Thread title: Filled with my old wounds
Thread link: http://www.bloodrites.net/little-terreille-48/filled-with-my-old-wounds/
Reason: Man, this thread was a good, hard read. Jon gets the best news of his life, only to get kicked in the teeth again. You don't want to feel bad for Jon or Maarika, but you do. And Hayden being there to pick up the pieces afterward makes you feel like it'll all be okay...until it isn't.

Thread title:After the Fall, I am Nothing
Thread link: http://www.bloodrites.net/little-terreille-48/after-the-fall-i-am-nothing/
Reason: Been digging this thread since it started. Violet's already struggling with the loss of her family and she's got to find a way to hide herself before whoever is responsible decides that they didn't get everyone. She and Travis are both trying to remain professional, but her craft is making it tough on both of them. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out!

Character nominated: Travis Desmarais
Reason: Bowie does a great job at not laying all of Travis' cards on the table at once, which is a skill in storytelling that's often overlooked. He's managed to craft a character that's truly charming, but still shows hints of real depth beneath the surface. It's a difficult balance to strike, blending charisma and distance in a character, but Bowie pulls it off very well.

Character nominated: Blade Amdir
Reason: Because he's everybody's favorite bogeyman.  Because he's freakin' terrifying despite the fact that he's far from the darkest Jewel in the Territory. Reading Blade, you really, really wanna hate someone that conceited and showy, but YOU CAN'T. He's so much fun to watch; Dash has done an amazing job of creating a really dynamic, interesting character.

Character nominated: Jonothan Harmaa

Reason: Because I actually felt bad for Jon. Somehow, Dash managed to craft a situation where I FELT BAD FOR JON. That's some mastery right there.

Thread nominated: Rushing Forward Into the Arms of Death
Reason: I've been busy, but I began to catch up on threads and I couldn't stop reading this one. It's so powerful. Lene and Gavin wrote the tense scene with beauty and urgency. Not to mention it introduces some cross-territory action in the form of the Butcher of Askavi. I can't wait to see more!

Thread title: I'm so cool, too bad I'm a loser
Thread link: http://www.bloodrites.net/dena-nehele-39/i'm-so-cool-too-bad-i'm-a-loser/
Reason: Dashel Darko is the most innocent character in Dena Nehele, if not the entire board. Watching the puppy Jack attempt to navigate Claudia, a blind Black Widow intent on terrorizing him for her own amusement, is a thing of a beauty. It's a refreshing thread and a really fun read.

Character nominated: Valor Tanithil
Reason: Gavin has wrote a really interesting character that has one foot in two different realms at all times. Valor is both intense and deeply restrained. He's bold and also very reserved. He's passionate but also extremely stoic. This isn't writer's confusion but really just some layers to a character that walks a difficult line to remain on. Most especially he really highlighted that Valor is "human" (as much as any Dea al Mon or Blood is human) in his fear of Blade, but wouldn't let him show it in a valorous display of confidence. He utilizes the rules of Protocol extremely well.

He's one of the best characters in Dea al Mon and definitely a fun read every time.

Thread title: Ain't Got Nothin But Too Much To Lose.
Thread link: http://www.bloodrites.net/little-terreille-48/ain't-got-nothin'-but-too-much-to-lose/
Reason: This thread is a really fun, intense read. Kelda getting sniped while eating a hot dog sets this race against time for Kierstan and Izzy, and the fact that poor Travis gets home-invaded in a Pulp Fiction-esque scenario is pretty amazing. All three characters written in this scene bring a lot to it, be it the hilariousness of Travis's walking in on it and Bowie's dialogue for him, and Gavin's nervousness to Kierstan trying to not fuck up a life-or-death situation.

It also highlights just how sneaky the Blood can be, and makes one want to check around corners in their threads.

Character nominated: Renvar Yatskaya
Reason: As always, Renvar is a constant gardener in Askavi. He is tried, true, dependable, and filled with so much rage for those who have given Askavi anything less than their entire soul and life. He is a very deep character portrayed as something simple, and Petri has always written him beautifully, but rarely moreso than in the current thread. Love him so.

