prides himself on this demeanor, that of the stately and wise elder, and gladly uses that impression to put his hand upon the rudder of history.

Likes:
  • Eyriens. To him, there is no people more perfect, and well-suited for conquest, than the noble and terrifying force of winged warriors from Askavi. He considers the Jhinka to be of greater value, truly, than most any resident of Kaeleer.
  • Tessenian. While not his first Queen-bond, she is the first of his blood, and he holds great fondness and respect for the Queen forced into exile. In his estimation, she should have been the one to rule the heights of these mountains, and he even has ambitions to see her unite both Askavis for the first time since the Great War as some manner of Blue Queen, should his dreams be realized.
  • Hard work. He is a Warlord through and through, even if his exceptional experience has shaped him to be as sharp a mind as any Prince, and as skilled a killer as any Warlord Prince. There is nothing more refreshing than to have a job well done; and nothing more respectable than a task someone is working to bring to life through their sweat.
Dislikes:
  • Kalvar. The ultimate race-traitor, this halfbreed Prince was a great opportunity to unite Askavi in the wake of the Purge, but instead, he chose solace and seclusion... before deciding to rise up and kill the people that once treated him as their own, despite his mongrel blood. He is a traitor, a kinslayer, a deplorable halfbreed, and he is most notably the man who killed his last living child.
  • Non-Eyriens. While he is proud of his own people, he is just as disgusted with those who are not of their ken. They are weak people, with poor focus, short-sighted desires, and no respect for prestige, honor or tradition. The worst of them all are the short-lived, who's lives are meaningless but they fail to understand this fact.
  • Entitlement. The short-lived are the most critical bearers of this accursed trait, for they have worked and earned precious little in their life. Those who claim their value based on inheritance, family names, or any other basis (excepting, hypocritically, being an Eyrien) leave him suffused with contempt. Conversely, he even resents those amongst the Eyrie who think that merely being Eyrien entitles them to respect, when it all must be earned.
Fears:
  • The death of Tessenian. With most of his line having stayed in Terreille, he has focused his life upon the prosperity and power of Askavi, Kaeleer. With almost all of his line here having died to the Purge, the Great War, or recently and most sharply to Kalvar, the notion of losing Tessenian is crippling. Her children could carry on some without her, but she is his most recent bound Queen, and he doubts he can survive emotionally or mentally intact should he lose one more person - let alone watch another bond shatter.
  • The purging of the Eyriens from Rihland. It has already begun, obviously, and this was a fear he never possessed before it started, but now, he knows that the tide is turning and at the crest of the tide rides a Black Jewel. Even with all their power, all their hate, all their experience, he has doubts that they can overcome all of their own enemies and walk away unscathed. Even in his most optimistic moods, he dreads the consequences of being wrong.
  • Hell. He prays that his jewels are shattered at the end of his life, and his soul burned out of him, because he has caused unbelievable suffering and he has no doubt that there are a great deal of people awaiting him at his weakest and most alone to torment him for the rest of his eternity.

History:
He never would have imagined his life would lead him to hiding in a cave from a boogeyman while debating how best to kill a man who he once served beside and under, let alone that he ever would have thought to be loyal to a halfbreed bastard like the Ruler of ‘Rihland’.

He was a happy, hardworking child, who had dreams of one day becoming perhaps the hard-working Steward, or at least housekeeper, of a great palace. Their family was not one of excessive import or significance, but some cousins held influence. His prayers, his family’s, were that he might grow to eventually apprentice and earn his way up through the ranks of a branch with more importance. His jewels marked him as at least capable of offering real contributions to his household and their prosperity. His mother was a Queen, but she served another District Queen, helping oversee a third of the Fell Valley’s area with the oversight of her superior ruler. Father served at her behest, and they both struggled and strained to ensure he stood proudly forward.

And so he worked, hard, to become a skilled laborer and, in time, carpenter, which itself resulted in his future leading construction efforts… and eventually designing them himself as an apprentice to other architects. A skilled, strenuous worker, he had not reached his childhood dreams of living in palaces, but now he built them and kept a comfortable home, where he began to form his own family. His life was stagnant, but rewarding, and peaceful. Terreille was a prosperous land, but Askavi was aware they were outgrowing their borders, the lush farmlands being stripped by its populace further and further with each passing year.

And so the drums of war began to beat.

With little expectation in an increasingly resource-tight land, he was excited when he heard words of Askavi deciding to expand its prosperity and help bring other territories into the levels of their bounty and wisdom. Soon, all within the Eyrie began to train for these futures, and this man volunteered his energies and skills to the war effort. He was whipped into shape, to become as capable a warrior as most any, to practice how to build barriers and reinforcements and ways to overcome the entrenchments of others. Countless wore the colors of Askavi as they finally, after lifetimes, struck out with vicious action to claim Raej and soon, almost all of Terreille.

But some were tasked for a greater challenge; he was handpicked, even, to help in its progress: to take mirrored mountains in Kaeleer, and to tame them. But first, they would conquer a few troublesome areas that might resist them. There was a terrifying force of nature who fought beside him on some of these ventures, sent to Kaeleer with his Jewels to help break the Realm into their image. In time, he would be one of those most paramount in the efforts to build their homes and fortresses and strongholds out of the rock and wood and dirt of the fledgeling territory. And so the untamed mountains and their short-lived indigenous people all began to know this beautiful future that he helped hew from the mountains themselves. But the war turned against them, here in Kaeleer more than with unlimited defense Terreille seemed to possess, and alongside most others, he turned inward towards bolstering and growing the prosperity of Askavi, Kaeleer, the Shadow of the Mountains. Here he helped push them on, to encourage their futures, to dream of what those futures might be. And for generations, this would be his world, a powerfully wise and capable man imparting that hard-earned respect to guide and shape his people. He had his Queen, he had his children, and Askavi still could unite as one, he thought. Until the Purge took all of that from him.

But he rebuilt, piece by piece, even having lost so many. Askavi United would no longer be a dream achievable in a half dozen human generations, he knew, but he yet dreamed. Family was cobbled back together from the broken, traumatic remnants of his bloodline and those of close friends. And so Askavi, Kaeleer managed to eke out its own prosperity in the face of the contempt of its neighbors. His life would remain unimpeded, as he rebuilt himself alongside the towers and the keeps that had his touch upon them.

And then that bastard half-breed with power unimaginable decided that enough was enough, it seemed, and he purged all of what remained of his life, except the line of Tessenian and her brood. So it was here, that he pushed his energies, to his bonded Queen granddaughter, to her children, to Askavi, and to the dream of an unified Askavi that ruled from the mountains spanning two realms. A dream deeply endangered by the brutal, thoughtless massacres of one man who decided to force his will upon this storied land and tear down all the progress he once made, and which Kadegar dedicated himself.until it was torn asunder.

Character in Play:
He finds it queer to think that he is considered by the years from whence the Purge happened. It was a very short-lived way of thinking, to use such a recent event to delineate time, but he had seen countless cataclysms and some of them were great enough that all of history was reorganized based on the horrors of that moment. Once upon a time, he remembered fondly, time was measured by very day and year that Raej fell as the first day of the Great War. Before and After the Great War. But that, too, was relatively new; it replaced a previous counting custom that he can only barely recall, one of his relative youth, based on the falling of a star, a great stone from the sky, leaving devastation in the oceans and sending massive waves and ruin with them.

He wondered when, exactly, the next Great Horror would take place to replace the fear that rumbled in one's soul when one spoke of The Purge. There might, he wondered, be a time for a return to the Second Great War as a numbering system. The world had its systems, and its secret agreements as to what would define it. But his own world had been defined so painfully recently that it reshaped his own history by its vibrance in his long, storied memory.

He knew well, at least, that he counted his days as Before The Betrayal and After The Betrayal. Kalvar Elbremov had gone from half-trusted half-breed to coward so long ago he had been all but forgotten even by those as young as Kadegar Moroz, that he was caught unaware when his family was ripped apart as if an afterthought by the villain who wore the Black. He changed Askavi, 'saving it' for its 'true' people, he betrayed those who called him blood, and he spilled blood upon the soil of this mountain to give its new ruling people their bounties and futures, the Eyrien icchor serving as fertilizer for their treacherous demands of the land.

He looked out from their caves, staring into the night, yearning for another star to fall from the sky, to strike and wipe away the shame of these lands, the failed memories of their foolhardy conquest, and the traitor, even if it took them all with it. He wished upon every star, praying for them to fall from the Heavens and bring on a new devastation.

But the stars stayed fixed in the sky; and his hand clenching about his son's brooch saw fit to tear flesh and set blood pooling into the soil, more sap the traitor had gained to help defile the mountains he would steal from the warriors of the Eyrie.

Phinn, Dash, feel free to give your insights here on mentions. I kept it kind of light still, to develop explicit details further in game, while outlying his general state throughout history.