Character nominated: Itzelian Maboya
Reason: As I've told Haly before, I think she's one of the best writers on the site. Able to comfortably really portray distinctly disparately different characters, I feel her master class is in this newer one of her characters. Naive and overwhelmed by burdens at once, she is a curious and hopeful and shamelessly vulnerable character, which can be so so very hard for most writers to allow themselves to portray. I find her to be an absolutely tragic and compelling character, and is part of why I am so happy to be writing in Shalador.

Thread title: Mothers In Every Sense of the Word
Thread link: http://www.bloodrites.net/askavi-52/mothers-in-every-other-sense-of-the-word/msg91568
Reason: Although it started so very late in May and is likely to continue well into June, this has been an excellent thread between Erica and Haly showcasing a lot of strong emotions that read very potently and connect deep, given the difficult situation they're navigating. It's a beautiful and poignant little story that speaks volumes in their hands.

Thread title: The View Always Changes As You Grow Up
Thread link: http://www.bloodrites.net/shalador-45/the-view-always-changes-as-you-grow-up/msg91568/#new
Reason: Rian is such a focal and defining point in both their lives, and seeing them both try to work through that - and learn what it means to be family now - is an excellent story and it's exciting to see it finally getting told, with Erisian's activation. I normally disprefer flashbacks, as I'd rather tell the story of today, but knowing the tragedy coming, this is a beautiful set piece that will pay dividends in the shaping of Shalador after the return from the volcano. Seeing these two powerful Queens, niece and aunt, struggling to know one another in the continuing wake of the Priestess who called herself Queen is a very fascinating story and something so uniquely BR.

And uh, reluctantly, self-nominating:

Thread title: The Second Climb
Thread link: http://www.bloodrites.net/askavi-37/the-second-climb/msg91568
Reason: The competing ideologies of Endevar, Renvar and Drakkar have been deeply interesting. This has been the thread I've been yearning for since I returned to the board, and I deeply value the contributions both Gavin and Petrichor have given me in making this thread as enjoyable as it has been.

Thread nomination: Grabbing the snake by its tail

Reason: This thread is an excellent look at the clash of two sides of a Queen's triangle, and how they manage to navigate matters with protocol instead of fighting, which there's plenty of reasons for among the Blood, and especially the ferocious Dea al Mon. It was excellent to see Valor in his recent role as Master of the Guard cleverly go against the wishes of the First Escort in Blade Amdir to grant Alusair Sigurd a place at the Black Court. Absolutely fantastic read. Dash, Gavin, and Phinneas do a great job of entertaining and offering what the workings of a court look like among the men that serve.

Thread Nomination: It Won't Hurt Unless You Let It
Reason: Watching the conflict of interest in both Rilandra and Valeriu is amazing.  Everything from the struggle Val has about helping her (his fear for his daughter is wonderful) and his inability to NOT help her because of his own sense of social responsibility.  Rilandra's response to him in words, fighting, and... ahem.. after party is simply wonderful.  I am loving how these two unlikeliest of people are coming together.

Character Nomination:  Valeriu Dumitrescu
Reason:  As stated above, I find the conflicts built into Valeriu absolutely fascinating.  His constant need to balance his care of Dena Nehele against the safety of his daughter's life puts forward some amazing potential.  I was actually in tears reading his character application by the time I finished.  This is an amazing character, bowie!

Thread Nomination: Until the Hasting Day Has Run
Reason:  The suspense is killing me guys!  Will Charisma be taken and Changed, or will someone rescue her before that bastard Wraith can spirit her away?  (BtW I love Wraith. He's great!)  Charisma is one of my favoritest queens in the entire board.  Seeing her put in this predicament has seriously got me bouncing on my chair wondering how it will turn out!

Character nominated: Kelda Voll
Reason: Seriously is there a Black Widow more cantankerous than Kelda? She's a cunning, manipulative, mean, and hilarious character. She's always thinking on her feet and trying to edge out something in her favor. She's not a nice person at all, but she's not inherently evil. She's just super selfish and is fun to read.
